  1. anyone make it to the show in traverse city, last weekend, and have any CPG news to share? i didn't think so.
  2. so, you're probably wondering why crumb thinks he's an insufficiently_thoughtful_person? i'm not surprised by crumb's comments but it's the old, "if you don't have something nice to say..." crumb is definitely in a different league than welz, so why is he surprised by welz wanting to go down the bs hollywood path?
  3. Whats this Has work by Cory Hinman, Tyler Rubenfeld, David Petersen, Jesse Rubenfeld, and of course, Jeremy Bastian's Cursed Pirate Girl.... limited to 300 numbered copies.
  4. A valued opinion (thumbs u I liked the #3 issue the best though. (thumbs u i'd have to agree that the third issue was the best... so far. bastian might not be the next neil gaiman but i'm optimistic that he'll get better as he practices his craft. it's no secret that the art work is what sells the book. bastian is a top-rated rookie in my book. he's worth supporting and CPG is definitely just the kind of break from superheroes that a lot of us appreciate. but, it might not be everyone's cup o' tea.
  5. (thumbs u Dare I ask what you paid for them ? buy low, sell high.
  6. WOW! Nice MP15!!! Very nice! Were they subbed by themselves or as part of a bigger sub? That was the whole group. Every year I renew my membership, get the coupon, and take advantage of CGC handling the shipment to Florida via a con drop-off.
  7. Tip of the hat to the fast turnaround on my Motor City Con drop-offs. (thumbs u
  8. I have to tip my hat to the quick turnaround time on the books I dropped off at Motor City Con. I really wanted to keep this baby raw but I could never get a consensus on the grade. Fine minus works for me.
  9. http://www.detroitcomics.com/ had a David Petersen and Jeremy Bastion signing today, to coincide with the release of Legends of the Guard, but the books didn't arrive on time. Luckily this print was available. I had them do the ole' reverse sketches. They turned out great.
  10. Here are the two doodles I got at Green Brain Comics on FCBD and the print that Jeremy was passing out. He wasn't taking any commissions... I had to wait til' Motor City Con.
  11. Cursed Pirate Girl The Collected Edition Volume 1 is scheduled for Fall 2010.
  12. Jeremy Bastian was handing out free copies of Freaks magazine from Olympian Publishing (Mar 2010) ... OlympianPublishing www.OlympianPublishing.com ... which features an interview with Bastian and details on other projects he's involved with. Maybe you can contact them if you'd like an issue. Magazine is slightly larger than scanner. Here's a sample:
  13. Dear lord what is with that guys face? I never noticed his face until now A sloping forehead like that isn't on my wishlist.
  14. Here are some of my grabs from Motor City Con. I also picked up some Dan Parent stuuf but haven't had time to scan it. Maybe later?
  15. I really enjoyed meeting Jeremy at the Motor City Con. His art is definitely unlike anything else out there... it reminds me of early comic strips from the platinum age. The story is a little choppy in places as Bastian tries to convert the beautiful pictures into story and dabble with comic book devices. . I've read the first two issues and I'd recommend it to my friends. I think there's a lot of excitement surrounding the book for good reason... it's a labor of love that tells a magical tale reminiscent of Peter Pan, Little Nemo, or Alice in Wonderland. We worked out a deal on a commission that required a little more work than his usual con sketches. I couldn't be happier with the piece and wish him great success with his comic.
  16. If my name was on the list, I'd appreciate your alerting me, sir. (thumbs u
  17. I asked Jeremy Bastian what the print runs were when he was at Green Brain Comics on FCBD. He said he didn't print many of the original first prints that he brought to Wizard World Chicago (about 5 years ago?) and he really didn't know the numbers on the current print runs. He said I'd have to ask his publisher. He also said # 1 would probably be getting another printing.
  18. Big kudos to Comicsarefun for a great indy comic lot, excellent shipping, and fast service!
  19. does the new buyer know that the book was on hold? i couldn't knowingly derail another guy's deal? as far as i'm concerned, the book had a deposit placed on it, and is on hold until the buyer backs out... given the new info.
