  1. One of the first books I picked up when I got back into comics a few years ago. Still one of my favorites.
  2. Very interesting stuff. I'll have to read both stories, now I'm actually looking forward to the Skylark just as much as Rogers. And I named my dog after Buck rogers
  3. Yah complete copies are beyond my budget now. I usually avoid coverless but I figutr this book has more going for it than just the cover 🤔
  4. 120. Felt a bit high for a coverless, but I figure of a cover ecer shows up I could likely get it for under 200, which means the while copy is still in my price range 😀
  5. My other pick up from yesterday. Sadly the front cover is a facsimile.
  6. I had a rare treat yesterday. A bookstore had 3 copies of the first edition of The Outsiders and Others, and a copy of the first print on the shadows over Innsmouth (white cover). I got to leaf through a copy of Outsiders but Shadows was in a bag. He also had a collection of prebound leafs that he said 7 copies were made as a promo or something, but the price tag on that scares me as much as a good logecraft story!
  7. Yah it's an interesting piece of history. Game is God awful. Story was they only had 1 developer work on it, and didn't even give him much time so it could be in stores by Christmas. Just incompetent corporate oversight.
  8. Oh yah, I don't even try on HA anymore 😅
  9. If anyone is looking to aquire or be rid of pulp pieces, feel free to post here. I am looking for a front cover for Amazing Stories V3, #5 August 1928 (Buck Rogers) a full cover for Cupid's Capers October 1933. a full cover and first several wraps for WEIRD TALES Dec 1924
  10. Feels like a strawman. Bookery gave an example of collecting something not indicating you support it, and you're running it into Roy Orbasan wearing an iron cross while performing being insensitive to holocaust survivors. Is the iron cross a nazi symbol and did Roy wear it to show support for nazi ideology? I'm actually asking and not in a sarcastic way because I don't know him or his music but you seem to. To bring things back to the topic we were actually discussing, how do you think misogyny plays into the desire for people to collect old pulps and comics. *edit* and the original post wasn't calling anyone a misogynist, he was just pointing out the inherent misogyny involved in the shudder pulps.
  11. I think there is a hint of truth in what he says, but he imo misses a lot of context. The shudder pulps are obviously misogynist, but that isn't really why I collect them. I find it fascinating that such over the top media was produced in the 1930s and sold on newsstands, so I love the books as examples of what was once produces. I don't think that makes me a misogynist, nor do I have any real interest in similar media produced decades later. I like old stuff that I find rare and interesting.
  12. They used to put coccaine in the paper. Only reasonable explanation
  13. The link on first page is to his Facebook, where i recognized a picture of the vendor mall he stocks. The comments were about spokane so I was curious which shop it was.
  14. Oh wow, I've bought booka from this dealer before, he stocks an antique mall in Idaho with a surprisingly good mix of books at good prices, which is rare these days. He even has a few pulps. This is a real shame.
  15. Pair of lower grade books I just picked up.
  16. Such a great book to have. Tower of the Elephant, my fav conan sstory.
  17. That's wild, I can't find a copy for sale anywhere. Might have to start taking better care of my copy, figured I'd replace it if it fell apart but now I might not be able to.
  18. There seems to be a bit less stigma about condition of pulps, but it varies greatly from collector to collector. If you're finding yourself more interested in pulps, I'd highly recommend the bookery guide, as I find it to be an invaluable reference. It also covers grading criteria.
  19. 1. 42 2. A process of inbred fertilization which employs certain decomposed organic materials--including but not limited to animal sediment--to blanket an area in which vegetation is desired. The procedure enriches the soil for the stimulated plant's development while, at the same time, preventing erosion and decreasing the evaporation of moisure from the ground. 3. Why not?
  20. I can take a peek at mine, although i think I had to make a custom bag to fit.
  21. Love this book, his pa is such a contacerous old coot. And the abuse poor olive oil goes through is something else.
