  1. Who is this well-respected seller/boardie who missed the color touch?
  2. Mine too. He will always (rightly) be known for his MAD work but I'm partial to his war stuff
  3. SSWS 183 and 159 (not the actual copies shown below though) were two of my earliest war comics. My dad took me to my first comic show back around 1978/79 and I came home with a small stack of war comics. Back in those days, comics for me was DC war, Richie Rich, Sad Sack, and Uncle Scrooge. Odd combo to be sure
  4. If we ever compiled a list of the lamest villain names in comics, I suspect that Dr Glitternight would be in the top 10
  5. There are always people who take it upon themselves to try to convince the rest of us that the discussion is over. Message boards don't work that way. Well, unless the mods get involved Discussions have a lifespan and that lifespan should be allowed to continue on its own. Sometimes it's long and sometimes it's short. The point is that the boards will determine when the discussion is done, or if it keeps going, or if it dies and then gets reignited. That's how it works. That's how it should work.
  6. This thread talks about 35 in depth https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/231677-wolverine-35-tough-to-find-in-high-grade/
  7. Same here. Regarding this mess, I honestly don't know who is in the wrong. I don't know if either of the parties is in the wrong. What I do know is that there is a way to handle a dispute and the combative attitude of the seller is not the right way. Speaks volumes. I know we're all human and emotions are in play but we've had sellers take this type of attitude before and it cost them sales.
  8. How can we turn this into yet another covid thread?
  9. It has quite a bit going for it. Michael Golden art and a great Claremont story, X-men / Avengers. first Rogue & Madeline Pryor. Spider-woman and an important story line about Ms Marvel (loses her powers) after the events in Avengers 200. its been a mid key for a while now. One of the single best comic stories of the bronze age. It's got a great battle, tragedy, killer art from Mike Golden, and a first appearance of what would become a pretty major character. The only thing that detracts from it is the awful Milgrom cover
  10. I hope the comic wasn't packaged with the coelacanth
  11. True dat! Gene's work should never have been allowed to be colored. His B/W work is astounding
  12. I'm not suggesting that modern Marvel and DC are crap because i know that isn't true across the board (Besides, there's garbage in every era) but if both of those companies were presenting comic stories like these, I'd still be happily buying new comics. There are other reasons why I no longer buy new comics but I think I would be able to overlook those things if the comics read and looked more like the ones from the 70s and 80s.
  13. Comics Values Monthly's prices were in some cases (to borrow a term from our British cousins) bollocks. The one enduring memory that I have of CVM was the indie B/W comics being listed at silly values. Stuff like Red Fox, Fish Police, Adventurers, etc
  14. I love the Michelenie/Romita Jr/Layton run. Byrne on FF Zeck on Captain America And although it's DC, I don't think the Ostrander/Mandrake Spectre series gets nearly enough credit.
  15. This might make Shooter's New Universe look like a good idea.
