  1. I dunno, the dings on the bottom left corner, along what appears to be discolouration to the bottom staple and some apparent tanning (would need to see back to confirm) lead me to believe 6.5 is exactly the correct grade here.
  2. I will go slightly lower. Pages inside appear very slightly tanned. Long as that spine is still good and not split anywhere, I will say 6.5.
  3. What an interesting poster! Does it say on the poster 1943? I know the Hakes auction link states this but how does one know unless it says it somewhere. Brief research shows that Columbia ran serials of both Batman and The Phantom in 1943. From what I can see, neither character met in each other's serials. Was this an error poster, with the wrong image on it? Not sure but if it is that old, it is definitely cool. Hopefully someone else sheds more light on this.
  4. 9.4-9.6 with slight wear to the top and bottom of spine. Also not sure what’s near the top staple. Looks like a small scrape in the price box
  5. Corners don't look as sharp as they should to make it a 9.8. I think 8.5 is too low, 9.8 too high. I am settling in the 9.2-9.4 range. Hope for better, obviously though!
  6. I am leaning towards a 3.0. Possibly a 3.5 but the spine and edges are really rough. Plus I am imagining some staining or something on the back cover somewhere, so 3.0
  7. ^I agree with that. Getting Tobey Maguire or to sign a random (or even key) issue of Amazing Spider-Man is silly and has zero interest to me. However, I do think it would be cool if Harrison Ford signed an Indiana Jones comic or Mark Hamill a Star Wars comic because those characters were drawn similarly to their likeness.
  8. Hey that's great, not knocking a completist! Just can't be done with CGC is all in terms of promo/polybagged stuff that came with comics is all. You can still get the book graded and display the goodies in your own way though.
  9. I live in Canada. I can ship 2 comics, in cardboard and inside a paper envelope for $6 to the US. Or I can ship in a box and it costs $18. I always offer this to the buyer. No one picks it because its expensive. I do make it mandatory if the book I am selling exceeds $75 though. Anything less, and I will take a loss if the buyer is unhappy. Been selling 12+ years, only negative has been one lost parcel. No one has ever been upset that I dont use a box. Granted, there are people who dont pack securely. That is a different issue though.
  10. If the same guy has another up for sale, then I lean towards the notion he knows what he is doing. I did not know that when I posted. Share a link, and I will happily report because I agree that it begins to sound like he is definitely trying to play the dumb card to take advantage of someone.
  11. It is the Hulk and Wolverine 1 reprint from the 80's with a repro cover on it. If the guy writes that he doesn't know, I would believe him. He says he does not know. Anyone with an ounce of knowledge on Hulk #181 would steer clear after seeing the pics and reading the description. Anyone thinking they scored, well they will be disappointed yes but that is partially their fault. The guy claims what he sees (repro cover, maybe a Hulk 181) and while it may all be on purpose, I don't feel bad for someone who did not do research before spending up on such a book. Would be like me buying a 1956 Corvette from a guy who thinks its a '56. He is not sure, the front end seems right but he is not 100%. The engine he posts pics of and, from someone who is a car guy, they know that engine did not come in a '56 vette. My fault if I overpay as buyer without consulting when the owner claimed he was unsure too.
  12. Comics that come with something attached to the inside (like tatooz in ASM #238 or a trading card in the centrefold or a 3-D mask somewhere inside) can be graded. These items (for the most part) were always attached to the comic. So that is why CGC does not touch them. As for stuff that was bagged and came with a bunch of stuff (Shadow of the Bat #1 comes to mind as it was bagged with a diarama, poster, Arkham Blueprints), CGC will not put that stuff in the holder or grade the bagged comic. They won't toss the stuff in the holder because the stuff could ruin the comic (and just looks cluttered). Imagine stuffing all of this into a holder. Madness! CGC does not grade posters, blueprints and random stuff. Where does one put this stuff in the slab? Behind the comic in a pile? That would look weird. Inside the comic out of sight? Ok then what is the point of having it to begin with? Plus, even if it was just something like a trading card, it can slide all around and won't be secure like the comic. CGC also will not grade the bagged comic because....how could they? If it is in a bag, they cannot confirm pages, see all the corners or even the entire comic. So they would be guessing. One may think every comic bagged is a 9.8 and that is a poor thought to have. Bagged comics get dinged, scraped and scuffed too. Especially is there is a pile of stuff stuffed into the bag. I understand someone wanting X-Force #1 with the Deadpool card (not really though, as I hate X-Force) to have the card visible to display. My suggestion is to get the comic graded and keep the card. Then buy a nice fancy plastic card holder for the card and display them side by side. At the end of the day, CGC grades comics in their comic holders. Not posters, masks, tatooz, foldable toys, a stapled on bag of sea monkeys or anything else that may have come with a comic. It's fine to believe getting a comic like that means its incomplete. Tis why I have a copy or Shadow of the Bat with all the goodies in my own bag. Its not a book I would ever get graded (literally trillions out there) and I cannot think of a comic that has more value with any of the random stuff that comics come with aside from ASM #238 which, again because it is attached to the comic, they will mention it and focus on grading the comic only. Again, the comic and story are not incomplete if those are missing and that is why CGC doesn't care about polybag swag.
  13. Thanks! Will be the second time in ten years I have scored a key of that level due to a poorly listed ebay listing. About 6-7 years ago, I got a lot of Batman comics. I believe the listing said "Old Batman Books" and was not put under comics. They were pretty ratty overall, lot of 2.0-3.0 stuff but issues #251 was there and from the pic, appeared to be the nicest of the bunch (rest were other issues from early to late 70's). Paid $30 total for about 40 comics.
  14. No, like I said before I got tracking confirmation it is waiting for me. Unless he did not send it in the lot for some reason, I don't see why I should be worried. If he did, total cost was $10 shipped so I will just reach out and try to resolve it. Hopefully I will have photos to share by tomorrow as I plan on stopping to pick it up by then
  15. Yes I got it. It came in yesterday. I just have to pick it up. I won another auction off him for $6 containing a Batman #237 and it arrived along with some other beaters.
  16. I have done both. I have sniped, an other times I enter an amount and forget about it. The stuff I do that for, I am happy if I win, and if I lose, I dont mind.
  17. Here is a link to an auction I won the other day... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Hero-Lot-7-Variety-10-editions-1972-1980/183753443435?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Take a look at what I see pictured there, albeit unclear and unable to attach a grade to. But for a $1.00, I will happily own Hulk #180. My estimate is it will be 3.0-4.0. Back cover corner is all folded up. Needs a good press.
  18. I will also safely say 5.0. Maybe a 5.5. If it gets a Fine or better, you are laughing.
  19. I think 6.5-7.0 is safe bet. Press could make it 7.5. Anything higher than that is a gift.
  20. I am shooting 1.8-2.0. Closer to the 2.0 if the spine is hanging on.
  21. 1.0 If it's beat but complete, I would be happy to own it. Great cover and you can see enough of what matters to still make it cool.
  22. Welcome! The Tales of the Unexpected issues I would say is a 4.5. Top edge wear, spine wear and corner crease hurt it. X-Men #68 I will say 3.0. Rough spine, rough edges. Looks to be some staining to top left corner. FF Annual #6. Hard to tell what that spine is doing at the bottom. Looks decent. Possibly 4.5-5.0 if that square spine is not split Iron Man #3 has some spine wear and edge wear also. Likely the best of the bunch, 5.0-5.5 All things said, pics of the backs would help too. If the back covers are rough, it could hurt these estimates. As for whether or not to get them graded, depends on the purpose. If you are looking to sell, I wouldnt waste time with the first two comics. The second two have more value. If you want them for yourself to be protected, go for it. Hope this helps
  23. I will say the spine takes it down to a 6.5. Outside chance at a 7.0.
