PGM JIM 85... grade in... yowza!!!
oldrover replied to oldrover's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Yeah... those are much more visible to the naked eye than the "N". -
PGM Avengers 3... slab-worthy? Not sure...
oldrover replied to oldrover's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
I'm thinking 3.0 would be the cut-off for this book. But I've been wrong... I've got a Hulk 2 that I thought was a non-slabbing 1.0 that now I'm gonna get slabbed. (pressed first) -

Wow... that 'scrape' (on the "N", I assume you meant)...you would almost NEVER see with the naked eye unless you were looking specifically for it. I'm looking at it (for it? LOL) now, and it's almost not there depending on the angle. EDIT: Man, if this is only a 5.5, my TOS39 I posted can't possibly be a 5.5... dag-nabbit. . -
That has been trending on most of my submissions. Latest arrived USPS last Monday... it was received today, although obviously the holiday had an effect. Lately if they get it on Monday, it’s online by Friday.

You nailed it, sir. Well done! (my apologies for the blurry scan... this HP scanner doesn't do slabs for poo ... how do you guys photo your slabs? If I use a camera, there's a massive glare!) It will be interesting to see what this can fetch... like my AF15 (R), it presents way better than 6.0. If it had gotten an 8.0 or something, the discount would be monstrous.

I’m made the mistake of holding onto inaccurately graded books. Send it back.

The book's flaws kind of limit the grade bump IMHO, (the Hulk 2 I posted on this page is an extreme example of that LOL), but you might be able to get to a 5.5 if the creases were minimized. Again, JMHO.

5.0 for me. Better than VG, but the creases are, shall we say, less than Fine.

Do you remember the first SA comic you bought at a store?
oldrover replied to oldrover's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Same for me. I loved Stan's writing... so fun and hokey and REAL!!! Also, I'd say your $1900 spending spree turned into both a fabulous collection, AND one hell of an investment. -
With the color breaking creases, I’d say 6.0, maybe 6.5. Nice book!

Years ago, I bought a raw Silver Surfer 1, purported to be in VF condition (off eBay... but this really isn't about eBay) . When I got it, I realized it wasn't. More like FN, maybe FN+. But I decided not to do anything about it. Figured I'd just let it go, and time would be my friend in terms of the value. Just sent that book to CGC. It came back 6.0... ...restored. Color touch. It's not really worth unrestoring at that grade, if that could even be done. But that takes it from a $500 book to a sub-$200 book. The rant is two-fold... against people who over-grade in selling... and against MYSELF for not doing anything at the time when I had cause, WITHOUT the knowledge of the restoration. But if the person had KNOWLEDGE of the condition without disclosing... well...here's my message to him: Rant off.

Not so much a quick profit... I’ve owned it for 20 years... but definitely looking to maximize the profit. I saw the FF1 posted here that went from a 4.0 PLOD to a 3.5 Blue. You’re right about the visual, but the value went up considerably. And someone bought it. We shall see... I’ll post the results when I get them, for better or (hopefully not too much) worse.
