1939 NEWSSTAND PIC TIME MACHINE JOURNEY INTO THE PAST
David Buck replied to ajaxfarrell's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
try this issue of Enjoy Yourself courtesy of abebooks - it's listed as a 1945 edition ; and the cover image does look like the lower of the two copies https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=30472373347&searchurl=ds%3D20%26sortby%3D17%26kn%3D1945%2Bhumour%2Bmagazine&cm_sp=snippet-_-srp8-_-image1 -

I thought the left hand edge of the picture was a horse in the pixelated version! Here;s another one courtesy of MCS and they had the only image online so it is watermarked - the overlapping stack to the left of Breezy Tales is Complete Love - July 1945 -

So far I have been making a guess at the text on the cover and going from there, this latest one is courtesy of my comic shop listings and identified by the image rather than the text - they have a lot of pulps and magazines in general. filter the search to the approximate months - lead me to this - which I believe is two books to the left of the Eyeful magazine mentioned above, I haven't searched beyond this title yet -

How about this one for the issue to the left of the Front Page Detective Issue, Real Detective - Fall 1945 - text spacing on cover looks correct then on the shelf below and further to the left - Popular Songs Of Latin America -

This thread from 2018 discussed it - the Registry set has notes that it is a 1991 edition. if your copy matches the ones in the images in the thread then it should be this one - however, the ad for the flash H/C release in Dec. means it should be from 1990, As far as I am aware it was just a normal release for the direct market and not an in-pack item

nice one - another one off the list - here's 4 images missing from the CPVG that are as far as I recall from my own scans -
I still need to check that the dimensions match but I think it's going to be the source; I've seen it listed on abebooks where the superman is described as pulp paper, so it looks like DC printed this for the publisher and then it was tipped into the book - If you are aware of a handful coming from one source then maybe the publisher had a few copies left over loose at the end of the print run that they kept around for a while

Found the answer, I didn't see this last time I looked into it - so thought I'd share it - It looks like its an insert from the Book "Murray The K - Tell's it Like It Is, Baby" and someone has removed it and submitted it to CGC as a separate item, the only thing to check now is if the dimensions of the book mimic that of the copy in the CGC holder

Has anyone seen this promo before or have any more info on it? - beyond the one copy auctioned by heritage in 2009 I have never seen it mentioned elsewhere - besides it being a reprint from Superman # 182 with the single line of copyright text added to the bottom of the front page there is no info to be gleaned from the cover alone - with it being a 7 page story maybe the back cover would give away what it was a promo for - was it bought by someone reading this who can enlighten us? https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/superman-giveaway-2-dc-1966-cgc-nm-96-off-white-to-white-pages/a/191220-12553.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515

Official Canadian Newsstand Cover Price V****** Thread
David Buck replied to davidpg's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
Thanks , they have really added a lot of images since I last went on their site - my list of missing images is now down to 23 and it looks like I can help them out with some of their missing images - assuming they are up to standard - I have 43 they don't have up but some won't be good enough or are watermarked. - maybe 20-30 good enough to use - so the list now looks like this: Angel Love 1-8 (all issues - Is this just so low demand no-one is bothering with it or as it was an unusual title for DC was the US newsstand run too low to justify a CNS?) Captain atom 16 Heroes Against Hunger (Marvels' Heroes For Hope CNS is common - why is this one so hard to find?) New Talent Showcase 7-13? (the title had a partial US Newsstand run - same questions as with Angel Love as none found to date as CNS) Phantom Stranger 2 Son Of Ambush Bug 3 Teen titans Spotlight 10,19 Weird, The 4 (the US newsstands for this run become progressively hard to find - it looks like sales declined very quickly on this mini series) Zatanna Special 1 -

In my attempt to assemble images of all DC CNS I'm just short of 99% complete now - I just checked when I created the folders and coincidentally it was 4 years ago yesterday that I started searching for these , happy to post a few images of issues people want to check up on of course , although MCS and GCD have a lot of issues up now there are still hundreds of gaps in what you can find permanently online this is the list of the last Issues I have yet to see Angel Love 1-8 (all issues - Is this just so low demand no-one is bothering with it or as it was an unusual title for DC was the US newsstand run too low to justify a CNS?) Captain atom 16 Heroes Against Hunger (Marvels' Heroes For Hope CNS is common - why is this one so hard to find?) New Talent Showcase 7-13? (the title had a partial US Newsstand run - same questions as with Angel Love as none found to date as CNS) Night Force 13 Phantom Stranger 2 Sgt. Rock 413 Son Of Ambush Bug 1,2,3,5 (low demand it seems keeps this one obscure) Teen titans Spotlight 10,19,21 Warlord 124 Weird, The 4 (the US newsstands for this one become progressively hard to find - it looks like sales declined very quickly on this mini series) Who's Who Update 1987 5 Zatanna Special 1 I would love to see pictures if anyone has any of the above -

British Comedy A Touch Of The Sun from 1956 - featuring the UK Superman comic #72 probably published the year before - featuring the cover art from Action comics # 201 , The Australian #99 by the same publisher also below but not likely to be the issue featured -
Apologies for the poor snap (although I have added a further picture found online which is much better) - I thought this might be of interest - if people want to see a decent scan of this cover I will sort it out next week - this was an exclusive cover done by Bolland for a free magazine from a uk bank to accompany a two page interview and a competition to win one of 12 art prints of the cover sans text
