  1. Considering that @HarveySwick posted last in Feb of 2019 and last visited the boards on July 22 of this year then he must be posting from the afterlife. I think you're mixing things up with this thread
  2. He's made a lot of personal lists with his attitude and actions.
  3. Yeah, but that's ultimately their decision to run their sales thread that way. I'm more perturbed by this growing trend of very long sales thread titles where the sellers try to cram every book they're selling into the title.
  4. I reported a seller a few weeks back for selling illegal replicas of comics. Nothing happened. They did zilch
  5. Sadly, I had the exact opposite feeling as I simply couldn't wait for the mag to end its long awaited death. Especially with rspect to the direction that Russ had taken the once great fan magazine and turned it into his own personal soapbox which virtually nobpdy had anymore interest in by the end. I agree. He seemed to forget that he was producing a magazine for comic book fans and not a magazine for himself. It really was a shadow of itself after Gary left.
  6. Did you call them or email them? If it's still at CGC then maybe they can make the change before it's sent back to you.
  7. You need to keep hyping it out the wazoo like you were weeks ago. That will right the ship!
  8. Nothing better for me in the 80s than Byrne inking Byrne. Byrne's FF run starting with 232 is his definitive work, his high point. Though I'm sure he would disagree.
  9. I've done this in some situations- Usually art commissions when my impression is it's their main/only income, and rarely in comic book sale threads when my impression is they're simply trying to maximize their profit. Whether or not my impressions are right, IDK. So far no one has refused this option when I've used it, and it would be a HUGE red flag if they did. I've added the 3% as well. Paying F&F is just trouble waiting to happen. I get it that if it's someone you know and trust, the risk is low or maybe even nonexistant but it's still a violation of Paypal terms of service and no amount of rationalization will change that.
  10. Social Media feeds the growing need (and narcissism) for people to pop in, say something and then leave. It's navel gazing bullpoop. It's all me, me, me, now, now, now. It has no depth, no history, no sense of community. A message board like this will always be superior in all those ways. Unfortunately, the world is going to, or has gone to, social media and away from message boards. Some people will say boards like these are social media but they predate the term and are quite different in a lot of ways. I don't consider message boards to be anywhere near the same type of communication that sites like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc are but what do I know, I'm becoming an old person.
  11. With regards to the jagged right edge, do you mean something similar to the copy pictured in the thread below?
  12. There's no way anyone here can advise you unless you post some pictures. Show us the WbN 32 and 33 please. Good quality clear pics of both front and back covers. Make sure the edges aren't cropped.
  13. Marvel's photo covers were pretty bad, especially the ones like that Sub Mariner Blowie posted above. The few that they did in the 80s were just as bad. Dell photo covers on the other hand? I always kinda liked those
  14. yep but if you buy one copy today for a thousand dollars, the odds are it will still be worth a thousand dollars 5 years from now, the profit for this book is 9.6 and up. Same thing can be said for Giant Size X-men 1 and X-men 94, you can spend your grand on them now and only expect that same grand back after holding them for the next 5 years. They are great books but the profit has sailed on these if now bought at current market prices. In 2010, $1,000 would have probably gotten you a VF or 8.0 copy of IH 181. FMV on that copy today - 10 years later - is more than 4x that at about $4,300. That's if you're able to get a copy at dead-on current GoCollect FMV (which, if their FMVs of ASM 300 is any indication, is spotty at best). My point is that this same argument is always made about key books like this that start to catch fire. So, never take comic investment advice from @ComicConnoisseur ... got it! Not to mention TheDanimal is a Hall of Shame member. He was another real piece of work
  15. Not with images that tiny. Can you post bigger pics? Big enough that we can make a reasonable judgment?
  16. I seem to recall somebody posting a book with a McFarlane sig and because he used some odd type of pen/marker the ink didn't fully dry and some of the signature came off and/or got smudged. Anybody else remember that?
  17. John Byrne (his 70s, 80s stuff is, for me, his high water mark) Frank Miller (the less said about his recent stuff the better) Neal Adams Mike Grell (look at his 70s stuff when it wasn't being ruined by Coletta) John Romita Jr (WTF happened??) Sal Buscema (I really like his 70s and early 80s stuff. It's when he took over for Simonson on Thor and his stuff got really jagged and angular with thicker lines that I started to lose interest)
  18. And on some days, interchangeable. The OP also has to take into consideration that the book may not improve with a press and there is the possibility, however small it may be, that the book could go down in grade. It's happened before.
  19. Let's keep the toxic bs out of these forums. You should have been here in the old days. What goes on now is a garden party by comparison
  20. Why not just wait until you have them in hand? What advantage is there in putting them up for sale when you can't actually ship them out yet? You are taking a risk by selling something that is not yet in your possession. I truly don't understand why people feel like they have to do this instead of just waiting until they have the books in hand.
