  1. I always felt 100-200$ was a decent treshold for book thst cost 20$ to grade. Of course, depends how much you spent on the book in the first place. If you bought a raw for 80$, getting it slabbed to sell it for 100$ is just as nonsensical. The treshold could be lower with someone dealing in a much higher volume for immediate resell.
  2. Here are some random modern books that are sought after more than other issues in the run simply due to the covers. Veronica 28 because sex sells and Transformers 53 and 67 because those are Jim Lee covers.
  3. Sure, but its still sold at a loss so why even bother? these were just a few examples, I can find hundreds like this. I dont get either the buying or selling of most of these randomly slabbed books.
  4. Had some fun in the dollar bin of my LCS today (wanted to go one last time before they closed shop for the quarantine). There was a Bane conquest 2 as well that I forgot to photograph.
  5. These are neither my sales or purchases, just examples to go with my question.
  6. I see. What book is it, and what's the difference in prices that it got in the past?
  7. I am sure there is nothing ground breaking in stating that sometimes (often?), getting a book slabbed is not worth it. We all have our reasons (mine is that when it comes to really pricey books, I like knowing exactly where my comic is valued at and the current collecting landscape with CGC grants that), but when looking at what some of these go for on the market, I really wonder what was the point of slabbing random books. Here are examples below of books all selling at either a loss or very marginal gains. Slabbing costs 20$ plus you have the shipping fees for both ways (or submitting at a con, which has it's own costs), plus invoice fees, taxes, and extra fees you may opt for (pressing/fast track). And then there's the fees related to selling (e-bay/paypal fees or consignment fees on auction sites). And of course, all this does not take how much the actual book cost into account, which could really amplify one's loss. At least selling a comic raw would minimize one's losses. So, what was the point to slabbing any of these?
  8. I don't know myself, but I am curious as to why a 0.5 blue would be better than, say, an 8.5 green. Especially for what I am assuming is a worthwhile comic to grade if a 0.5 would be sought after.
  9. If you don,t need the funds, then keep it, you at least wont miss the market recovery when it happens.
  10. Ah I see, so it's not really a case of FOMO or Speculation but instead really just the demand of people who actually want it in their collection surpasses how many were made. makes sense, I didn't know about the Joker War stuff, and I have both batman and Detective in my pull list.
  11. If it was easy to find, then why did you ask the question? I took my time to find that info for you and now it feels wasted, and you've just indicated to everyone here that it is not worhtwhile to bother with this topic. If you want to find them, then just subscribe to the GPA https://comics.gpanalysis.com/ And that's it.
  12. Hey man, my best advice is to look this up online. Look at how much they sold on these boards here before, for instance. Here's an example for Invincible 1 And look them up on either e-bay sold listings or how much they are going for on mycomicshop (which has a very large inventory) https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?TID=454991 Seeing as how the one for 905 is not sold yet, I'd say anything from 850-900 would be fair. You can do that for the others.
  13. But we don't know if that will even happen. Your first statement reminds me of my quest for Detective Comics 73. I would love it if I could find it for cheap, but I have serious doubt of that.
  14. It's not what I have been experiencing. Bidding (and being outbid) on some Neal Adams batman stuff right now and those books seem as hot as ever. Can't believe I had to pay more than guide on a mid grade Detective 407 in times where "comic values are falling". Same with the golden age books I am interested in. Others on these boards are reporting the same things with rare golden age. I've only seen drops in big ticket marvel silver age books that I can't afford anyways.
  15. I don't get it, I really don't. Even if Punchline was in it, I still don't get why it would sell this high since she's now had two previous appearances.
  16. Same. But it's because the books I look for only come on auction once every year or two. Honestly, on the GA side, nothing's really seemed to change yet.
  17. It's an official pedigree : https://www.cgccomics.com/news/article/7577/ And to answer the main question, if it is signed, it will get the yellow siganture series label but it will be mentionned that it's a pedigree.
  18. Awesome idea for a thread. I have a bunch, will be glad to share em when I dig em out.
  19. I havent used ComicLink in a while are they still only slabbed books? I mainly look for non slabbed mid grade golden age. Reece didn't have too much and for what I was looking for (ex Captain marvel Jr, Master Comics), and they were more expensive than other places, including My comic shop. I guess it really depends on what you are looking for.
  20. Maybe for what you are looking for, but for what I wanted, they were the cheaper option. But if you kbow of an online seller who has better prices, please let me know, I would rather save as much as I could Also their large inventory makes me save a lot on shipping since I can get eveything in one shipment rather than have to pay 20+ shipping for each book sent to canada.
