  1. Bob Beerbohm is still around, though he's banned from these boards. He's most likely on facebook. The Gump book is such a weird oblong size that I don't think anyone encapsulates them, It's like the early Mutt and Jeff books by Ball, and books published by Embee. Congratulations on finding one in such nice shape.
  2. My scanner doesn't handle slabs Midget Comics 1 Matt Baker Cover Apparent 7.5 restoration slight B-1 spine sealed to cover. Book was pressed by Joey. Will ship anywhere
  3. GLWTS, if you have the 7.5, this is the currently best copy on the market, because I can guarantee the 9.0 isn't for sale.
  4. It's probably the first comic dedicated to a character called GI Joe, there were other stories including GI Joe characters earlier, for example Police Comics 40 from 1945 had a GI Joe story
  5. Glad you like it, it was my copy for a lot of years before I upgraded
  6. The brittle pages probably makes your the winner, Shirley's improvements to the cover art put's this one in contention.
  7. I was ordering the Dell Huck Hound 10 CGC. It went through on the fourth try, so no problem. I'd put it in my cart, get through the adding address section, and it would come up "Cart empty". I'd go back to the listing and add it to my cart, which would result in the message that I couldn't add it because it was already in the cart and there was only 1 in stock. Like I said, it worked the 4th time so there no problem, just documenting the glitch for you.
  8. Kept getting to the step in checkout after entering my address, but before paying and it would come up as no item in cart and kick me out. The fourth time through it worked correctly. Monty
  9. Some of the earlier four color had it printed on the cover, They also usually had the numbering on the first page, usually in the bottom left panel OS18 in the case of the issue below which stood for One Shot 18
  10. Local antique shop had a box for $5 each, mostly the usual low grade Dell's, but found a few, Lines on the right side of the covers are from my scanner.
  11. Antique Malls have been good to me over the years, you see a lot of overpriced drek, but every so often there's a find that makes it worth the time. There's a shop I stop at in Kansas once a year that has all the comics in a box at the back for either $5 or $10. There are the usual gold key bugs bunnies for $10, but every time I dig through there are a few surprises. These two came out of that box, not high grade, but well worth $10.
  12. Spare bedroom where I live, and a large comic book room at another location where most of the reading material is kept. There's a lot of good reading in the drek.
  13. 54,000+ with 1.4% slabbed, probably 30% Gold, 25% Silver, and 45% not worth the paper they're printed on, but still good reading. Still but a few new releases, but cut way back about 10 years ago.
  14. Back in the 1980's when i worked in North Dakota a co-worker was after me to look at some Captain America Comics he had, He was younger than me and I figured probably a bunch of Bronze Age, maybe Silver, nothing too exciting. One day I brought in some pictures of the Timely Caps just to check him out, he pointed to the Cap #1, and said, that one's there for sure. Needless to say we were immediately in my car heading for Orrin ND, about 75 miles away, when we got there the old guy living in the house said he'd gotten tired of all the Junk in the back room, and last week he'd taken it all out and burned it. I scored a number of Golden Age collections out of ND over the years, but that one always bothered me, missed by a week.
