  1. Sticker looks like it says $200. So….. $200?
  2. Learn to grade. You don’t have to become an expert grader (I don’t even think a lot of the “expert” graders are expert graders going by some CGC subs LOL) but BEFORE you start cataloging value, learn the difference between a near mint comic and a VG/Fine one (that should be pretty obvious). THEN worry about looking up values. Often the difference between grades can mean a giant difference in worth. And often complete noobs think their books are “mint” when they’re at best average to below average.
  3. Wow. I read that whole thing and while, yeah, it seems an obvious attempt to get the thread locked, I’m still very impressed. The comic pressing business doesn’t seem like something he’s cut out for but he should definitely apply to the WWE because he writes better promos than the people they have now.
  4. Bends and creases are super hard to see in slabs. I’ve gotten that note many times myself, sometimes after ordering a press which totally confuses me since that’s what a press is supposed to address. Miscuts count against grade in cards but I thought CGC didn’t penalize production errors with comics so I’m at a loss there
  5. it’s ironic Eiger would champion scaling down budgets when he helped oust Ike Perlmutter from his position in Marvel. Feige has straight out said we would never have gotten Civil War under Perlmutter bc he wanted Marvel to reign in budgets and make cheaper small scale movies like the first Ant Man.
  6. I have a weak gag reflex (keep this board PG, PLEASE) and a strong musty smell will trigger it something fierce. I’ve had to sell/give away back issues I’ve bought off ebay bc I literally couldn’t take it out if the bag without
  7. I’ve been on shortboxed pretty much since it launched and never sold anything. I’m not a huge dealer or anything but I sell like 10-15 slabs per year, mostly ebay with a few on here or FB marketplace. So I definitely have things people want and price them right, I just get no action on there. It’s a nice app and anything beats feebay’s ridiculous fees but unfortunately I think that’s a waste of time unless you’re listing tons of stuff.
  8. Since 1990 seems like a arbitrary time frame. Yes, Spidey comics from then on would be more than the DC titles but only because the key DC issues all came out in the 60s and 70s.
  9. His last rep (that I know of) was a guy named Mike A on FB. A couple months back, Mike posted sketch opportunities on some groups and swiftly had them deleted by mods bc Larry is a well known rip off in the sketch community. I personally dealt with Mike on other artists and found him an honest, good guy so I believe he truly wanted to help Larry. If there’s now another person claiming to be his rep then I guess it didn’t work out. I don’t mean to be harsh or “blame the victim” but Stroman is among the most notorious flakes in the commission world. I remember hearing horror stories about him back 4-5 years ago. Why anyone would send a F&F payment to an artist without doing a little research baffles me
  10. A human has to be on set to say the lines. A human has to be on set to direct how the human says the lines. A computer can write 90% of the lines they’re both using. That’s why writers are the most disposable part of the process and the sooner they realize that the better.
  11. Nathan Fillion would’ve been the perfect Booster Gold but I’m happy he just finally gets his rightful shot at playing GL. Big Bang Theory called it 10 years ago
  12. Yeah I got confused by that as well. OP said “Memorial edition” which I took as the regular plain bloody RED S bag that they printed a million of. Not the silver S bag that is rarer and actually valuable. If it’s the standard red S bag, it’s not valuable at all. OP can buy a still sealed one from a boardie or on eBay for like $10. If they get it slabbed and it’s a 9.8 maybe it’s worth like $120 but that’s not accounting for ebay taking 30% and the CGC slab cost. It sounds like OP is worried taking it out of the bag could cost him some retirement level gem or something. Unless someone buys up thousands and deposits them in a landfill I’d advise OP to do what he wants with his book and not worry about “value”
  13. The classic costume looking awesome finally puts an end to Bryan Singer’s lame “we dressed the xmen in black leather not bc it’s my weird fetish but because bright colors look bad on the big screen” excuse from way back in 2000’s X-Men
  14. I’ve never read any of my 9.8s. That’s why they’re 9.8s.
  15. I’m sure JLO is excited about Affleck hooking back up with his ex
  16. Set of 12? Which bags did you buy that you can stuff 12 comics in one? Some of the newer bags I can barely fit 2 comics in (dual side with a board sandwiched between), I can’t imagine fitting 12 in. My
  17. Just take the time and read the graders notes on all your books and familiarize yourself fixable and non fixable defects. If your 4s are 4s bc rats used it as a snack and the spine is holding on for dear life, no press is going to help much. People think pressing is some magic elixir that will suddenly make their 3.0’s into 9,2s.
  18. I did well last time bc I wasn’t an official participant and just doing it for fun. Please sign me up so I can whiff when it counts
  19. Man, I was a customer at NEC in the early 90s and remember those newsletters. Had I known they’d be worth $15 in thirty years I wouldn’t have let my mom throw away the whole box of them
