  1. Jack, it's time for you to pick up a remaindered copy of Trina Robbins' The Great Women Cartoonists book. It's a great read for cheap. Here's the included pic of Tarpe Mills herein - Thanks a lot, Scrooge, for posting that info and esp. the photo!! I searched for it on the net, but to no avail! There is a great one shot story of her's in AMAZING MAN #6, called "The Ivy Menace". Cool story. And to Steve: that is an awesome KDF 2/7 ... but I'd expect no less from your collection!!
  2. And lastly, my favorite page from the first Masked Marvel appearance, KEEN DETECTIVE FUNNIES vol.2 #7 ... this is what its all about!!
  3. An awesome splash page from the first issue of AMAZING MAN, Burgos' "IRON SKULL". the month before MARVEL COMICS #1 came out ...
  4. Following Ciorac's lead, here are some other pages of interest from Centaur interiors.... I don't have a lot of Centaurs , and have posted practically all of them, so this will let me contribute something new. This is an awesome house ad from the same issue as the previous post (funny pages 3/9), back inside cover. Great Everett art! Hmmm... you know what I would like to see (Steve), a shot of the Everett splash page from AMF 2/5! Wow, that WOULD be something!
  5. Here's my CA copy of FUNNY PAGES vol.3/#9 with the markings. I think someone mentioned a few pages back that the collection came from an art instructor? Don't quote me on that (someone else can probably verify that). The page is from a nice Tarpe Mills jungle story ... that woman could DRAW!!! She is one of my fav's (and quite attractive if I remember correctly from a publicity photo).
  6. OK, I officially want that comic!! Very cool. I'm surprised that THE EYE wasn't by Frank Thomas, but regardless, what a great splash page!!! The Air Man story looks very cool as well. Thanks so much Ciorac, I appreciate the glimpse into your wonderful copy!! Looks like nice pages too! Yes, that second issue seems very tough. Saw one for sale once, but lots of tape on the spine. Wonder why its so tough compared to issue #1?
  7. SWEET Marvel Tales run!! Love those early issues ... i used to have a lo grade #94, back in the day ...
  8. Personally I like the page on the right better than the splash page. West Me too! Especially those bottom two panels, they are just too cool. I agree 100 %. Pure golden age!! Ciorac, is it possible to take a snapshot of the EYE SEES splash from that issue? I would love to see that. Eventually, I want to own the EYES's complete appearances. Anyone know if the EYE's first appearance is in KEEN DETECTIVE FUNNIES vol.2/#2, as stated in Overstreet, or is it vol.2/#12 (which lists it as the EYE's origin, which it is not, disappointingly!) Do you have #2 of DETECTIVE EYE? It sports a nice Frank Thomas diving cover, and seems to be much harder to find than issue #1.
  9. I have to agree (and was just going to post the same thing). Very, very tough book in grade - and difficult to find at all unrestored - but oh man that price range just makes me cringe. I'm perfectly happy with the A-Man 6 (which does retell our hero's origin...) STEVE Besides the substantially lower price point for A-Man #6, I also feel the cover image for issue #6 is superior to the cover image for A-Man #5. Now, is your copy of A-Man #6 up for sale anytime soon? You mean "copies" ... Steve is one of those greedy SOB's he keeps talking about! I have to agree with you 100 percent ... the cover to #6 is way better than #5 ... I'm not even sure the cover the #5 is by Everett, although all sources point to Everett. Regardless, #6 is one of my fav GA covers! (and Steve's copies are beaut's!!!)
  10. I have to agree (and was just going to post the same thing). Very, very tough book in grade - and difficult to find at all unrestored - but oh man that price range just makes me cringe. I'm perfectly happy with the A-Man 6 (which does retell our hero's origin...) STEVE C'mon Steve ... you know you want it. C'mon Ryan. That book is screaming out to you....BUY ME...BUY ME. S But then, I run the risk of hurting the feelings of my 1.8 copy!!! I don't think it could stand the humiliation of being the "beater copy" ...
  11. Well done, Ciorac!! I once owned a copy of that AMF ... will have to get another one one day. How are the stories in that DETECTIVE EYE? I would love to land those two issues as well ... if only for THE EYE SEES stories! ps: please PM me if you have a line on any other Centaurs!! Share the love!
  13. Can't wait! Excellent! MOST excellent!! Anybody have a release date for this collection yet?
  14. Years ago I was offered that book but turned it down (sight unseen) because I already had a nice copy. Seeing this lovely scan I now wish I had been a greedy SOB and picked it up! Maybe you'll consider selling your dupe to RyanH and get him off my back A seriously fabulous book CM, and a great way to end the year STEVE I'm way ahead of you Steve... CentaurMan, that is fantastic. The best purchase of the year for anybody IMO!! I have been to that page on Metro's site many times... nice to see it deslabbed. A hearty congratulations from AMF 2/5's biggest fan!
  15. Great book, October!! Nice and lurid. I bet the later Blue Bolts are also very attractive... have never seen one, but I like those covers. I approve of the avatar as well!!!
  16. When I went home at Christmas, I came across this nice surprise while going through my comic long boxes: TerryToons #7! I thought I had sold this long ago! I rescued it from the box of bronze age stuff, and now its back with my other GA books. A beater, but still a fun book!
  17. Thanks all! It feels nice to have put a (mini) run to rest before the New Year. I have to say that if I was more grade-conscious, this would have been a lot more difficult. The #9 has quite a bit of tape, and an extra staple. The #5 (#1) has lots of chipping and cover is detached from book. The #8 is a 2.0 . However, all the issues have very nice supple pages, and look much nicer on the insides than the outsides, and personally, I'd rather have a lower grade copy with nice pages, vs. a better looking copy w/ slightly brittle pages! After reading the Everett stories, I'd have to say this grouping stands out in terms of art, story and overall quality!! Lots of Timely-esque stories. Great artists... the first issues boasts Everett, Burgos (a great Iron Skull story with human-eating robot spiders!), Gustavson, T. Mills, and a nice Frank Thomas story. Fantastic stuff. Thanks to Jon Berk who inspired me to actually aquire all the Everett AMAN's, based on his Comicbook Marketplace article on AMAN!
  18. This photograph should be in some museum with a somber title card "Eight Centaur Comics and a Duck."
  19. I have no idea what the story is on the duck, but I'm going to contact the dealer this week and find out (the duck needs a spring repaired, so I'll take it into the "shop"). This is my first large/pricier toy ... I don't want to start in on toys quite yet, as there are still so many GA books I want! Must... focus....
  20. I'll try this group shot again... here are the six Everett issues, plus a KDF that came last week. Plus an awesome 100 year old tin toy lithographed duck that my girlfriend got me for Christmas!
  21. A bit late for Christmas, but my AMAN #5 finally arrived today!! That completes my Everett AMAN mini run ... #5 to 11. Its the only way I'll ever get to read the complete Everett AMAN saga! I read the first story, and I'm going to read the other six stories this afternoon... I love holidays. This copy is pretty rough (1.8), but the page quality is surprisingly nice. X 7
  22. Even better up close!! Nice book, AS! I bought a copy of that one this year, but it was missing a centerfold, so back it went ... broke my heart.
