  1. Or he did that because when it's spelled correctly it gets zapped by the language filter.
  2. What if you’re genuinely stoked on the books? I haven’t had that experience here in a while(), but strict grading and secure packaging is worthy of mention IMO. Agreed, but overall a positive only feedback thread is of limited utility, as others have said. Not to mention the fact that there are some prolific sellers that are crappy people and I wouldn't buy from them at all. Others do because you know, Cool Books.
  3. No doubt about it. This has become my favorite board forum. It's just shnuts
  4. He considers anything not in his wheelhouse to be dreck. His early posts were pretty much crapping on what other people collected.
  5. yea, considering I have a different submission to CBCS that was dropped off at a show in mid-july that I still haven't gotten a receipt notice You need to try CNBC
  6. Late 70s. My dad took me to a show at the YMCA in (Hard Hittin') New Britain, CT. This was not a huge show by any stretch but as a 10 or 11 eleven year old, it might as well have been San Diego Comic Con Walked out of there with a small pile of DC war comics. All of which I still have. My dad was pretty cool about that stuff. A few years later in a used bookstore he bought me a big pile of Richie Rich comics that were priced at a quarter a piece.
  7. You sent your books to a broadcasting corporation? This is quickly becoming my favorite forum on the boards.
  8. Why do you assume that CGC got it right when they graded it 7.0?
  9. Do we know why he phrases it like that? Everything about his business model makes you go.... ...... calling them 'comics' book fits right in with that.
  10. Not being a printing expert, I can't be sure and I certainly don't want to provide false information but it does resemble this. If it is that, then it looks like a pretty severe case. Examples of printing hickeys
  11. Free packs of seeds with every slab!!!
  12. I've been here a long time and my experience is if someone says this that it doesn't. Here's hoping we break that trend! That thing will never sell
  13. That assumption is incorrect. CGC had their own pressing company called PCS in 2005. Not only that but there were also skads of pressers out there before CCS and CGC joined hands. It's not like pressing sprang into life at that point. I'm constantly amazed by the ignorance of noobs
  14. High quality scans are the best as far as I'm concerned. However, good clear photos can work as well.
  15. No way in hell that's a 9.8. Not even close. Whoever graded that needs a refresher or a different job
  16. Yeah it was! The Elks Hall building isn't even there anymore. They put in a multilevel climate controlled storage facility. The successor(s) to those shows still exist, albeit in two different incarnations: the almost-monthly show in Plainville and the East-of-the-River Comic Show in Enfield. Yeah, I just noticed that. I went on google street view looking for it and it was gone. I usually hit the Plainville show every time. I think they might be starting up again at the end of the month. Even if they are, still too soon for me to go back with everything going on. I have been to the East of the River show but don't get there very often.
  17. You don't make any sense buddy. More irony Once again he can't do this all day. Irony out the wazoo
  18. I know that in this 'press everything' age we live in, it's difficult to believe but there are still collectors out there who don't and won't press books. I have no idea if that was the case here, but stating that the person who slabbed it "seemed to not know what they were doing" is more than a little presumptuous, don't you think?
