I'm at work (and we are monitored), but I will try to check in from time to time. Superboy is one of the few runs I'm still trying to complete. -

Comics, Pulps, and Paperbacks: Why such a discrepancy in values?
alecholland replied to Reno McCoy's topic in Pulp Magazines
I was kind of surprised when I found out those Ballantine covers were done by Richard Powers. I like a lot of his sci-fi work, but never cared for his Tarzan covers either. -
Thanks for the link! Yeah, on that one I thought I'd go for a nice Fine copy or so. 79 is the one I will probably have to settle for a 3.0 or so copy. Thank you again for the link, I appreciate it.

Marvel Super Heroes Adventure Gamebook #7 - game card is still attached inside cover VG+ - This book looks unused but does still have some general shelf wear, soft corners, a slight corner bend with some creasing lower right corner, small bend to the upper and lower left corners back cover, oxidation shadow inside front cover where game card is attached (heavier than #6). A nice looking, glossy, unread looking copy. Would probably be closer to Near Fine if not for the corner bend on the front cover.

Marvel Super Heroes Adventure Gamebook #6 - game card is still attached inside cover VG - Has light readers crease on front cover, edge wear front and back covers, a couple light scratches with some color loss on back cover, slight bend to spine, light oxidation shadow inside front cover where game card is attached, some tanning to book pages. A nice looking, glossy copy for the grade.

I understand. Thank you again for the information. Really terrible and disrespectful. -

Isn't this the same cover used on Witch House? Only I think it's reversed.- 706 replies

Geez. Thank you for the information. I wasn't aware these were unauthorized. That's terrible. I wondered what other board members thought about this and I completely agree with the comments. -

I was curious what others here on the boards thought. I knew nothing about them until today but felt pretty much the same way when I saw these. Even though I've been buying vintage paperbacks and pulps for years, I mostly have just bought books I wanted to read. I am pretty much a newbie collector when it comes to the history of the books and pulps and the various cover artists. Thanks to threads like this, I have learned quite a bit very quickly for which I am grateful. I didn't mean to trigger anyone with my post, so I am sorry about that. I just saw these and thought, "I wonder what people on the boards think about this." Now I know and definitely agree with your comments. -

Thor group lot - CLOSED.
alecholland replied to alecholland's topic in Golden/Silver/Bronze Age Only
Found one more that I have doubles of to add to the group. Still $30 shipped for everything in the thread. Thor 260 - 4.5/5.0 - (Whitman) - An accumulation of non-color breaking bends in book. Upper right corner front cover has a non-color breaking dog ear bend and also a couple ripples/bends in the lower left corner. Back cover also has a few non-color breaking bends. Cream pages. -
Mine as well. Eventually (when funds permit) I plan to get 9, 79 & 80 which have been on my want list for a while. Have to sell off some other things first though.

A single morning bump. Lowered price from $35 to $30 shipped. -
A couple new additions. Really excited about both of these. Spent a bit more than I planned on the 50, but I'm happy with it.

Thor 285 - 5.5 - Some surface impressions on Karkas head and a corner bend on the lower right front cover that goes through his foot but does not break color. Back cover is nice, no major problems. OW pages. -

Thor 284 - 5.0 - Mostly due to spots of foxing on the front and back cover. It would be higher grade otherwise. Some red overspray on the top and bottom open edge corners. Cream to OW pages.
