  1. That's exactly what I'm looking for, thank you. I think it's why I generally never acquired high grade raw books... I'm not good at detecting all the tiny flaws that would separate a 9.4 from a 9.6 or a 9.6 from a 9.8. I've looked at that book plenty, and never even noticed the 'anniversary' color break.
  2. I am not very good at grading high-end books, and this seems to fit the category. I didn't even know I owned it until I was rummaging through my Hulk long box.
  3. Based on what the GD copies sold for, you might have underpriced it. But on the plus side, you made a fellow collector happy. That’s always fun to do.
  4. Wow... interesting looking at past sales of this book... I’ve got 3 copies in VF +/-condition... I was gonna slab them, but the unslabbed are selling for just as much or more. Go figger.
  5. You never know what people will buy. From the same box I mentioned earlier, I had an ASM 31 with a tear all the way across the front, and an ASM 39 with massive visible water stains front and back. Both got around $100. I was pleasantly surprised.
  6. I bought a box of comics sight unseen from my brother in law, an estate attorney whose client owned them. A fair amount of them have this discoloration. I’d agree with the 6.0 to 7.5 being the ceiling, maybe 8.0 under optimal circumstances. When I’m selling them raw on eBay, I don’t go higher than VF-. FWIW.
  7. Which would still make it worth more than a raw 6.5.
  8. That chunk out of the back hurts. But IMHO it’s better than a GD still, if not at VG. Gonna say 3.0. Really, the important part, the art, looks fabulous.
  9. I think his point was just on the chipping. Mine obviously has more wear. I think 4.0 sounds right... I’ll get it pressed just in case there’s a .5 bump to be had.
  10. The chunks along the right side... is that Marvel chipping? I doubt it, but, honestly, I never really understood what "Marvel chipping" was...
  11. They SAY tape won't count against it, but a lot of tape will. I have an ASM 13 with a spine covered in tape that I thought, hey, better CGC before the movie comes out. And since tape doesn't count, I should get like a 2.0 on it! ...wrong... 1.0. Still glad I slabbed it. But IMHO a lot of tape will be reflected in the grade. That said, yours presents better than that book, so I'm thinking 1.5.
  12. Eh, I got it 20 years ago as a throw in on an Avengers 200-402 run. And it has a new happy owner now! Win win!
  13. Well, for 65 bucks shipped I just made some guy on eBay very happy. Thanks, guys!
  14. I'm more 4.0 to 4.5... with the front cover lower corner nibbles, the tear, the spine, and the back cover chunks pulling it down... and the gorgeous color pulling it up. Beautiful book! I'm partial to stunning redheads... married one.
  15. Definitely doing the press on this. With fingers crossed. To be continued!
  16. I am not sweating it at all, dude, and neither should you. Whatever CGC gives it will be the grade, and nothing we say here will affect that one way or the other. I'm just getting back into this as I prep stuff for selling (eventually), and really appreciate the feedback here on grading. Actually, it helps me most on marginal comics... "to slab or not to slab, that is the question". LOL (slight detour) Hey, I'm just glad I actually BOUGHT this comic. And I vividly recall the circumstances. It was an eBay auction back in 2002. I remember it so well because I never was much into Thor, but thought, what the heck, I should own some key issues. So I bid on and won JIM84, 85, 86, Annual 1, and Thor 126 with Hercules... all in this level condition or maybe better... instant keys collection... in one auction... for around the cost of a used iPhone 6. LOL That plus my restored JIM83 (now a CGC 8.0 PLOD, also chronicled here) was the sum total of my Thor "collection". (okay, back on track)
  17. The press is a good idea, right? Mainly because of the top edge?
