  1. I’m tempted to clean and send in. In comparing with other 6.0-7.0 I see slabbed this one appears as nice or better. I had aspirations of 7.5 with a slim shot at 8.0. But as always I appreciate some of the feedback because conservative me would say 6.5-7.0
  2. I’m also around 9.2. Some top edge wear or rubbing it seems, couple spine ticks. That’s where I’m at. A 9.4 would be generous, a 9.6/9.8 is wrong. A 9.0 is a tad harsh and 8.0/8.5 are really mean.
  3. I’m only on page 2 and I don’t know either of you but i don’t see a case here against Roger….
  4. Weird dirt pattern or outline. Should have mentioned that. No stains anywhere on the book
  5. Hi all, Wondering about this one. Some light top edge and corner wear. Spine ticks as seen and some dirt (which I think will clean off nicely) on the back along spine. Thanks!
  6. Your work here is done. EDIT: Actually, bonus assignment. The 3rd comic is............?????
  7. To me it seems odd the book would get 9.8 in the first place....is it noticeable? Pictures would be neat to see. As for the grading note, at least you got one. Most people never know why their books aren't higher because on 9.6 and higher they never say why it landed where it did....
  8. Yeah I think the idea is the old fashioned egg beater at the bottom acts as a handle to lift up the lid...although, personally if I were a criminal breaking into a home, I would likely get hungry. And I love breakfast foods so an omellette would be quick and easy. And if I saw that thing I would definitely want to use it. So I think I would find the comics...just sayin'
  9. Another 1.0-1.5 here due to the back being detached. Definitely nothing a press can improve and I would not spend the dough on doing so.
  10. Def a press worthy book. I want lol! 3.0 as is...potential 4.0-4.5
  11. Yeah 7.0 ish seems right. Stains and such on "modern" books get hammered. What could be a 9.0 or so could lose 2 grade points.
  12. From an article that, for some reason, I randomly clicked on. It was about hiding places people will never look. The real question is who can identify the comic UNDER the Action 1 reprint.....I know I just sent some of you down a rabbit hole. You're welcome!
  13. Would be cool see a double cover with a newsstand cover and a direct edition cover....surely that happened unless both would have never been printed from the same place at the same time.
  14. I keep seeing people running Facebook/Instagram/Youtube auctions and pricing books as though it was 2021...and their books are not selling. A year ago sure, that cool 90s cover that became a "key" for a period of time could have landed you $20-30 but now, people are only wanting to spend maybe $5-10 on such a book. The drop is less for silver/bronze age books but even there, I feel like a return to more realistic values is occurring for many of the "first appearance" keys and such.
  15. I mean...if I am looking at two comics that are the same grade, let's say 4.5 for each. Personally, I want the 4.5 that is all attached and does not contain certain defects like stains. So maybe one 4.5 has more cover wear and the other is sharper but has some light staining. I will put my money towards the 4.5 with a bit more wear and would pay slightly more for the copy I prefer. So I guess in a roundabout way, yes, grader's notes could affect the grade if you have a collector like myself who tries to avoid certain flaws. Otherwise, it comes down to appearance. The 4.5 that looks better should sell for more...and that can be determined by simply seeing the book and page quality, the grader's notes likely factor in little here. There is also the potential for grader's notes to help increase the value, especially if the flaws noted are all "bends and indentations". Someone might see that and get aspirations of pressing a 4.5 book into the 5.5-6.0 range, so they might spend a little more if they know the flaws from the grader's notes and feel that they can obtain a grade bump after pressing and cleaning that book.
  16. White pages though on the inside I bet. Although to confirm, you would probably have at least a 1-2 inch spine split.
  17. Does CGC notate detached at top/bottom staple if it is only one spot? Or do they just state detached even if it is still partially attached? Just asking as maybe detached is their go to wording regardless of whether it is full or partial detachment. Or maybe they messed up...or maybe it got popped during shipping. Or maybe it was popped and you missed? I know I have looked at a book before and the staples were there but when lifted the page they were not holding anything...despite looking clearly attached (plus the page was wedged in well and gave the illusion it was in place.
  18. 2.5-3.0 from me. But like a great presenting copy in that range for sure!
  19. If the seller offers returns, you have no right leaving negative feedback for an issue that is not on a seller. Should they have noticed this? Sure but again, it is an issue that sometimes you don't see in the perfect light. The book inside is not affected and if I were a seller in such an instance, I would offer a $30 refund tops (to cover the cost of the buyer wanting to reslab it in hopes of not getting rings on a new case). That, or tell them to send it back. That should be a more than acceptable option and should make a buyer happy. If it does not, I would not want to deal with such buyers.
  20. Wake me up before you go go Liefields art in the 90s had me saying no no
  21. Spine seems rough but overall not a bad copy. 5.0-5.5 from me.
