  1. Whoa. What 9 year old could resist? THIS IS ENTRAPMENT
  2. I like this cover. There’s a Promise book coming up at Heritage
  3. After all the spotlight the Promise Collection has brought Heritage, I’m glad to see CC getting back into competition. Love em or hate em, competition is a good thing.
  4. Since the Promise copy cannot boast the highest graded, I would say $12-14k. It’s a great cover, and I think the time has come for books with Matt Baker art to get a boost. I myself am responsible for the $8k sale on the 9.4 Church 58 back when Fischler sold off his Planet run, but I think I overpaid, and that was an outlier (at least back at the time).
  5. Same question for the 2.0 Bat 1. This will be interesting. Add to the uncertainty the fact that these books are going in the last big auction of the year, which is normally the kiss of death for sellers. I personally predict none of the price weakness normally associated with sales this close to the holidays. A 2.0 Bat 1 brought $220k in the last big Heritage auction just last month, but the eye appeal was much better than the Promise copy. Instead of vomiting forth all the preceding words, I guess it would have been easier to just say "Heck if I know"!
  6. I’m not sure why this thread doesn’t already exist, but it’s clear the world can no longer afford to exist without one! So show em if you got em, and by all means show us your wins!
  7. Of course. My favorite book, actually. A million thanks to you. I think I saw you post somewhere that you finally landed your Suspense 3, right?
  8. My thumb is already tired from pulling that trick on my other books
  9. For 5 months I’ve waited for the Promise Cap 37 to come to market. I can’t even begin to tell you. I would have mortgaged the house for this one. I’d already planned out my acceptance speech. But then the image went up.
  10. I’ll diary my calendar and give this thread another bump in 20 years. And I agree with your crystal ball reading
  11. Sellers remorse has shattered many a good man. do you have an opinion on whether or not this is a Baker cover? I’m no expert, but it doesn’t look like it to me
  12. I don’t know why I didn’t think to post this earlier, but here are 2 similar books that heritage recently sold: the Crowley copy sold in a weekly auction, and the Promise sold in the big heritage auction, which ended a week later. Since I basically had my choice, I scrutinized them both closely and actually posted my dilemma elsewhere here on the boards. It was my conclusion that I preferred the Crowley 7.5 to the Promise 8.0, a sentiment shared by those boardies who saw my post and weighed in on it. So which one went for the higher price?
  13. 3 x OPG to 10 x OPG, depending on how close OPG is to true market value. The stud WW II cover Timelys are around 3 times guide since OPG is closer to reality there. OPG is pretty far from reality on many LB Coles, Matt Bakers, romance and precode horror, so those go for up to 10 x OPG. now if you’re asking does a Promise pedigree book beat a non-ped book of like condition, from what I’ve seen, the answer is I don’t know. So far, the Promise books have brought to market books the like of which I don’t see often enough to compare. I am looking forward to how the first real Promise keys (though of lesser condition) perform. I refer to the Bat 1 and Cap 1.
  14. Ok I’ve gotta respond to that one. I, too, find the anatomy a little wrong, especially the guy on the left. What makes this a masterpiece, for me, is the bottom half. It’s Holocaust depiction is haunting
  15. If for no other, Novak has left his imprint with this unforgettable cover
  16. Current heritage weekly is top picture, next heritage big auction is the second picture
