  1. Talking about it made me really look at it again. There is defiantly rust on the staples, there is a tiny bit of rust on the inside from the staples as well. Still not too bad for being stored in a envelope in a attic for 20 some odd years....
  2. Well it arrived. In a padded envelope, in a ZIPLOC bag It looks in relatively good shape, there is a ding on the top corner, and the bottom staple looks like it might have a bit of rust on it....a little bit of a black scuff mark on the back. Pages are unbelievably white. Cover and back are really glossy and shiny. I dunno what grade it would be, but doesnt look all that bad. Will post scans when have some time
  3. Here ya go chief! (*Note, my comments quickly turn inflammatory after his second email about 'getting what I deserve', but this dialogue should be good for a few laughs). Why was this auction ended early? I got a "buy it now offer" way above my expectations. I had bascially 3 bidders, two seemed serious. One of them made the offer. Why didn't you make a bid? If I bring out another one would you make a "buy it now" offer? I only use snipe bids on ebay auctions. Are you talking about bringing out a different one than you just ended? I'm confused, do you have more than the three copies? Guess you answered your own question. If you cannot come forward and make a proper offer and choose to bid at the end of an auction, then you got what you deserve. I guess snipes are beyond your comprehension, it is a bid. And thank you for confirming what I already suspected; you're clearly dishonest. You blatantly circumvent the rules of eBay, and out-an-out lie regarding condition. If you truly believe this book is an 8.5-9+, you're either very uninformed, or very crooked. I guess you took a break from running the carnival games at the local fair, to rip people off online. You're ignorance is beyond reproach. My wife is currently in the hospital and I cannot continue to babysit auctions and whiners like yourself. I took a price from the highest bidder. I understand what snipe bids are, I understand they are legal on eBay. I find them to be dishonest, just as you find myself to be dishonest. I am sorry you didn't get a chance to bid or took the time to contact me for an offer. Good day to you. How are snipes dishonest? It's a bid, the time placed has no relevance. You should learn some basic understanding of markets and how they work. I really find it amusing how you manipulate ebay to gain exposure of this book, and then go off ebay to avoid paying all fees the website generated, meanwhile the buyer assumes all risk involved in the transaction. Well done, Barnum! Clearly you have no financial integrity. One final thought of discourse; my girlfriend is in her final year of residency in psychiatry, if you'd like I can negotiate a structured-deal for your mental conditions. Think of the royalty streams if you become part of a case study? I have no need to explain myself to you or anyone else. Most crooks plead the fifth, I understand. The guy is a 73 year old man....defiantly not in good taste...
  4. Which part? That I should shut up or that I got lucky?
  5. Hope so, there are many things I wish to purchase. Anyways...that's all I have to say on anything till I have pics to post in either my journal or a thread I will make for Yellows.
  6. I guarantee you....GUARANTEE...that you will NEVER have a book pulled out from under you by me (or pretty much anyone else of any integrity around here) once a deal has been struck, simply because someone else saw it and came up with a higher offer. EVER. The answer to that is " sorry, but I already have a deal with someone else. If only you'd come by sooner!" That's essentially what an auction is: you run it and if it gets a bid, it is "in play" until the final second. You don't yank it, especially right near the end. Can you IMAGINE if there was a rare coin or painting being auctioned, and halfway through, the auctioneer has someone whisper in his ear and say "sorry ladies and gentlemen, the item has been removed from the auction, as someone privately made the owner an offer he couldn't refuse, and he's taken it." Can you IMAGINE?? I'd like to believe that, but the fact is, this HAS happened to me, countless times. I have waited patiently on eBay for auctions to end, then being sniped out at the last second. It happens all the time, everywhere. It really pisses me off, but that is the way of business, no? I do not know ANYONE who wouldn't take a better offer from someone else over what is currently being offered. Its just business. It sucks, and its the reason I sought out other places to pursue my hobby. I was getting majorly ripped off on eBay. I am just glad all my transactions here have been extremely pleasant ones with people who understand a comics intrinsic value. There are still are those who are only in it to make a profit and drive prices to their advantage, but on the most part, its a community of collectors like myself. There is a sense of security in that. My transaction with this seller was a good one. I cannot understand his judgement on eBay, I didn't make my transaction with him there, but I do know he wasn't a collector. Just some guy that found some stuff in an attic. I don't condone what he did, but I can't condemn it either. If I found some old gun or something in my attic and went online to sell it, I would take what I thought was the best offer too. I dunno...I have my copy, so I probably don't have a say in the matter. I know how disappointing it is to lose out on something I really want, so I will just shut up about it. I just don't feel this guy deserves such harshness because I feel I am a good judge of character. He was really nice and pleasant to talk to and deal with. But I guess most con artists are. Guess I am just lucky and got a good deal.....for once.
  7. Like I said, just like everyone else I have ever bought a comic from. Comics has gone from being a collectible to a business.
  8. I will comment as such....having spoken to the man personally and dealt with him, he is one of the nicest people I have talked to. His dealing with me was completely transparent and honest and he answered every question I had to the best of his ability. I haven't received my copy yet, but its on its way. All the shipping documentation is there. I guess I will have a full opinion when it finally comes, but as it stands now, he is no different than any other person I have bought from, either here or on eBay. I am sure he has his reasons for ending the auction the way he did.
  9. Didn't ebay have a cut-off time when auctions could no longer be pulled? I don't know if the ebay police actually monitor auctions to see if they get re-listed. I think you are allowed to pull an auction if the highest bidder makes a deal or more than 12 hours is left. I dunno, never sold on eBay
  10. yeah the seller took horrible pics. He said #81 was the best one. I guess I'll just have to see how bad mine is when it gets here
  11. Sorry to just burst in here...but WTF does that mean? Glad things worked out in your favour! -slym Thank you so much Slym. I am someone who needs closure on these kind of things
  12. There are several PS2 titles I've been watching for. Soul Reaver 2, Legacy of Kain: Defiance... I'm curious if the titles, both PS1 and 2, that you've purchased/downloaded on the PS3 transfer to the PS4.That's kind of a deal breaker for me if I either can't access or have to pay again for games I've already paid for. Same here. I'd hate to have to purchase everything twice. The games I'm waiting for VIA PSN PS2 download are the Armored Core 2, Timespliters and Dark Cloud Series of games. As well as Maximo vs. the army of zin. Found this: "The first reviews of Sony's PlayStation4 are largely encouraging — although many cite a lack of killer app launch titles. But gamers hoping to use their existing game library to supplement their experience on the new hardware will be disappointed: The PS4 isn't back compatible with PlayStation3 games, nor will digital purchases made for the PS3 be available on PS4 consoles at launch. Sony's cloud gaming service Gaikai will allow gamers to stream PS3 titles from the cloud next year, but there's no word yet on how many games will be available or if users will get automatic or discounted access to games they've already purchased. A Sony spokesperson did confirm that "some popular previously released digital titles" will be available to purchase on the PS4, and gamers who previously purchased them on the PS3 will be able to download the PS4 versions at no additional costs — and that gamers could "digitally upgrade" certain PS3 titles to their PS4 versions for a limited time with a $9.99 digital upgrade feed." http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-switch/wp/2013/11/15/playstation-4-cant-play-old-games-but-backward-compatibility-was-just-a-fad/ That's actually encouraging. I always wait about 6 months when a new console comes out, seems by that time most of the bugs are worked out (from a small veiwpoint). There really aren't many games I am interested in with the new PS4, but hopefully some new titles will surface that will make this a worthwhile purchase.
  13. Sorry to just burst in here...but WTF does that mean?
  14. Be patient, they are out there...but don't hold your breath on high-grade copies, which makes that set of 12 that much more impressive. I drool everytime I see that pic....ibeforej is a very lucky individual. We have exact some tastes for Maxx and Tick
  15. Let me add every single one except yellow #3 Man getting these ashcans together is going to be one of the hardest challenges I have put on myself I think
  16. Then again, if it turns out in ten years that the only yellow #3's that can be confirmed are the ones on this site, then I suppose any grade is a good grade
  17. to be fair, how many known copies of the #3 Yellow are out there? Just from this thread alone, we know there are 11 verifiable copies of #2 Black -- and at one point, RMA was sitting on 10 of them (pretty sure he's sold/traded a couple). but until these yellows popped up, the only #3 Yellow we've seen was ibeforej's (in her very lovely framed set of all 12). now, don't take me wrong here... I'm not trying to take anything away from RMA... he know's what something is worth and where to set his prices. i'm just saying that the #3 Yellows are probably more rare, even if they had a larger print run... and at the same price point, I'm not surprised they're moving quicker. Well with what looks to be the one in the worst shape selling for $400, I don't think they are going to go much cheaper than that....I am hoping I came out of this deal ahead. I am quite worried about what grade this is going to turn out to be.
  18. He's selling them at $600 now. I'd love one but can't afford it
  19. Did this same seller have those as well? He mentions other items in his listing... He told me he has a red Stormwatch ashcan and a #1 Maxx glow in the dark and some others, didn't say what else there was. I am pretty broke right now so didn't bother asking him what else there was Between eBay and here, I have spent far too much. I really gotta stop for awhile.
  20. No that was another seller, in Cali I think. Actually had a good collection of stuff, but I was just interested in the ashcans. Wanted $200 for all three, a bit high for just blues that werent CGC Here is the blue ashcans...
