  1. This is true Okay but the notes still mention bends and light creasing...suggesting there are still elements that could be improved. Prominent presser or not, if these books sat for any period of time (aka 6 months or more at CGC in their less than ideal storage ways), it is more than possible bends could reappear or possible be created. And I mean, there are good pressers and then there are great pressers....were the rip and the frayed corner top right there prior to submitting?
  2. Does seem a bit harsh. I can tell you that those bends seen in the one picture below the "S" in Wars are what are killing it. Yes the tiny top rip hurts too but those bends are likely very pronounced outside of the slab. Should they be graded that harshly? Perhaps not but colour breaking creases get hit hard and even these sorts of bends get hit hard. If pressed, it would smoothen out and likely get you the 7.0-7.5 that this book deserves. As for the waviness that is also seen, this is either poor pressing or a result of CGC's new stupid inner wells, which squish the comic in odd ways sometimes, resulting in that effect. My biggest question though is the red in the "S". Looks like crayon to me. If it is a printing defect, CGC graded it harsh or perhaps viewed it as a foreign addition to the comic unrelated to printing. If it is a foreign substance, well I think that played a role in the 6.0 when combined with noticeable bends, spine ticks and tiny edge tear.
  3. Hi all, Looking to sell these three together 169- 5.0 range. Spine creasing is the major issue here, along with some top edge wear 170- 6.0 range. Nice copy with some spine ticks 179- 4.5 range. Just a good amount of wear to corners and on back Asking $450USD shipped for the lot. Open to offers too but any claim trumps any ongoing negotiations. PayPal for payment please. Returns accepted just let me know if you are unhappy within a week of receiving and I will make it right. If you have questions ask away and thanks for looking!
  4. A great question! 121 for me. Yellow cover wins it even though the overall image on 122 is better. And the story? I read this for the first time as a 24 year old about a decade ago and let me just say it was still great. Even knowing what was to come.
  5. As a fan of creators and the idea of having the main ones on a book, I understand the desire to have DeCarlo on there. However, I think you have the big two that people really care about, plus it sounds like the possibility of having it drop to a 9.4 (or heaven forbid worse) would affect your love for the book. So I would not risk it....unless you actually can live with a 9.4 and it would not affect your love for the book.
  6. I also see 8.5 potential, maybe even a tad higher. Spine is very clean, corners clean and no creasing. At CGC these days, for Silver Age, that seems to automatically put you in 8.0-9.0 range. The pictures are not the best overall so it is hard to say as there might be some flaws in hand that bump it down or it might appear cleaner in hand which could see a higher grade.
  7. I also feel more 7.5-8.0ish. Great gloss on it though!
  8. I'm sure the estimate was still appreciated...Domo arigato MrRoboto
  9. For what I’m missing? Im looking for raw and lower grade 2.0-4.0. Except for 75 and 132, I’d like to get a little higher for those. As for the books I own haha they range from low to high. Some graded, some not, all loved 🥰
  10. I am down to only needing 25, 29, 32, 34, 38, 39, 40, 46, 47, 75 and 132 to have from 25-400. This is a stretch I would like to lock down over the next year or so. I have a smattering of issues pre #25 but recognize that goal gets forever harder as time passes.
  11. 8.5 from me. A 9.0 after a press would not shock me.
  12. Stains get hit super hard on modern books. I would be stunned if this got better than 6.5
  13. ASM 129, while not rare, will always be desired. Appeals to Spidey fans, obviously to Punisher fans and is one of the Bronze Age grail books. I would put it in the top 3 for books from that era that are a safe long term bet.
  14. Yeah appears to run the length of the book. In slab these things can be very hard to see. Out though and I’m sure it would be noticeable. And since colour doesn’t appear to break you might have a shot at a press and bump in grade, provided there are no interior flaws
  15. Looks 7.0ish to me You can see the vertical bend running the length of the book. In recent years CGC has hammer book length bends like that, especially when they break colour. Yours doesn’t appear to and so a press likely could improve the grade here. Ultimate Fallout 4 has a common indentation running the length of the book from the poly bag that many copies were sold in. As a result CGC (and even CBCS) graded that book 8.5-9.2 with said crease. And it’s is extremely faint, but in the proper lighting you can definitely see it. Many copies of UF4 with this as the only flaw press out to a 9.6-9.8. So you can be upset that CGC is harsh on such a defect but I know other companies (well at least one) are too.
  16. Looks good but that is a noticeable crease. I have ASM 316 with a similar crease and it got 9.0...so it coulllldddd happen but I would feel safer calling it 8.0-8.5
  17. So I have a 9.0 of this book graded last near (newsstand but not cpv). Mine has a plethora of tiny ticks only visible on the back. Yours looks like it has 1-2 on the front. Visually overall it appears as strong or better than mine so I will say 9.2-9.4.
  18. The second one is simply noted as a variant on Key Collector....I cannot find any examples of the first one, other than this ebay sale which has a barcode (presumably the Ebay one is a newsstand)
  19. Coyote 11 by Epic comics is considered his first published work in a semi-mainstream comic Coyote 13 by Epic comics is considered his first published cover in a semi-mainstream comic He then had a two year run on DC's Infinity Inc. series (not sure of the issue numbers off hand) There was an Alien Invasion (believe it was a2 issue series?) he worked on for DC. He then worked on a couple issues of the Year Two Batman story and also the much loved cover for Batman 423 He then had his first Marvel work on the Hulk title (Hulk 330 I believe) and did a bunch of issues thereafter Then he had his acclaimed work on Spidey. He also drew a Conan cover around this time. Then he founded Image and Spawn That's a brief-ish history with some obvious holes but hopefully gives you an idea where to go for earliest McFarlane stuff
  20. Solid grade. I would have thought the corner crease put it more in the 5.0-5.5 range personally (along with the other flaws) but that's a solid grade.
  21. There are plenty of Youtube channels and apps that try to "predict" or maybe even persuade the market. I would always say, if investing in comics, to buy books that have been desired for a long time. If people wanted the book 20-30 years ago, chances are they still do today and still will in the future. You can play the "game" by trying to predict which cheap books will get expensive but that is a risky game. It also will come down to what you have to spend. Are you in the situation to drop $5000-10000 on a bigger book? Or are you looking to spend a couple hundred in hopes of a slight return in a few years?
  22. You can 100% be both. Unless you are very rich you can’t buy it all. Thankfully there’s a lot I don’t want that others do so if I can get a deal on something to sell for profit towards more books, I do it. So I’m definitely both. I don’t generally go for hot books of the moment though. But if I can get a good deal on a $300-500 book and make a $100+, lll do it.
