  1. Awesome book! 8.5 on both in my eyes, just mainly because of the spine ticks. Grade and also grade #2. I feel like I have seen number 1 and other early issues (not often, but they pop up) but issue 2 is one I don't think I have ever laid eyes on. Nice!
  2. No back cover pic? Seems 9.0+ but need a back cover pic to really hone in on a grade.
  3. Without the cut, I think you were looking at something in the 6.0-6.5 range. With the cut, I would have to be closer to 4.5-5.0. I think 4.0 is too low on this book but I think 5.0 would be about as generous as one could hope for.
  4. Def appears to be the treasury. There are enough random dumbos out there that would see this and think it is legit. There are also enough who think they can scam someone. Don't buy for more than $20. I would tell the seller and if it is someone with an ebay account or who sells comics in general, they should be known so others (experienced folks or amateur collectors) don't give him the satisfaction of a fraudulent sale. Oh and as mentioned....dead giveaway is the size (treasury is much larger than the golden age original) and the No. I versus No 1. I always said, no one wants a period in their first issue. No one.
  5. I am a tad harsher...5.5-6.0 from me. I have seen Fine plus books with not as much edge wear as yours which makes me think it would be a tad lower.
  6. Press and clean for sure...don't be surprised if you get a 5.0. Here is a comparible in the sense of fading. I think Fine or better would be very hard to get with that much fading http://hulkcgcmarvel.com/2019/02/the-incredible-hulk-181-cgc-graded-5-0-owithw-pages-complete-1st-wolverine-xmen/ As is, I will safely say 4.5 all day long.
  7. To me it seems more likely that a lot were printed without than a kids snatching them outta the comics but...ya never know I guess.
  8. The whole thing with ASM #238 is weird. I have heard a lot of people say they bought copies of this book new, have them and their copies never came with Tatooz. I honestly think that the bubble on the cover ruins this for a lot of people because they are expecting to get Tatooz inside and it says they should be there. Yet for whatever reason during printing, there were a lot that never got that insert. And now, the book gets hit harder when it is missing. I mean, I am part of the snobby group that would want the Tats. Thankfully I do but I also don't know if I would invest heavily in a copy without....if it was just for me, sure but to resell might be an adventure, especially if you are getting mixed labels involved. Harder to find the guy who has to have a signed book but also doesn't mind it being "incomplete" as deemed by the masses and CGC.
  9. Books like this are a prime example why I flip through every book in collections when I buy them. That may seem crazy but if you wanna find double covers, MJ inserts and oddities like this it is what ya gotta do!
  10. Yeah that stain is tough. Without it, I think you have a 4.5 range copy. The spine and edge wear put it there. With the stain, I think 3.0 is most likely. I don't think it is bad enough to let a 2.5 or worse so 3.0 is where I am at.
  11. I think 7.0 is most likely. I don't think there is enough wear to warrant lower but there is enough wear to prevent it from getting much higher of a grade.
  12. I'm gonna guess it goes for around $100. Much more and I will be very surprised. Much less and well, I think someone will have gotten a nice deal on an oddity.
  13. 7.0-7.5 for the book overall, spine wear and some edge wear. Pictures aren't the best though... As for page quality, looks white to off-white at worst.
  14. It’s already mine and has been for about five years. I also put it around 6.5 with the rust but was curious if that was too harsh or not harsh enough. I might look for another copy but since it present nice and doesn’t appear to have migrated at all since purchasing I will keep for now. Thanks also @FoggyNelson for your grade:)
  15. I bought one grab bag in my life and actually won ASM 252 about 10-12 years ago. As for this lot, when the first image of the video shows 90s Turok, I just chuckle and wish the “winner” of this auction good luck.
  16. Not a key but one in the PC I am looking to put a grade on. I know where I’d put it but the rust on the bottom staple has me wondering how hard fellow collectors would dock it. Also is this a book I should look to replace? I don’t want it to spread. My books are kept in good temperate conditions and thus has been for the last 5 years. This book has looked this way since I acquired it. Thanks all!
  17. I would say that’s quality. To me quality is the books themselves regardless of condition. I mean condition does come into play but I’m pretty sure majority of collectors would drool over and desire what ya have even though they are rough. But not too much drool...don’t wanna knock them from 1.8 down to 1.5
  18. To me, that is "quality quantity". Whilst someone may not love every single issue in those runs, their existence of being together is a desirable thing. Now if you replaced Tales of Suspense and Captain America with "Valley of the Dinosaurs" and "Fraggle Rock" well....it would be up for debate.
  19. Hahah right? That is like a worst case scenario with overspray. Actually, I think I have seen a few with entire back covers painted blue. At any rate, that book without that much spray is probably a VF contender. Minor amounts though have had less effect. As mentioned in the thread 9.0+ books have been recorded with small amounts of spray.
