  1. In the 1980s, everyone was absolutely certain that Bronze and Modern (now copper) books would never be worth anything. In the 2000s, everyone was absolutely certain that 90s books would never be worth anything. Etc. So long as comics are published and "things" are collected, they will retain and increase in value.
  2. I am surprised that Dark Knight Returns signed and limited (4000 copies) only goes for $300 or so at this point. Seems to me that that's the big grand daddy of all comic collected editions? I recall it being the first of it's kind, in terms of HC editions...
  3. Great book, great price. I predict this will be gone in 3...2...
  4. IH 181: FIRST WOLVERINE! GSX-Men 1: First appearance of a bunch of characters that are "whatever". But overall, buy what you like, don't buy for investment.
  5. Yeah, it's the same content as the Black Mask version of #1, but with a black and white interior. He brought them to 1 comic con, basically.
  6. I've gotten really into Alexis Ziritt artwork - Space Riders and Night Hunters being his two main books, aside from a plethora of cover art - and came across a copy of the self-published 1st appearance of Space Riders (not the Black Mask version), which has a print run of under 100 copies. I definitely overpayed, but never saw one for sale before.
  7. I never read these when they cam out, but tried a few years back, and IMO they did not hold up all that well. (very little does from pre Dark Knight Returns days...)
  8. That's OK though. There are always top tier collectibles that most cannot afford, but they are still able to enjoy the hobby. 20 years ago it was just a different set of books that were unattainable.
  9. Buying habits are switching to graphic novels, is all. Overall sales are up.
  10. As long as I've been on the boards, there have been threads exactly like this one. Meanwhile, comics are more mainstream than at any time I can remember, and values have gone up exponentially.
  11. Unless it's a key book e.g. Amazing Fantasy 15, nope.
  12. Right in line with current GPA averages.
  13. I thought it was good, not great. I liked Batman Begins (and its sequels) more. Agree with everyone that it needed 30+ minutes cut.
  14. Just wondering if I were to get a signature series from the evil slab company, and have it reholdered by CGC, how they would handle it?
  15. No real input as to the trimming issue, but I have some negative opinions about returns and "not a professional grader." It's good of you to take the return, obviously.
  16. If I had to guess, the selling venue may be part of it. CC is not known for this type of book, so buyers may not be aware of it?
  17. 2nd print 9.6 is $8k, 3rd is $2.5k. There are just 663 CGC copies of the 2nd, while there are 1677 copies of the 3rd. (Over 1k copies of the 1st). So yeah the 2nd print seems to be the toughest printing to get, comparitively.
  18. 1-3 (magazine) and 1-50 (regular) are one of the best comic runs out there.
  19. Not technically black CAT, but I picked up a few Nexus 1 signed and limited editions last week. These were limited to 500 copies, triple signed by Baron, Rude and Gulacy, with an exclusive print included. I haven’t seen one for sale since the 80s, so jumped on them. Not mint condition, but beggars and choosers, etc. If you've never read Nexus, issues 1-50 are truly amazing. After that, YMMV. It's still being published today, making it one of the longest running indy comics.
  20. Time to get the big boy pants on! https://www.pedigreecomics.com/auction?item_type=comic&search=turtles
  21. While we're on the topic, someone should really buy this, a 7.0 for $5k? https://www.comicconnect.com/item/944336
