You should also educate yourself on the Press/Clean process. Don't rush into anything . CGC isn't going anywhere so take your time and make sure you understand all that's involved.

back cover spine seems to have some discoloration and the bottom back cover edge had a few marks along it. As is, I'd say a 9.2. Hopefully that back cover could get cleaned up a bit to give you a chance

there was a decently long thread here not that long ago on this subject. If ur worried about the comics not standing upright you could try filling the empty spaces with towels/rags or bubble wrap. You didn't mention if they're in bags/boards. Since u have plenty of room, why r u keeping some stacked on top of each other? Are they all aligned on the spine side or did u alternate each other one? Take a look at the ones on the bottom and see if they look ok still.

Another way to look at it would be to value it for its replacement value. Ie if something happens to it while CGC has it or while in transit back to you then what would it cost you to go out and bug a comparable issue. You can declare any value you want. CGC can always charge you more if they deem to though im not sure that happens often

By "light fixing" did u mean "light foxing,"? Just from the notes posted, it doesn't sound like a press would help.

Plenty of threads concerning that question. Search around and you'll have plenty to read. You can declare whatever you want. Consider it an insurance value should something happen to it while CGC possess it and you want to pick up a replacement. It determines your submission level and turnaround time. It also drives your return shipping costs if you use USPS. Its expected value can be tricky, depending on your grading skills and if there's any restoration that your unaware of. If you bought it off the shelf yourself then the latter isn't an issue.

I held onto about 1500 comics from 30-40 yrs ago when I collected. Out of all that, I only had 1 signature, Jack Kirby, which I found on page 1 of Demon 1. Given that I bought it around 1980 I figured the chances of it being legit were pretty good. So that was the only book I sent to Voldy for the verified sig program

It actually seems more appropriate to have it here. as exciting it is to send off that first batch if it's even more exciting when they finally get back to you. One thing I learned, the hard way, do not rush into submitting until we figure out all the pros and cons. Are you submitting just a single book or a batch? Submitting single books can result in expensive shipping back to you if using the post office.

hmm, books like this can be tough - at least for me 1st impression is a nice looking book, but you've got that spine split up top, plus discoloration over the X-Men logo, and that tanning or dust shadow on the back edge So how much do those defects affect it? The O/S guide first mentions a split at 6.0, then there's that logo issue and back cover tanning - is that just the back cover or is anything extending thru the pages? Due to those 3 defects I'd guess, and I stress guess, at 5.5

I'd say 6.5

Think of FMV as insurance should something happens to it while CGC has possession of it. If also affects shipping charges back to you if you use USPS (insurance while it is bring mailed back to you) You can choose any tier (other than value). CGC can charge you a higher tier value based on results, but I have no idea how often that happens. As deadpoolica said , you can't be sure what grade you'll get back (without prescreening) so you have to balance insurance risk vs time waiting for it vs maximizing value.
