  1. Got another interesting showdown in the next CC auction. A Bat 2.0 (slightly brittle) and a Cap 2.5 (tan to offwhite). Don’t know how significant the difference is between slightly brittle and tan, but page quality ain’t their strengths. The Cap 1 especially seems to have good eye appeal. Not sure how the presence of tape may affect the hammer price.
  2. Absolutely the best Cap cover ever ever. It’s Schomburgs magnum opus, in my opinion
  3. Does fed ex require the sender to identify the box contents? I wonder how the “label switch” scammers choose their boxes
  4. I don’t think that is in current production, so you are buying refurbished? ill want to know how it works for you
  5. Really? I heard it was a 2 owner book. Is that accurate? hey Primetime, as you can see, I decided that $25k PPP was just a fairy tale and gave up on it
  6. It better be. If not, that wailing sound you hear next will be me kidding. Adam and I never totally broke dialog on this book. Although I admit to chasing other shiny objects here and there before coming back. Adam is a great guy for the patience he showed, and his knowledge on comics generally
  7. It’s true the CC 3.5 had glue on it, which does seem consistent wth restoration removal. Also, it had tape and a signature on it. Might have affected the final hammer price. I guess time will tell what truly is the Cap 1 fmv PPP. My $25k PPP offer was not meant as a sign of disrespect. It’s a sign I want in the Cap 1 club! You guys are cool!
  8. I was the underbidder on the 7.0. I stopped at $241k when it became clear to me the other guy had bigger balls than me. So I let the Cap 1 3.5, also going at the same time in the CC auction, go to another forever home. The 3.5 went for $86k. I was willing to pay $34k per point on the 7.0, but the 3.5 didn’t garner as much love. It went for a shade under $25k pp. That’s pretty funny, truly. But see above answer. Unless its a 7.0, I’m not lowballing anyone. Actually, I’m offering auction prices at $25k pp
  9. So why don’t one of you guys sell me your Cap 1 undercopy!
  10. Unbelievable. Dropped out at after about the 7th bidding extension
  11. i hate it when that happens. But another cool book is right around the corner . . .
  12. Excellent prediction. I stopped at $241k. It was just me and one other guy, and he had bigger balls than me
  13. I think the last bat 1 you sold is now sitting in my safe deposit box
  14. Must be an odd feeling to see your own books back out on the market
  15. I guess collectors seem to favor brittle pages over green label, At least at this point in the auction
  16. I’ll also be interested in the final hammer differential between the Cap 1 3.5 and the 7.0. I think the lower graded books normally fetch a bit higher price per point than the higher graded books, only because there’s more bidders who swim in that end of the pool. The fact that there’s writing on the 3.5 Cap 1(Joe Simon’s signature - which is great, for sure!) as well as a piece of tape might affect things, though.
  17. Looks higher than an 8.0 to me, anyway. I don’t think CGC marks off for the bindery chips on the corners. Yes, this is a great copy of a great book. I know the recent 8.0 went for $40k
