  1. NICE BOOKS October!! I have to say, I'm starting to really like some of the Cole books... always thought they were cool, but yesterday I pulled the trigger on a GUNS AGAINST GANGSTERS #6, with a lovely dame vs. monster shark cover!! It could be the coolest cover next to GHOSTLY WEIRD STORIES #123 (Thing in the Swamp)... hey, why didn't that one make the cut?? Man, and those logos and the typography are just stunning ... what are the interiors like on those? Do the stories live up to the covers?? Great collection... beautiful books, October...
  2. Looking forward to seeing that one up on the boards, Surfer!!
  3. Man, after seeing that #31 scan of yours, I am really jonesing for one!!!!!
  4. Again, #29 takes over the thread!! (I'm getting to be a bigger fan of this book every week!!!) (BILL RULES)
  5. OUCH!!! the blinding colors on that copy ... must ... look ... away... If I had a bird, I would have to line its cage with my copy of the #10 ... yours just blows mine away. and, I KNEW there had to be Centaurs involved!! I would say that was a good move on your part ... those AMANs are among my favorite golden age books... hands down. ( I recall your AMAN #6 looking stunning as well)
  6. Six actually: Larson Mystery Men 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 10. And I know where the 3 is, too ( ). The Larson copies of Mystery Men 8 and 9 would be a nice find, but I'm not holding my breath. Believe it or not, I used to own both Church and then later Allentowns also, so this is my third go-round with Mystery Men. STEVE NICE!! Unbelievable... I hope I get to see those one day. Especially the #2 and the #10 ... I think #10 may be my favorite cover of the run. (did you post your Larson #10 earlier? May be time to post that baby again!) Only one question: HOW did you ever bring yourself to part with the Church MYSTERY MEN??? (must have been Centaurs involved...)
  7. Now that BIPComics.com has more than just me adding Golden Age books I figure now would be a good time to pimp BIP. And if anyone that I've bought books from before or has a good feeBay rating is interested in using BIP to sell comics just PM me here or through the contact us link on BIP. Currently BIP is a free service. I've recently added more features to BIP, including image hosting, search and more ways of checking out the available issues (listings, browse, search, and a catalog view). I'm hoping to make BIP a multi-vendor platform of selling books for those who are tired of feeBay. I'll vouch for BIP's service... it was a pleasure to deal with Gifflefunk... I picked up a lower grade MYSTERY MEN #10 from him (just arrived today)!! Nice pages, fast shipping, no bull. Very happy with the whole transaction. Recommended!
  8. Congrat's to you, Ryan - it's amazing how similar our collecting tastes our. Mystery Men 1-10 would be a great run. It's a daunting task, but I'm trying for the Larson run myself (well my Mystery Men 1 is the Denver and I don't plan on changing that). I have six of 'em so far, so I'm more than half-way home. I wonder where the Larson Mystery Men 8 is hiding out? STEV Yes, our tastes are incredibly similar... which would be a bad thing , except that our GRADE criteria is at opposite ends!! I can't compete with your collecting calibre... but at least I can find some crumbs left on the floor at the end of the day! So you have five Larson MYSTERY MENs?? That is an incredible feat in itself. I think the first ten issues are gems... the covers are really top-notch.
  9. And here's the other one ... this is from the board's own Gifflefunk!! And I will say it was a pleasure dealing with him ... very quick service , and the book lived up to its description!! Nice page quality, and solid. See his link in the Dealers thread... The #8 seems to be tough, maybe due to its AWESOME cover, so I was very happy to find this one!! Just love this Joe Simon cover... the use of color is incredible. (and Gifflefunk has some other nice Fox's, very reasonable)...
  10. Here's one of two MYSTERY MEN that arrived recently... I am half-way done my (low grade) run of MYSTERY MEN 1 to 10! This one came from Ajaxlargo, on Ebay. Really nice paper on this #8:
  11. That issue rules. It just got bumped up on my want list!!!
  12. You're welcome. You see, with the proceeds from that and others, I got this: So more Kudos to nearmint! In fact, I need to go post in that thread too...! Another Gerber cover cover down. 41 to go... BEAUTIFUL book Argo23!!! Just stunning. I have been eyeing those early EXCITING's , and its just a matter of time til I take the plunge...
  13. 29 for me... hard to beat the mood of that cover (except for maybe 31), and the story is killer!
  14. You are so right!!! An interesting thing about this cover (at least, to nerds like me), is that if you follow Aman's left arm, his hand (knuckles) are actually drawn in on the other side of the gorilla's leg, but colored green like the gorilla's leg! At least it appears that way ... maybe CentaurMan can confirm? Would it make a difference if his hand was colored properly? Either way, its a wicked cover.
  15. I think the LARSON copy of AMAN 22 can be found in the Heritage archives...
  16. Dear Steve, salt in the wounds... SALT IN THE WOUNDS!!! That issue's line up is even better than i thought... good to see lots of Guardineer mixed in there!! Not a lot of filler, all killer! If Metro didn't know I want the book before, they know now!!
  17. CentaurMan, First, thanks for the above comments... its great to know I've got a small army on the watch for this book!!! I know i'll snag it eventually, so I'm not too worried. But it still stings about when I think about missing it a few days ago! Second, a public congratulations on the AMAZING MAN 22... not only a tough book, and the coolest Nazi cover ever , but the Church copy!! That is one... GREAT ... FIND!!! Nice job!! I'm sure that copy will never see the light of day again in our lifetimes! What else can you say on a book like that ... the cover says it all...
  18. Hi Rick, No need to feel like you let me down!! I appreciate the thought, and the fact you would have shelled out that kind of money so I could get the book. Fact is, I PM'd Stephen a few minutes too late ... literally, a few minutes. I think it went to someone on the boards... I would like to know myself!! $$$$$$$ Anyone taking offers on that book? (Thanks again Rick! )
  19. Good enough for me. Congrats on your MYSTERY MEN 9 pick up!! Thats one more off the list!! Nice colors on that cover for a low grade copy ... the reds are quite faded on my copy compared to yours!!
  20. Sweet cover on that ACTION!! Congrats on filling the void!
  21. Collect different books? Might be an idea (Archies? Ninja Turtles?) ... the only thing that will erase the pain of missing my grail by mere minutes is the hope of actually finding it one day! Oh well, we've all felt this before...
  22. Ryan, Surfer brings up a point about Want Lists...I see you've always listed AMF 2/5 as being Wanted in your sig line, but what about contacting Metro and having them put the book on a Want List for you? That way, when the book comes in you can be notified direct instead of it being offered for grabs here on the Board? Just a thought... STEVE I thought I did that... I use both the want list service on Metro, as well as submitting my list to Frank... plus I check the Centaur list daily on Metro. What do I have to do? What other Centaurs are you looking for? Well, just about any Everett or Gustavson covers... that will simplify things!! WHY? What you got?
