  1. To me, there aren't many books that look prettier than a high grade ASM 50. Nice haul! Agreed and that looks like a really nice 9.0 (granted the pic isn't the best quality but still)
  2. Sweet sweet 9.8 copy of one of the treasuries I need
  3. Bronty I understand where you are coming from. Ideally I would have wanted it to stay somewhat contained when this first started and not have threats of lawsuits etc. so that Mike would be compliant and discuss what happened. That ship has sailed. As to what "We" can do? There isn't much unless someone wants to bankroll this. Investigations are expensive. So are court cases. If the idea is to investigate the auctions, then someone has to get Heritage to disclose the buyers, then those people have to be contacted, give statements, have those statements run down and checked, etc. and maybe at that point there is enough evidence to go forward with a civil case. And that is of course if Heritage is willing to disclose (I doubt they are) I advise the cooling down because it allows for people to become calmer and more ready/open to speak. I highly doubt anyone is going to come forward and say "yea I did it because Mike asked me to" if there are people on here posting that we need to round up every co-conspirator, kick their doors in and try them for wire fraud and then sue them into the third moon. This doesn't need to be bankrolled at the class action level. All you need to find is someone willing to take the case. I suggest starting here. http://classactioncentral.com/ There is ample evidence for a solid case based on the admission alone. Mike's privileges against self incrimination are irrelevant here. There are many ways to skin a cat without Mikes testimony or cooperation. In fact, his admission is all that's really needed which he has given. Why are you defending wrong behavior in such NON-OBJECTIVE fashion by downplaying case viability? Good luck certifying a class on the "facts" presented. Agreed that CA might not be the way to go. That said, there are several statutes upon which a case can be brought . My point was that lawyer shopping the facts is a good next step if cooperation of restitution is not forthcoming. Jaybucks assertion that you need a bankroll to bring this case is disingenuous. Lawyers take cases all the time on contingency. Has Jaybucks never heard of a legal contingency fee? Jaybucks is intentionally? being disingenuous about the uphill nature of litigation for his own agenda driven purpose. What type of lawyer just says don't bother, its going to be hard? Especially without a full understanding of each prospective plaintiffs possible exposure. Heck, one poster said he spent $100k last year. You get several such collectors together and you have a serious case with possibly large real damages. If this is your opinion, you don't deal with many lawyers. They absolutely will refuse to take a case to court if they do not feel they have a good chance of winning. And by good chance I don't mean 50/50, not even 60/40. Especially on a contingency fee. Granted I deal with corporate lawyers so probably a slightly different beast but they tell me all the time that bringing a formal complaint won't happen because it isn't worth the money to litigate when they don't think they have a very good chance of winning.
  4. Will CGC send you tracking? No. However, if you select UPS shipping (and sign up for a free UPS My Choice Membership), UPS will send you tracking information on your package. This isn't true... sometimes. I regularly have had anywhere between 10-15 subs in at a time for the last couple of years. I'd say about 50% of the time CGC will send me an email saying that my books have shipped and it will include the FedEx tracking number. They aren't consistent with this as it happens maybe half the time, but it does happen.
  5. So the reprints aren't sought after? I would think from a completionist perspective, these would be no different than the X Men reprints, no?
  6. There is a 3rd. It is sitting in a box behind me Do you have a #45 in there by any chance? no such luck
  7. Sweet book. So Suscha had 3 copies of this and they were all 9.8. Really a great collection
  8. Couple of highlights came in today. Nothing earth shattering but all books in my wheel house.
  9. I've had a bunch lately. Really annoying. The last 2 azzhats are rzipp65 Robert Zipperer - this guy used to be a boardie, don't know if he still is. "bought" a high grade ASM 129 and no contact, no payment, nothing. He should know better. bhojnarineramnarine Bojnarine Ramnarine - 5 feedback bidder "bought" a high grade Hulk 181. With the feedback all being very old I guess I should not be surprised he didn't pay
  10. I think there are definitely more out there. Just not as many as some on these boards think/assume. At least not in the 9.6/9.8 stratosphere as Barton says. 9.2/9.4 is much easier but then that is below what the bronze uber grade guys collect.
  11. This has been said multiple times ever since I joined the boards... back in 2002. It's not working out that way. In those 13+ years we've had what 2-3 pedigrees (Don Rosa, Rocky Mountain, Suscha, any others?) surface that included uber high grade early bronze. Yes you would think there are more. I'm sure there are more. But either there are far less than people here think or they just aren't being found.
  12. Just got this little gem today. Highest graded and only 9.8 on the census
  13. It was cheap, $5. But I don't think it's a 9.4. It has about 4 hairline stress marks on the spine that are hard to see in the scan. As you and Bob well know, it's a beast to find a really sweet copy. But I keep trying... I see the stress marks but I think it will still get a 9.4. They are very light. And it is a beaut of a book
  14. I sold that very same copy of 76 about 3 years ago for less than half of the hammer price And the only reason I even sold it was because I thought the 9.6 wasn't deserving with a corner crease which isn't as obvious from the scan as it is in hand. Sonofa
  15. Thank you. I thought "5.5" myself, but 5.0 might be closer to reality. It makes me wonder if there's some massive opportunity to snag MCS offerings, then directly over to CGC for an uptick. Toss in fluff services and the mind boggles. 5.0? I just... can't...
  16. You are correct. The damage the OP is showing isn't caused during encapsulation. It is caused after the book is slabbed, most likely during shipping when the book is shifting around and banging up against the edge of the inner well. When the cover extends past the pages (as it does with a lot of older books) it is easy for it to bend when it is squished against the side of the well. So the solution is to make sure you trim all of your books ahead of time to ensure that the cover is flush with the pages. Problem solved
  17. Wow. You may want to call them and see if there is a problem. I have a 6/9 MST that is SFG and a 6/22 that is Verified. That is almost a full month after yours and a step ahead.
