Take a close look at the girl's eyes. It looks as if the printers ink missed a spot (there are a few printer "defects" on that copy). Structurally, a very sound copy. If the book wasn't so difficult to find, I'd be waiting on another copy.
Yes. I see it now.
Thank you.
This would have been a substantial upgrade for me. My found in the wild copy led a rough life

Curious to see where this one ends:
Contact Comics #12 Classic L.B. Cole Sci-Fi Cover Art Golden Age 1946 CGC 2.5 | eBay
Someone loved that comic. Do you think it is graded fairly?

I'm sure it's automated, but I checked a particular book to see how many folks are on the WTB list.. 195, with 16 added in the last six months. That seemed like a lot. So I checked Hulk 181 WTB list.... 1583 with 50 added in the last six months. It has to be automated.

All about luck in timing. I'm still upset about not being fast enough to check out on an Albedo 1 for $6 last year. But I've also gotten some sweet scores, as mentioned, so I can't be too bummed.
Yes sir. It's such a great feeling searching and finding that book, AND being the first to claim it.
I've found tough bakers locally, when purchasing small lots. One in a very small collection from the original owner. I bought 21 books from him, a few coverless, and a cigar box for $105. Amazing what is still out there. I need to employ a hair trigger at sites like MCS in order to be a player for books that I desire instead of relying on timing and luck.

To nab a book that quick, you'd either have to get lucky... or else you literally have no life and are constantly refreshing the MCS listings.
...Or maybe just a bit of both.
Timing.
I had been away and unavailable all day.
Just happened to log on and check MCS, someone else was lucky last evening.
I'll have another opportunity at another great book, as will we all.

Just found the listing. That's painful to miss that, especially at that price. 😢
Yes. Someone got a great book.
I was clicking the cart, and nothing was happening...lol. Next time, I'll be quicker.

missed it by mere seconds... Going Steady 12

Not everyone likes signatures on their books my guess without the signature would have sold for a lot more than 145k. I would never buy a signed comic book but that is me.
A much smaller amount of collectors buy signed books. Hey they enjoy it is a hobby let them have fun.
Agreed. Signature placement would be critical deal breaker for me, along with the presentation of the signature if I were a collector of such things. Some sigs look Really nice, while others look like a doctor's signature one gets on an order for a prescription

It seems that my copy is not the only one that had a "staining" problem near the N in Nellie. Appears to be a common enough problem for this issue. The mark above the L could be staining, green in color, could be a marker that has rubbed a bit onto the book. That mark on the back.? Not sure but it brings it down.

Directors and Editors are so important to a movie. I haven't seen a movie in the theatre since 2009. But I'm looking forward to the next Spidey movie.

Lovely books. Great picture!

Ah nope, it's taped in place and will not effect the grade at all. It will be graded as if the piece were not there in a Blue label tomb.
2.0Nice. At what point is Pieces Added applicable? Is it when book is above a certain grade?
-
After seeing the staples form the exterior, would like to see the centerfold.
3.5

A bit of writing inside?
That corner may get you the dreaded "pieces added" nomenclature.
2.5ish, but the eventual label color... ouch.

What is most upsetting irt PayPal withholding funds, when they have capability to release funds right away, they will do so IF I pay an extra 1.5% on top of the basic transaction fee. So upsetting.
-
Sold 3 books within the last two weeks. All were PayPal transactions. On the larger purchase, PayPal withheld funds until delivery was confirmed. There could be an amount where this policy of withholding funds begins. OR, on the larger purchase, I invoiced the buyer vs the buyer sending me funds. Not sure if that made a difference.

Maybe because it’s the 1st Mad Hatter and Vicki Vale? It’s also the one and only 9.6 copy to exist as well.
I think there are more than one 9.6 cgc graded copy...??

Love this question
1) Stumble upon and buy a few good books in the wild before someone else does. Maybe an original owner GA selection.
2) Find that diamond in the rough at a quiet little auction house and bring it home. Something that hasn't sold in a decade or more, making it tough to find comps.
3) Pass along another grail to a boardie in the WTB forum.
4) Add one forever book to the pc.
Nothing too extravagant, but fun is the name of the game for me.
