  1. I didn’t at all interpret what you said as critical. We’re all just shooting the breeze about the hobby we love
  2. Were I to try to adopt the attitude that dust shadows and bindery defects don’t matter, I would have to drink the kool-aid. I don’t like kool-aid. I bought a book that was probably overgraded, but I’ve never seen it in this condition in 20 years of looking. So I answered the bell. I could maybe have left a few more bucks for my heirs by leaving it alone, but hey, that’s their problem. I like the book.
  3. I prefer to think of it as a mating ritual between suitor and bride. That said, no one put a gun to my head and made me bid. I was happy for the opportunity
  4. This is the first book I’ve seen that looks like it was actually read by one of the brothers
  5. I’m happy for you too, Matt. Your shop in Carrollton is now such a distant memory
  6. 6 to 8 weeks is what that means. I just asked yesterday
  7. REHOLDER customers. Take heart! Only a 1 day TAT for a high value reholder. I guess this would be true of the reholder of any book north of $50k. I’m really shocked. They don't advertise it as being this quick. (Mind you, it still took them 60 days to open the box). They tell me another 6-8 weeks for the non-high value reholder. D’oh!
  8. OMG, folks. Have you seen this update on the CGC site? Tropical Storm Elsa Preparations Posted on 7/6/2021 The Sarasota offices of the Certified Collectibles Group are closing early today. The Sarasota, Florida offices of the Certified Collectibles Group® (CCG®) will close at 4:00 p.m. (Eastern time) today, July 6, to give employees additional time to prepare their homes and families for Tropical Storm Elsa. Depending on weather conditions, resumption of normal business hours may be delayed. CCG's Sarasota offices are housed in secure, state-of-the-art facilities that are built to withstand hurricane conditions. The buildings are located approximately 10 miles inland and are not located in a flood zone. As always, procedures are in place to ensure the safety and security of all collectibles in our care. HEY @G.A.tor! How are those hills of North Carolina looking to you about now? I think its now official. There's a signpost up ahead. We have now entered the Twilight Zone
  9. Let’s not overthink this. Let’s just go with the red and white wig wag signal flags
  10. I’ve got 2 reholders delivered 5/7 and never marked received. High dollar books when the Blackstone acquisition went public last week, I was sure all of cgc was about to go into even more of a severe slowdown. so it is with great surprise and delight that I see my box got opened today!
  11. I’d heard they don’t necessarily feel the need to disclose flaws readily apparent, but this is an example of the confusion this policy generates: 1) purchasers are left to guess which flaws were considered to be production flaws (and therefore not considered when setting the final grade) VERSUS those flaws not considered to be production (and therefore affirmatively considered when coming up with the final grade). 2) How are subsequent purchasers to know if a flaw came AFTER grading thru a shaken comic syndrome? If it’s not noted at the time of grading, subsequent purchasers cannot know if the flaw was noted, evaluated and taken into consideration in assigning the grade. Or not
  12. CGC did not note the rubbing/abrasion in their graders notes any more than they did the tear at the bottom. For that reason alone, I assumed cgc felt both to be a production flaws. Why else wouldn’t they appear in the notes? unless they chose to ignore them for other reasons, I guess
  13. Gone already. That’s some powerful mojo you got there Gotham!
  14. I see it sold for $107k 7 years ago, so sure let’s list it for $20 k less? good find @woowoo
  15. Gotta be. Low feedback and leaving $100k on the table. I just sent him an email. Let’s see if he answers
  16. Yeah, but isn't this the same guy who forgot to proactively inform the collecting base for the first 5 years of CGC's operations about this rather significant change in terms of their restoration definition and grading standards, especially since everybody within both the hobby and industry had viewed standalone pressing as restoration back then. Since Borock was the tip of the “maximization of potential” spear, now embraced by our benefactors, why is he now gone from there? p.s. I’m probably the only guy here doesn’t know. but if, in my ignorance, I’m asking a radioactive question, just pass by
  17. There’s a nice lean style to his work. He’s good with human anatomy, and given the chance, he may have given a run for their money to some of the big name GGA artists
