  1. Is Overstreet even relevant anymore? How does it survive? Don't get me wrong, I love physical copies of things but in today's ever changing market, it is hard to pin down prices. I can see it for benchmarks but even that seems harsh. It used to be great to reference for the info it had on first appearances and such but I find there are better resources at my fingertips that are much more accurate. Takes time but then again, so does flipping through the giant guide. I almost think they should publish 5 books (one for Gold, one for Silver, one for Bronze, one for Copper and one for whatever era we are in) and have experts devoted to each book. That way, collectors could buy the guides that most apply to them. I would likely go for the first three. Would have more space for expert analysis, sales trends and info on each book. My two cents
  2. Corners are worn and spine has ticks. I am thinking 7.5 personally.
  3. I think that large crease prevents from hitting 5.0 (and some of the other colour breaking creases too). A press will guarantee 4.5 I feel and at least make it a tad more presentable.
  4. Yeah I assume the trimming question is because of the top edge? Seems more likely to be production related. 3.0-3.5 from me on a grade.
  5. At worst, 2.5 but I think 3.0 makes more sense. Nice presenting copy, I usually avoid stained books but this one would be one I would be happy to have!
  6. Its the treasury sized reprint right? Missing the silver border cover?
  7. You aren’t wrong lol. The guy I bought the collection from said he purchased all his comics from a local store that was notorious for writing on the covers as sbown, stamping books and apparently date stamping incorrectly lol. There are lots of books in this collection with stamps placed like this...I will have to see if their dates are off too.
  8. I had a copy of Young Avengers 1 blow off a stack I was carrying...and it fell into a mud puddle. "Why didn't you have it bagged and boarded? Why didn't you carry it more carefully?" You don't think I ask myself that from time to time?
  9. I would also say around 6.5 mainly because of that tear on the back. If it is just a wrinkle, you are closer to 7.0-7.5
  10. I am also around 7.5-8.0 with the spine roll and staple wear. A press might get an 8.5 but I dont think it could go much higher personally.
  11. I will say 5.0-5.5, assuming the back is not destroyed
  12. I must say, initially I was extremely harsh on this. I thought for sure the marker would really kill this book and had thought 5.0 would be generous. However, the consensus seems to think Fine would definitely be achievable if not higher. Either way, I am elated to have found it. It was a book I had thought I would have to settle for the Marvel Tales reprint just to complete my run from 100-400. I doubt I will get it slabbed but ya never know. I read it the other day and it was great, love this stretch of ASM from 119-150 or so I find my favourite in terms of stories and covers. Thanks all for the input here!
  13. I associate Jim Lee with 90s art that never really does much for me. Put his stuff next to everything from that era on and it isn’t that distinguishable. I like art that stands out for reasons like detail, variety of shots, background detail and the ability to tell a story beyond the text. Maybe I’m wrong but Lees artwork just doesn’t do that for me. He can draw a decent cover but beyond that Im not a fan.
  14. You know what I agree. I’ve been buying and selling to the US for years. Anytime I try to buy something key within country it is almost always more expensive. I try to say that I can get it cheaper and shipped to my door for less than what they are asking and I still get turned down. So I hear ya. As a seller occasionally, I try to base it off what they usually go for. And if I am too high, please, make me an offer. Most of the time I will make it happen (unless you are like the guy who recently offered me $60 for Hulk 180...in which case I just say Sorry I can’t sell that low and move on. He was Canadian) Basically I just want people stateside to continue to sell to me during these times because I need comics!!
  15. Is there a way to remove grease pencil/marker without removing colour? I’ve seen people remove but it takes colour and in all honesty that looks worse IMO
  16. Hmm interesting. I would think there are 6.0-6.5 copies that look nicer but are maybe structurally worse....
  17. This one is a keeper from a recent collection I purchased. Looks really nice except for the marker “12” on the cover. Local shop back in the day had a habit of doing this. If you were lucky they’d put the store stamp but it was huge and they usually stamped the middle of the book. If you were kinda lucky you’d get one like this, marker price in the corner. Most though would have multiple stamps and marker right in the middle...ugh. Locally when we see such books one sighs and says “oh bleeping Bookland” Anyways, I know where I put it but wondering where the majority thinks it falls. Thanks everyone!
