  1. www.cfpcomics.com is said to be the golden standard for pressing. They send to CGC as well.
  2. Hey all! I just recieved a Wonder Woman 55 for very cheap due to a detached cover than is almost split in half. I swear, if I open the book again I am pretty sure it will be fully split with less than half an inch keeping it together. So I was thinking, should I add some tape to the spine to prevent that from happening? It's something I never thought I would do, but would it grade higher with the tape and not fully split (ex:2.0) than fully split (ex:1.5)? So let me know what you think.
  3. Some Golden Age goodness just arrived in the mail.
  4. Glad to know I am not the only one who has those issues with them. But seriously, I cant believe a site with this much traffic and such high volume sales allows itself to look like it hasn't updated since 98.
  5. Man, i was watching this auction and the key GA books I was looking at, like Mary Marvel 5, went for the highest prices I have ever seen. So far I have seen no impact of the current economy for the books I want. Anyways, back to your original post, how would the quarantine even affect there being a back cover scan? Like do they contractually have to do all back cover scans at a printer found in a school library that's now closed? That's a terrible response on their part.
  6. Was following several auctions for key fawcetts and yeah, no obvious deals so far.
  7. Oh big time, I was just offering an extra book/result to go with this thread.
  8. Still not seeing anything I'd call much of a deal on what I am looking for. The CL auction that ended yesterday had some nice Neal Adams Batman stuff I was bidding on and they all sold for decent amounts. Batman 232 9.0 sold for 650 while a book of that grade sold for 660 last year. I wouldn't call 10$ much of a drop.
  9. Sounds like more fodder for this thread, with those books selling for less than the cost of grading them.
  10. Yes, I've seen that effect with silver age keys and Neal Adams Batman keys. Though I wouldnt call them deals, they simply sell closer to guide than the raws.
  11. Yeah, but does that only happen when slabbed? Or can you still get those good prices on raw copies?
  12. It was selling for 1$ raw at the same time that you bought it for 202$ slabbed?
  13. I would add a "non high grade" to that statement because even keys like first Batwoman are selling for not much more than cost at the 9.4/9.6 grades
  14. I agree with the idea of auctioning one off first. if you get a price you're ok with then do that with the other two. And if you don't, then at least you know the FMV and can put a BIN price that suits you.
  15. I was looking at this book and wondering if it not being binded properly went into the 9.4 grade. Or if it must be another defect I don't see. Can such misalignment also be found on 9.6/9.8 moderns?
  16. I think it does, and I think it's what would prevent it from getting a 4.0.
  17. Pressing this could really help. As it is, anything between 6.0-7.0 would make sense.
  18. I do. It would eliminate those big creases on the cover. The issue you'll be stuck with then are the spine ticks, colour break crease on bottom right corner and staple tear, so I don't know how much higher than 6.0 it would go.
  19. Found this while looking for sold prices for reference: I guess it's 9.8 or bust.
  20. Very disapointed they didn't call the new team the Social Justice Warriors. That opportunity was GOLDEN!
  21. The pencil mark is not what is keeping this book 9.0, it can't be. So removing it will have 0 effect. Instead, what's keeping it down are some spine ticks, two issues on the back edge (I see a smaller nick below the bigger tear) and there is something going on with that top and bottom right corners at the spine. Do you have the grader notes on this? That would help you see what is bringing down the grade. if you don't have them, you can purchase them from CGC for 5$.
