  1. First autograph from the first artist at the first comicon I ever attended was Byrne. He was holding court with 4-5 guys just talking about his run at marvel and how they were undoing it (this was during the 90s just before Image boom) when I got to his table. I was crippling shy so I just got my autos & left but I always remember flipping through the stack of original art pages he had on the table & thinking “gosh, $50? $150!?!? Comicons aren’t for poor high school kids like me!” Little did I know if I had saved my paper money & bought 1-2 of those pages I’d probably be able to buy a new car today
  2. I’m not one to nitpick grades since I realize they’re somewhat subjective but I recently sent in a IDW Transformers variant metal cover. And when I say metal I’m not talking thin foil cover, this cover was solid METAL like a dvd steel book. I got 9.8. Now if a cover that can probably stop a bullet can’t rate a 10, I just don’t know what would. feel like there’s just graders who have it in their heads that 9.8 = flawless and 10 doesn’t exist which is just preposterous & disqualifying
  3. Stuff in slabs can be hard to see. I get notes like “light stain” or “finger bends” in my notes all the time and you can’t see any of it in the slab, you’ll either have to crack it out or trust cgc knows what they’re doing
  4. It’s on D+ and yea it’s fun. Watch it there and spare yourself the virus & browser hijacking
  5. Maybe it’s because I deal in trading cards where people calling things “rookie cards” that aren’t or bragging about “low pops” bc it’s such a worthless common card nobody else would bother submitting it is so common that this sort of thing seeping into comic books doesn’t bother me. Everyone has their hustle and it’s unfortunately on the buyer to beware. Besides if I messaged every person on eBay with a tick and bend filled “NEAR MINT! PERFECT CONDITION!” or “RARE!” when there’s two pages of hits I’d feel like Lucy making pies
  6. Step 1: Look up graded examples of your comic up on eBay. Step 2: if it’s worth more than about $100, it’s worth getting slabbed as long as you’ve never read your comics ever. Step 3: ????? Step 4: Profit.
  7. Surprised to have no action all week. I see some of these books go on IG live sales all the time priced the same or more than I’ve listed here. Anyway no sense keeping these exclusive to the board if nobody’s interested. I’ll keep this up a few more days before moving my meager offerings elsewhere. Until then, I’ll offer a 10% discount off the prices listed here. Offers are also still welcome.
  8. Yeah if you’re not bothered by things like that it’s not unusual to get really great deals on otherwise pricey key books. I’m collecting a complete run of raw ASM (vol 1) and I’ve gotten VF+/NM copies of 135 (2nd punisher) and 238 (hobby) for $25 snd $60 respectively just bc one had the value stamp clipped & the other was missing the tattooz
  9. Those are pretty cool but it makes me sad they destroyed the comics to make them. I’d buy something like that for the historical value but if they tried to price it even a fraction of what the actual issues go for I’d walk away. Unfortunately they’re not the comics anymore so they aren’t worth (to me, at least) what the unblemished issues are.
  10. Unless CGC is there themselves you’ll be paying an extra fee one way or another. You need a witness when you get your books signed and all facilitiators charge a fee for that. So you have to go to Captured’s booth regardless of whether you submit the books in your account or theirs. Just go there first thing BEFORE before getting your books signed (otherwise it doesn’t count) and they’ll walk you through it. Most facilitators are used to dealing with newbies,
  11. And last but not least, Harley Quinn #11 Mexican photo variant signed by Margot Robbie. If you follow things like CGC's recent mail in signing with Michael Keaton or pretty much any autograph opportunity with a big name celeb you'll know the prices are crazy. Now that Ms. Robbie is a A list megastar from Barbie, I can't imagine what she's going to charge when/if she ever does another signing. This book is an ultra-rare Mexican photo variant that last I checked only had FOUR copies listed on the CGC census. Look at what ScarJo's first Black Widow photo variant sells for unsigned! Asking $1000
  12. Crisis on Infinite Earths #7. Signed by writer Marv Wolfman. Iconic cover by late great George Perez. Alas, see above for why I'm willing to part with it. Asking $115
  13. Hulk #340 and it's not signed by Todd McFarlane! It's signed by the writer, Peter David. I'm weirdly OCD about my signed books where I like to have the artist AND writer both sign key issues. If I can't get the full creative team, it bugs me. Intended to send this in next time Toddfather has a signing but... Asking $200
  14. Transformers #1 limited numbered Metal cover signed by Peter Cullen and Frank Welker. I thought for sure this would come back a 10.0. It's a .25 cm thick solid metal cover! If that's not impervious to flaws, I don't know what is. But I guess acetate wraps are stronger Forgot to add price - this is selling on feebay for over $600. I'll do a boardie friendly price of $575
  15. Thanks for checking out my sales post. I don't sell here very often because I'm a primarily a collector but occasionally things come up like a trip to Megacon followed by emergency dental surgery. Now I'm not saying one is related to the other but I would caution everyone from eating strange burritos from push carts. I don't have a Kudos thread but I have bought stuff from almost all the usual sellers so they can at least attest this account has a real life nerd behind it. I have been buying & selling on ebay for 25 years (!!!!) with 100% feedback so you're welcome to check up on me there (same username as here) if you have any worries. Rules are the usual. No people on any bad boy lists or from Cleveland. Returns accepted within 7 days of delivery at your expense. Shipping is $15 for USPS Priority mail. I will combine shipping if you're feeling froggy and buy multiple slabs. Payments accepted include Paypal, Zelle and old fashioned check or money order. EVERYTHING IS OBO. I'm open to offers but an trumps any ongoing negotiations. No trades, sorry.
  16. I saw every superhero movie from Blade through The Batman including paying for such gems as Elektra and Green Lantern. As a kid of the 70s/80s, I felt like just the fact my comics I grew up with made it to the big screen was enough to earn my support. Then 2021 broke me. I finally buckled and skipped Mobius then Quantumania then Shazam. Brand loyalty doesn’t last forever
  17. I 100% believe it. I’ve been to so many comicon a and sports cards shows where I’ll see a dealer with a Jordan card or key issue of Spidey and after a few moments of small talk in reference to the item it’s obvious they have zero idea what I’m talking about. I guess it makes it easier to ruthlessly but and sell things you have no interest in.
  18. I was just at Megacon a few weeks ago (has to be top 5 biggest cons of the year) and some seller had an entire line of “Pedro is my Daddy” merch and I swear I saw a zillion women walking around with one of their bags or prints or whatever. He’s the absolute perfect choice as far as having nerd cred, being cool enough guys like him AND appealing to the female demo like mad. Another thing I saw that weekend was a TON of people wearing Hellfire Club shirts/cosplay because Joe Quinn was supposed to be there (he canceled last minute). I dunno what he can do with the Johnny role to make it interesting but besides MBB, I think he’s the one younger actor from ST people are keen on so that was great casting as well. I don’t know much about the other two but at the very least Disney avoided their usual pandering by swapping the characters so at least everything is off on the right foot. If they can nail Doom, which is where the previous two versions totally blew it, everything should be alright. I’m not very enthused with any of the names I’ve seen thrown around so far.
  19. My third CGC contest with finishes of 30, 22, and now 32. Can’t really complain though since this looks like it was the hardest contest to date. Hope my score goes to the 20s next time. Thanks @CGC Mike for administering & the cryptic emojis I enjoy parsing out until the reveals
  20. Very tricky CGC! I had 4.5 for every book in my first impression pass through but then thought, “surely they wouldn’t give us 5 books all the same grade!” so went back and adjusted a few up & down to my detriment. I should’ve known that knowing what they’d think I’d know would be exactly what they wanted me to think I knew. Ya know?
  21. Yes I also received frightened popcorn munching from Mike, which I assume means I bombed. Popcorn never means anything good
  22. No he’s not. He’s just retiring from drawing deadpool. I bet he’ll still be happy to charge you $250 to draw a lousy 30 second DP balloon at a con, tho.
  23. I had them both at 7. They’re virtually identical to me. I guess one grader broke up with his girlfriend that day - or one had a very good morning, depending where you fall on the 7 vs 5 debate
