  1. I hate that books merely deemed “conserved” no longer get the purple label. I only saw that the labels were blue and made a faulty assumption
  2. Steve Borock on the left, and William Hughes on the right oh wait. You asked “what are they”? “They” are my future books, at least in my dreams
  3. Where does it end. Only 2 people know the extent of the work: the owner and the presser. The rest of us are left to guess and I don’t want to guess. That makes me uncomfortable. And I don’t need to. I’ll leave that to others. Once you let the camels nose in the tent it’s only a matter of time before you got a camel in your tent i seriously considered that 9.6 and I would have not enjoyed learning of its tortured(to me) history
  4. I like you Richard. Doesn’t mean I agree with you. I do not agree with you.
  5. It’s my understanding that one of the earliest pioneers of this art just got hired by Heritage
  6. It just takes the fun out of it for me. If I owned the book and then found out about the rework, I could not look at the book without feeling manipulated by some shadowy cloaked figure. I know there’s some will wanna drop a brick on my head for saying that
  7. I’m so glad I didn’t buy that. Avoided a lot of upset
  8. I'm trying to figure out who was on the news stand first: Lex Luthor or Joker/Catwoman. I've looked online and thru my reference materials, and it appears as though Action 23 and Batman 1 were on the news stands at the same time. Can this be true? That DC just decided to unleash the hounds of evildoers at the same time? I can't think of any other mainstream bad guys that would have come out earlier than these guys. I think both Superman and Batman had other lesser "bad guys" appear before Lex Luthor and Joker/Catwoman, but they just didn't catch on. Is it just coincidence that the epic bad guys Lex Luthor and Joker/Catwoman appeared on the stands at exactly the same time? I tried posting this question under the thread "Hierarchy of Golden Age", but got no response. Thought I'd try it here.
  9. In trying to understand the milestones, I know Bat 1 introduced some of his greatest villains, Catwoman and the Joker. Does anyone know if this book was on the stands at the same time Superman’s nemesis Lex Luthor was introduced in Action 23? If not, which came first? Were there any major mainstream villains introduced before these 3? thanks in advance
  10. You may be right, but sheesh; somebody find me a ledge to jump off
  11. How is that only a 5.5? Slight chainsaw damage on the back cover?
  12. Shoot. I’m still thinking about your All Winners 12!
  13. Oh he got the Peter Panda 5. An 8.5 if I remember correctly. I bid on that, more out of respect for verzyl than anything else. But I actually did like the cover
  14. Get one of those time traveling deloreans, and you will soon have an Action 1 for 10 cents
  15. I love the first story in that Amazing Man. It’s been years, but as I recall Aman is wandering around Europe when WWII comes to his attention. He decides to check it out and for grins wants to see what life would be like in a concentration camp. So he breaks into one. One guard is quite worried Aman is not getting enough to eat and urges him to eat more soup. Crazy. If only we knew then what we know now
  16. No movie(subby), no decent movie(torch), I guess is why the fall from grace
  17. I think it’ll have legs. First of all, it’s Cap. Second of all, it’s Schomburg. To me it’s the Stan lee connection that resonates, but it’s also a classic cover and the first cover appearance of his arch-nemesis, the Red Skull. It’s been on fire for 5 years and will appeal to even the youngest collectors as they evolve into the obsessed maniacs they will soon be
