  1. Every time I look at this thread something else gets added to my want list. I just need a money tree or win the lottery and I'll be able to buy everything on my list. Great pulp!
  2. SOLD!! I thought it was a pretty good deal. But I had two copies in nearly identical shape and decided to let one go. Thanks! PM incoming.
  3. Phantom Stranger 14 - 7.5/8.0 - OW to slightly cream pages $80 shipped CONUS Honestly, I feel that this is much closer to 8.0 than 7.5. Please look at the scans. Trying to be conservative and not let my love of this cover influence my grading. Defects are - front cover: slight diagonal bend (lower left), two very small (1/64” or less) chips/tears (middle right side open edge - to the right of Phantom Stranger’s head), spine stress at top staple that slightly breaks color and a few other slight spine tics. Back cover: looks nice, slight creaminess and also a very small chip (1/64” or less, lower left corner open edge). The inside covers also have a similar color (slightly off-white or cream) as the back cover.

Here's the book!
  5. Just finished Space Lords by Cordwainer Smith. I enjoyed the book and he is a very interesting person as well. I'm about 100 pages in on The Humanoids by Jack Williamson.
  6. Bought quite a few Ace Doubles recently. Thought I would share a couple of my favorites.
  7. I work for the government. We're using Vista!
  8. Wait, are you telling me that when I go to a con looking for comics, the people who have set up booths to sell comics will actually try to sell me comics? They might be friendly to me and say things like "are you looking for anything specific?" or "those books are 30% off." That's just crazy!
  9. Yep, me too. Just got the winning bidder notification on a book I won and already paid for 5 days ago. As soon as I receive the book I am going to contact them to close my account. There are a lot of other venues for buying and selling funny books including here on the boards. They have lost my confidence and trust.
  10. Thanks for the replies and the information. I have it as 9.0 in my spreadsheet, but started to think maybe I need to downgrade due to production flaws. Thanks again!
  11. I really don't like trying to grade modern books. I have some Marvel Zombies books that all have similar problems. I believe it's just production issues, but I'm wondering if these "flaws" lower the grade. Unfortunately, it's really difficult to pick up in scans, so I'm hoping that my description and some slightly blurry photos I took with my phone will work. Essentially, several of the covers have a slight waviness to them which I believe is something to do with production. The vertical waves/lines are evenly spaced apart which is why I believe it's production. In addition, several (if not all) of the books have an vertical indentation near the spine which also looks intentional to me. My question is, do these issues lower the grade? Thank you in advance to anyone kind enough to reply and help me with this. Here are the scans of the front and back and photos I took trying to hold the book with one hand and take a photo with my phone in the other. Holding book up to bright light to show waviness in cover. Mostly just in the spot. Indentation near spine. Is this intentional or a flaw?
  12. SOLD!! Thank you! I've really enjoyed these books. Flipped through a couple of them as I was scanning and they are really fun books IMHO.
  13. That's it! If someone wants the whole kit and caboodle (all of the Underdog books), I'd take $220 shipped. Thanks for looking!
  14. Underdog #1 - 5.0/5.5 (formerly CGC graded 6.0) - This book was cracked out and read once. It’s in the same condition as it was when it was slabbed, but IMHO 6.0 was generous on this book. White pages according to label - Off-white to white IMHO. Front cover: a bit of waviness (upper left corner) due to what appears to be some impact (better seen on back cover scan). Back cover: corner crunch with some surface impressions (upper right corner), otherwise very nice & clean. It’s a really nice mid-grade copy. I’m just not sure it is quite 6.0. Asking $150 shipped.
  15. Underdog #5 - 6.5/7.0 - It's a really nice book. White to off-white pages. Front cover: small tear (right open edge near Simon Barsinister’s foot), very light thumb bend (bottom middle edge), small, very light corner bend (lower right corner). Back cover: very nice, although the cover has gotten a shade creamy. Slight mis-cut on cover (lower left corner area) and a slight bend (bottom middle edge). Also, the first two pages interior are mis-cut (production issues, see photo). Asking $20.00 plus shipping - or if you purchase either the Gold Key lot or the Charlton issue 1 shipping will be free.
  16. OK, that's it for the Gold Key run. Reviewing my scans I'm starting to wonder if I was a bit harsh on a few of the books. Taking a quick break to get some more coffee and I'll be back with the two Charlton books.
