  1. I enjoyed the first arc. Thought it was solid, but not groundbreaking. Just a fun read.
  2. Commented in another thread. Scam-o-rama. OK, thanks - glad to hear I'm not losing my mind.
  3. Am I missing something HERE..? This seems ridiculously low to me.
  4. Nick Spencer is officially on my list of "creators I will not support under any circumstances". The list is short, but distinguished.
  5. in Voldemort World It's signed - a book with a missing page that goes into a SS label slab will get a 0.5 grade from CGC as well. QFT. Call it a "manufacturing error" if you like, but the book is incomplete. That's the bottom line. I'm sure the person who slabbed the book had no idea, and now they are trying to spin it as some sort of rare "variant". What a joke. I love this line from the item description: "It is not common that a Key book has an error." Uhh...what? You mean that they normally only make errors on non-key books...?
  6. Sometimes the best acquisitions are the pieces that you aren't looking for that just suddenly fall into your lap. This is one such piece. I didn't even know this cover existed prior to seeing it in print for the first time this past weekend when a fan brought the books to the table for Mico to sign. Now it's my choice for Mico's best work to day, and I look forward to getting it framed and hanging it in my office. Star Wars triptych by Mico Suayan

  8. Nothing says "rare" like a photo of 20 books on the floor. Nothing says, "I can wait for prices to drop" like a photo of 20 books on the floor. insufficiently_thoughtful_person.
  9. IMO, it should be the quality of the book that lures new readers. That should be enough. If the book is quality, word will spread and the fan base will grow. If the book is not quality, then gimmicks with the issue number won't save it. I guess the hope is that a new #1 on the cover will speed up the process of growing the readership. I think it's more likely that any spike as a result of a new #1 will be artificial and temporary, and at the risk of potentially alienating the fans that have already supported the book thus far.
  10. For quite possibly the first time ever....I totally agree with Larry!
  11. You too, Court. I can't say enough good things about that Red Crow cover. Just gorgeous! Thanks Joe! Now I just need to get off my butt and sell my Southern Bastards cover to pay for it.
  12. Great minds think alike! I was just about to post mine, but thought I'd add them to the Scalped thread as I doubt many Scalped fans are even aware of these painted covers yet! Congrats on the fantastic pick-ups!
  13. Midtown also has it listed as a mini (of 6). I guess we are looking at a series of 6 issue "seasons" now.
  14. Hard to tell from the pics, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's PLOD.
  15. I heard from the janitor at the local high school that AF 15 was the only non-EC to be stockpiled by Gaines. Apparently there is one full storage unit of newsstand fresh copies. Best estimate is that the storage unit is of the 10' x 10' variety, though it may also be 10' x 14'
  16. The $12.5k sale did not happen (thrill bidder)
  17. First of all... I asked in the sales thread about the label (I think someone else did too) and, honestly, Court's reply was a little vague to me. Something about the QA process at CGC - so I can see how someone may have been confused by it! Second, I've seen items I've mailed listed as 'picked up' the day after I dropped them off at the post office. This happens when you print a label at home, and then they scan it in a sorting facility. So... it doesn't necessarily mean he mailed it Saturday. Actually, he shipped me a book on Friday, so that makes it even more likely it could have been a situation like this. By the way... sorry you feel called out like this, I was surprised when I saw your name next to the listing, I always thought of you as a guy that mostly holds on to the books he buys, so don't feel discouraged, I doubt anyone meant anything much by it. (thumbs u The book was shipped Friday, but everything USPS around here has been delayed due to bad weather, so I'm not surprised that the label wasn't scanned until Saturday. I've had books that were delivered before tracking even entered the system, so nothing about USPS surprises me! Yeah, I was just joking. It's your book - you are certainly free to do whatever you like with it! I have no problem whatsoever for you looking to sell. I hope you make money on it. And, hey - if it makes you feel better, I'm sure Jon will slap me next time regardless. He doesn't seem to need a "good reason" for it. Ha.
  18. He didn't even wait to receive the book prior to going for the quick flip!
  19. Damn...$600?!? Looks like I was giving them away!
