  1. I think to understand this Moon Knight, you would need to have read Moon Knight in the last 20 years. There is very little outside of names and general concept that ties in to the original MK and his 1980's run. I watched episode 1. I liked it. Time has prevented me from watching more and I consider myself a big MK fan (having majority of his earlier appearances in comics across any and all titles before his 80s run). I want to watch the rest but I am more of a comic fan than movie/show fan to begin with so my free time is preferably spent reading, grading and enjoying physical comics is all.
  2. No they bump first....then grab more money....then run away
  3. Indonesian copies of comics....I am sure the foreign collectors out there would be interested to see what can be found.
  4. Not sure I ever realized the Namor/Roman thing....neat As for the Mary Marvel book...does that book have value? Maybe the person pricing one at $2300 is the issue? You can ask for anything you want on the Bay. Check sold listings for a better tale. A low grade (probably 2.0) raw sold recently for around $600. That tells me a graded 3.0 for $2300 is a stretch. Also probably means that a PGX 7.0 is lower than where it should be but likely that is because of the factors mentioned (about how they might have missed potential restoration). That and the fact that a lot of their 7.0's are really 5.0-6.0 CGC books.
  5. CGC always increases the charges if you do not submit properly. For example, if you try to submit an expensive high grade book in a lower tier and it gets the high grade, you can be charged the proper tier level. It is the risk you run submitting books like this.
  6. If she appears, sure that issue will get a bump at some point. Maybe it is a $10-20 bump, maybe it is a $50-100 bump. Regardless of what kind of bump it gets, it is NOT a book I would speculate or try to find with hopes of selling at the perfect time. Unless you are experienced in doing so, being able to time it so you sell a book at that perfect moment when the value peaks (traditionally when a trailer drops is the largest bump, if one is to be had, followed by the weekend of the film). The market is also getting smarter, so while most recently with the new Thor trailer you saw some record sales of that issue with Jane Foster as Thor on the cover. However the window for those high sales seemed smaller than ever because almost immediately, the market was flooded as people raced to list theirs and now I would argue, the peak for that book is past. Could it jump to new heights again at the time of the film? Maybe but I think those who REALLY wanted it because they love the character probably already have it. That leaves the "I am going to buy this to sell for more" crowd left out there and well, if that is the only market, there will be no market for a book like this. Or at least a very small market. And again, it is also possible that this movie is amazing and new waves of fans fall in love and desire the book so it may have staying power....BUT I always harken back to the character in comics. Are they loved? Do they have a large following? Call me not in touch with the market but I don't think the Jane Foster as Thor fans are a large group and THAT would make me wary of wanting to try to speculate long term (or at all) on this book in particular.
  7. ^ Agree...the spine tick(s), small bends, colour rub, etc you see with your eyes are often why the book landed where it did. And if you see none of those things, well you could be inexperienced at finding flaws OR perhaps the flaw is inside the book. Remember books have flaws all throughout them that could get graded. There could be a fingerprint or some smudge on an interior page (which would be cool to know in notes) but again that is a majorish flaw and I think CGC just assumes you know your books. Reality though, we only know the front and back cover (in terms of where the flaws are)
  8. No book is perfect. Perfection is an illusion. My 9.4 is beautiful. That spine tick on her backside...that's the sign of experience and I like a book who knows how be read. Now pour me another...a man gets thirsty 'round here.
  9. Imagine they HAD to enter notes for EVERY book? Imagine the turnaround times then?!?!?! 3 years at least Is it a little frustrating? Sure but we as a community are the ones who put SO much value in 9.8 over 9.6. Reality is if you took 100 9.6 and resubmitted them, guaranteed a chunk come back as 9.8. Similarly, the 9.8s if someone resent in 100, guaranteed some would come back 9.6. I just tell myself none of my books are 9.8. At best, 9.4-9.6. That mentality has served me well, in addition to being harsh and I guess not really caring about getting a specific grade. Again, its best to send in hoping for a range....like if this books get 5.0-6.5 it's all good. Over time you get to know how certain eras and even certain books are treated (in addition to following others opening and sharing books, its is a great way to learn).
  10. Signed raws can be a tougher sell. Depends on the artist though. If it is a "classic" artist, yeah those will still sell as certain signatures can be pretty easily identified and lots of people desire those. Would still be cheaper than a signature series book signed by the same artist (unless its a super rare signature like Frazetta or Cole). With modern artists, I would think the ones you listed MIGHT bump up the value $5-10 tops, depending on the book signed. But certainly not much more than that if I had to assign a number to it. I mean, if reselling, start higher. If you feel the signature adds $50-100 to a book, try to sell for that. If you don't get interest, well that tells you that you are priced high OR that it is not that desirable. Or both....and with regards to price you can just lower until you do get interest.
  11. 7.0-7.5 as is. A clean on the back could push it to 8.0
  12. Hi Andy, I would visit the sales forum on here. Here is a link. To my knowledge, 99.9% of people selling here are reputable. And you an scroll through pages of stuff for sales from each person posting. You can also post what you are searching for in the other forum I have linked, which is helpful. As for Instagram, I know that community is strong but because I find it so massive sometimes (and a not quite my scene either), I cannot recommend there but I am sure some here can. https://boards.cgccomics.com/forum/63-comics-market-forum-only-selling-area/ https://boards.cgccomics.com/forum/50-comics-market-want-to-buy/
  13. I think 9.2-9.4 is high...personally. I had a 9.6 newsie of this book graded last year and that thing was spotless...This, as is, 8.5-9.0 from me. If the back can be cleaned up, might get you 9.0-9.2
  14. Hopefully you find some gems and do well. From what I have seen you mention so far though, I worry you might have bought a lot of stuff that is hard to move. Am I right in saying most of it is 80s-90s stuff? It all boils down to what you paid and the time you put in. It could work out nicely, it could be a big headache. Either way, will be a learning experience with comics which, from where I sit, is always a fun experience.
  15. I love the Aurora models. I don't have any in box but I do have a nicely painted Phantom (complete as far as I can tell). I also have a Hunchback which I think is complete. Oh and a guy I bought a Vampirella collection from threw in his Vampirella. She is painted but missing her bat that goes on her wrist (anyone have one lol?)
  16. I would say do as some suggested here...tell them that the other bidder bid up the item and that, had they not, you would have won with "x" bid. That is where you feel comfortable. Be polite (even if this seller is a shill biddin' SOB). If they get testy and are like "rawr rawr rawr you bid $630, why can't you now pay that" well then I think you have your answer to what really happened and you can never buy from them again. If they are like, ok I am going to relist well you can watch and hope for the best again or possibly lose out.
  17. I can confirm that those are desired. My brother scored the first one this past year, rougher shape than yours by far, and made out well off of a $1 investment.
  18. Seems a smidge high. To me, the value is in the design on the placard on top. Plus as someone else mentioned, it appears someone painted it at one point.
  19. 5.0 from me with the amount of edge tanning/browning/discolouring and just the overall minor wear. A 4.5 would be a tad harsh, a 5.5 a tad generous IMO.
  20. I think it will get way worse...someone has drawn all over the cover and made notations. . . . . .. . . . . Kidding...8.5-9.0 with the colour loss spot.
