  1. OK, I think a few things are getting confused here.

For starters, I never said anything about a special witness, or handing books off to someone else, etc. I just suggested the possibility of scheduled CGC SS signings where you (or your proxy) would bring the books by the booth at the scheduled time and all of the CGC SS books could be signed at once. There is no additional fee for a special witness, and no reason you couldn't bring the books by yourself.

Also - if Tim and Mehdi decide to offer free sigs on any/all CGC SS books, then that is certainly their right to do so, and their decision to make. If they also just want to sign books as they are approached at the table, that's fine too. I've just seen it once too often where someone walks up with a large stack of books to get signed for resale (multiple copies of each cover, etc), and this not only holds up the creators for anyone else that might like to talk to them, but it also is taking advantage of the creators for monetary gain. Obviously, this is the exception and not the rule, but...it happens. There are several people that travel from show to show making a living by getting books signed and graded for resale.

  2. Mehdi Cheggour and Tim Daniel are on guest list for NYCC 2015. Might need to do a CGC SS

    "Might"!???? ???

We need to work out the specifics - however, in all likelihood we will be setting up special signings for CGC SS.

Why? Its a public convention not a private signing even as far as I know. I hardly think there will be a shortage of CGC witness around for the person to grab and get a SS done. I've found many creators willing to work with the person personally. I'll give you an example Cullen Bunn has great fan friendly social skills and signed a few of my books for free even with a CGC witness a while back. 2c

Maybe setting up special signings for CGC SS doesn't mean the creators won't sign books for the fans in artist alley or elsewhere like if they have scheduled signings at a booth. Special signings is prob just an easier and more efficient way to get books signed directly with CGC SS. I could be wrong, though, but I'm sure Court will clarify the details.

    (thumbs u

This just streamlines the process so all CGC SS books can be tackled at once, and we don't have to worry about having someone walk up with 100 books and asking to have them all signed while other fans wait for a chance to talk to Tim and Mehdi. This also means that only one witness needs to be present for the whole signing, etc. Less work for Tim and Mehdi, less work for CGC, less guessing for the cusotmers as to when they might be available, etc. Should be a win-win.

They will, of course, be happy to sign all other books at any time in AA provided that they are not for CGC SS.

Listen, and understand! That Terminator JayDog is out there! It He can't be bargained with. It He can't be reasoned with It And it he absolutely will not stop, ever..

lol You guys are hilarious. Fighting this long and this hard, trying so desperately to cleave to the notion that, on a good day, your walking dead 1 with a black "mature readers" label instead of a white one, "might" go for an extra fifty bucks. Truly, hilarious, especially considering some of the monster books most of you own that actually do make people drool with envy. :roflmao:

    -J.

FWIW, I don't own a single copy of Walking Dead 1. Makes no difference to me.

  4. I feel compelled to do an analysis of price differentiation... hm

Please do. See what I see.

    Year 2015

    Labels Average of Price

    white $1,990.44

    black $1,985.33

    Grand Total $1,989.17

    SELECTIVE Reading ! :whee:

    FTFY! (thumbs u

Doesn't change what it says though, now does it? ;)

    -J.

I love the way you deftly select one juicy apple from the whole bunch and take a big bite out of it while in the same sentence calling the whole bunch of apples rotten. It really is an art form. You really should be in politics.

  5. I agree, there does not seem to be a price difference. But it is hard to say that for certain because the price of any WD #1 is pretty volatile.

    :shy:

While it is open for debate for some and I see what your doing here...it's not uncommon to change you opinion as the data comes in or the debate continues. We all have done this one time or another.Well most of us...my brother is always right even when he is wrong.Which makes me to want to be right even when I wrong. Which makes for an unhealthy debate. Which makes me want to add something more profound to this dicussion. But after rereading what I just wrote I definitely think I'm better off with the very short responses...

I like Walking Dead comics.Yeah much more natural for me.

Wait a second....!!! JDog is your brother...?!?!? :ohnoez:

  6. Still trying to figure out how the Tec 31 showed no splits when it was a 6.0 and now spine splits present when now a 5.0.. Had I known back then it would re-grade a 5.0 I would've resent it to CGC.. Argh!?

Because the splits were sealed, CGC realized they missed the seals, the book was regraded and the seals were reopened.

And don't feel too bad. Had I known what Detective 31s would be going for today I never would have sold the 7.0 for a down payment on a house. I would have waited and sold it to buy the whole house.

Had I known what Action 1s were going to go for, I would have sold the house, bought a few and ... gotten divorced and ended up homeless! :D

    :signfunny:

  7. With this business model, it's always also possible that the book is listed in multiple other venues, and if the consignor does not diligently monitor his consignments, listings can be neglected and books can be offered on CC or CLink that have long since sold elsewhere.

At least on Clink you can see how recently a book has been added to inventory.

  8. he did it to himself, pride is a powerful thing, sometimes people just can't swallow it, no matter how much reason or truth is offered to them.

He allowed himself to be played. By the time all the reason and truth was offered, it was too late...the deal (a public sale orchestrated by the seller to lock him in so he couldn't back out) was done.

Patently false. The *only* reason the sale was made public was because Hulk44 requested it. He wanted a public record of the sale so there was a "witness" to the terms.

Ride your high horse all you want, Felix. Just try to get your facts straight.

  9. The CCA variants for issue 7 just arrived! Also - the new sketch blanks (originally scheduled for issue 6). The new blanks are fantastic, and well worth the wait. Will be sending the sketch opp books off to Mehdi this week so we can finally get this party started! :headbang:

That includes the blanks that were not part of the sketch opportunity for Medhi right?

Yes - red blanks are also in and will ship this week. :)

  10. Bought an 8.0 Wright Tec 28 in Feb 2012 for $44,812.50 - sold the same book in May 2012 as an 8.5 @ $38,837.50...for a net loss of roughly $15k.

44.8k - 38.8k does NOT equal to a loss of 15k you lovable math genius you :foryou:

38.8k is a bid of $32,500...which, less 10% seller's commission, is $29,250...a loss of just over $15k (and without taking into account costs related to press/resub). ;)

Depends on what kind of deal the seller worked out with HA. My guess is that he did not pay a seller's premium and may possibly have gotten a slice of the buyer's premium. At the very worst, the seller's premium on a relist is only 5%, iirc.

Ah, right - forgot about that.

  11. Well, there's a 7.5 (Billy Wright) that sold on HA awhile back.

Also curious about the Billy Wright 7.0 that sold on HA the same year (since only one 7.0 is currently on the census, and we know Bunky has a 7.0). Maybe the 7.0 was re-subbed and got a bump to 7.5?

    Court,

I thought that Bunky's was a 7.5. Anyways, didn't G.A.tor use to own a Tec 29 7.5 at some time or another? Paging Rick....

    I believe 7.0

Thanks Peter. I couldn't remember if it was a 7 or 7.5. It might even be the same one Bunky has now.

Definitely 7.0. There are pics earlier in this thread. The book is an absolute stunner (looks much nicer than a 7.0 from the FC, but is missing a small chunk on the bc per Gator's inside info.

  13. Actually - looks like the Tec 29 7.0 and 7.5 Wright copies on HA are the same book. So...one lucky buyer bought the 7.0 for $83,650 in Feb 2012 - then that buyer pressed/resubbed the book to a 7.5, which he then sold for $65,725 in Nov 2012. This would explain the lack of a second 7.0 on the census.

All in all, the seller lost over $33k in less than 8 months. That's a bitter pill to swallow!

Even better: Looks like the same buyer played the same game with Tec 28 from the same Feb 2012 auction, with similar results:
