  1. I think I've been thru every page and don't recall seeing this but another fav Burt Reynolds movie:
  2. The 2 times that happened to me when I was the seller, it turned out the post office for the buyer opened it up and sent it back under 'media mail is not for comics'
  3. He should've turned that into the Fantastic Four movie rather than the turd he made of it
  4. Loved the first season of the reimagining on HBO
  5. Ha, no I didn't think of asking for a nickname. Maybe in the sequel!
  6. And now for something completely different, and I don't mean Monty Python. A friend of mine, who I've worked with for a dozen years, along with his best friend wrote, produced and starred in a local indie movie they made. They filmed a dinner scene at a local bar in my area. My wife and I got to be background actors. We spent about five and a half hours to film what ended up a seven and a half minute scene. My back was to the camera the entire time as my wife wanted to be facing it. In the end we got in several shots, even in different locations in the bar due to the way they edited it. Plus we got our names in the credits. So I hope one day everyone gets the say this was a movie you should see. Not that they ever planned to release it theatrically, they're hoping a streaming service eventually picks it up. They submitted it to a few foreign film festivals and have picked up a couple awards.
  7. The ending where he intercepts the missile gets me every time.
  8. Chuck Norris will never die of a heart attack - not even a heart would be stupid enough to attack him. And Bruce Lee is no slouch either.
  9. There was a period when the Coen brothers were hot. This was a very good film
  10. Don't think this 80's scifi B classic was mentioned.
  11. Standard answer is collect what you like. Some collectors put priority on page color (they want the best overall quality) while its not as important to others ( it's not like you can open it to look at the page colors) . Whats your criteria for judging books in your collection? Is it value, or sentiment or the cover etc. If its value, price guides like Gpa, goCollect don't factor page color in their numbers. But some people will put a premium on white pages (or newsstand copies) and just wait until someone who values those qualities sees the listing. Is it priced close to what guides/other sales have for a 9.4 or a 9.0? If it were me and the price was closer to what most 9.4 were going for then I would favor that over the 9.0. Of course it also depends on the pricey diff between what you find those 2 grades going for.
  12. My opinion is that is one sweet looking FF 48! Pics get a little blurry when I try to it enlarge on my tablet. I think I see a couple small spine tics by the Watcher's right hand I'll say 9.2-9.4
  13. pretty identical to the one I have on a Demon 1 and I got that verified by Voldy
  14. The Karl Urban Judge Dredd remake ( much better than Stallone's version) was clearly based on this ( a very wise move too)
  15. being 57 myself I hope you're just greatly underestimating the time you have left! My collection is just the books I bought a long time ago. I slabbed what I thought was worth it and the rest I'd rather not burden the rest of the family who have no interest. So I figure I have plenty of time to gradually move the "drek" them along via Ebay and where ever else. I figure that gives me plenty of time and I find it enjoyable moving them to new homes. I figure the majority of the slabs will be last and would be easiest to move whether it's me or even if the kids end up getting stuck with them.
  16. Best of luck to you -and Chase - and anyone else who is fighting cancer. My wife just lost her uncle to a blood cancer due to an accident in the house which caused him to lose too much blood - I imagine he must have been on strong blood thinners. So not only best of luck but be careful while fighting it.
  17. it's buyer beware of the 'Bay. Always check sold listings to see what the issue is getting (depending on condition) Could be they're just hoping to get lucky - though just because they ask for X doesn't mean they'd settle only for X. If they accept offers just offer them what you're comfortable with (assuming you're happy with the shipping options/pictures etc) and if they don't then it doesn't hurt to send them a msg asking if they'd be willing to consider an offer.
  18. yeah, 10-12 is about as big as I like to go. I alternate them front to back, wrap them all in a plastic sheet (basic cheapo 2 mil you can get at Home Depot/Lowes) and tape it shut with paint tape. Then I tape that to one of the pieces of cardboard. Put on the top piece of cardboard and tape those two together. Sometimes I'll stuff paper/etc around the edges of the 2 cardboard pieces (ie take up the empty space from the inch or so overhang formed by the 2 cardboard pieces)for extra protection
  19. This is from the American Library Association (you can also search the forums here as well): Store comic books in a clean storage area where temperature and relative humidity (RH) are moderate and stable: 68°F or less, and between 30 and 40% RH. Moisture and temperature speed decay. Low humidity can crack, peel, or curl pages. Avoid attics and basements and provide good air circulation. An air-conditioned room or closet is best.
  20. I usually make bricks out of ~10-12 comics and just find a box big enough to hold multiple bricks
