  2. Hi All,

I'd greatly appreciate opinions on grade.  This one is pretty attractive head on--glossy, sharp corners, but the front cover especially has a lot going on e.g., indentations, some spine stress marks that break color.  Looks like someone was writing something above the magazine.  No ink or pencil on the cover and in one part it just barely breaks color but doesn't tear through to the other side.  I'm quite confident it needs a press and am hoping it would take care of some of the issues.  Greatly appreciate any thoughts on current condition vs potential condition with a press.

    Welcome to the club!

Wear it as a badge of honor, former CGC Boardie of the year!

Hopefully they didn't strip you of your title.  Or strip you....., of anything else.

Boardie of the Year?! All along I had sensed I was in the presence of greatness, but boardie of the year?!?!  I had not a clue(worship)

Eerie 31 9.0 $30  A really eye-catching cover to go with the story "The Alien Plague" by Billy Graham that is lots of fun, even though it is a knock off of an EC story.  Saunders, Sutton, Tallarico, DuBay are all here.  I have a selection of five copies for you tonight.  This is a dynamite glossy copy that I debated grading higher.

  5. I tend to agree with most of the others.  Had he inspected the item more closely at the outset and called out the CT, then a refund would appear to be in order.  He instead claimed ownership of the comic by engaging in a business transaction with CGC.  Now if he wants to sell you his comic, assuming you want to buy it, then that’s a completely different conversation :)  Notice I don’t see you goin back to the guy who sold it to you.. because you recognize how absurd this would be

Sounds like there might be some interest. I’ll do my preparation work and let you all know when I’ve got them ready. Thanks, you guys are the best.

Oh man, for three hours I've been pressing refresh doh!.  My finger is bloodied.  Call it commitment, call it lunacy, but at least I'm invested in something other than watching the news.

Yeah, that doesn’t quite explain it.  @The Lions Den was a grader at CGC and I think he can confirm that 9.2s graded today, don’t necessarily look like 9.2s graded 10 years ago.  It’s unfortunately very inconsistent particularly on certain books, Vampirella 1 being the most notorious.  But perhaps, the king of the jungle will have more insight?  (shrug)

FWIW, I’ve cracked out many, many mags from slabs and at any given time, the same book can receive a wide swath of grade possibilities (as in 8.5-9.2).  And you can crack out a 9.4 and find a page cut out...

As a kid, I wanted to own a comic store.  As things stand currently, and this may be a bit dramatic, but the plight of the professional comic book seller who makes a living on certified comics would seemingly live and die by that paper label.  And beyond the grade, interest/demand ebbs and flows.  Couldn't imagine relying on this nebulous process to pay the bills.  All credit to those who venture into the fray.

Anyone have interest if I put together a mag sale thread?  Not sure what the temperature is these days, but have been sorting and grading. Also have some extra slabs if anyone is interested. I’ve found myself with more time than usual on my hands for some reason. (shrug)

Any higher grade skywald (e.g., Nightmare 15) would be pretty rad!  Slabs too?!?!  Please say more'(thumbsu
