  1. Why are you comparing midgrade books, isn't this about 9.4s? If you want to make a point, have your examples be as close to yours as possible. And as I said, if you want attention on your book and market price, just put it up for auction. Nothing discussed here will be worthwhile beyond that, I promise you that.
  2. It is. And I myself am looking for one but I didn't see your post so I didn't make an offer.
  3. You just proved why you arent getting higher offers. You want what CGC books are getting without selling a CGC book. When someone thinks of purchasing this book, they look at what CGC books are selling for and deduct from the potential worth all costs that it would cost to get there plus the odds that it comes back in a lower grade and then come up with a price. So it can never be the same. If you don't want to incur the costs and risks of turning this into a cgc book, then you'd have to sell at a discount. You can believe your book is worth more, but it's only worth what someone is willing to buy it for. If you need the money take the offer. If you don't need the money, then let it go. But I wouldn't question why you arent getting higher offers, we have now all given you all the right reasons as to why. You can also simply put it up on auction and get what it goes for, then you'll get it for it's real market value. I think that would be your best bet if you need the money and want it for what it's truly worth.
  4. Your best bet is sending them for auction at Mycomicshop.com. They have the best expense/exposure ratio and you avoid returns and fraudulent buyers.
  5. That is literally the exact discount people have quoted in previous discussions on the very same topic. If you have full confidence in this being equal to a CGC book, then your best option is to spend some money to get this in a CGC holder. Then you'll get the price you want. If you don't want to spend that money, then sell it discounted, as you bought it, so that someone else can try their luck with it. Also, why didn,t you take the 1,200 offer?
  6. You can post pics of CBCS slabs in relation to discussion pertaining to CGC. So I did exactly that above. And people post them sometimes asking "if I sent this to CGC, would they be stricter?".
  7. When someone uses absolutes, all you need is one example to prove that false.
  8. Do you guys see any potential in this minor key book? Or is interest in Steppenwolf past whatever peak it may have had?
  9. I would say "no". Not necessarily based on how much money it could get in one random auction, but in terms of what kind of book it is. Batman 227 has a nice cover. And that's it. Hulk 181 is the "first appearance" of one of the most popular comic book characters of all time. So yeah, not in the same league.
  10. My favourite option is to send to Mycomicshop in one of their auctions. Get in contact with them, they are a great bunch and have the lowest fees.
  11. yeah, that was my point above, why expect a different outcome now?
  12. Simple answer: did you press and clean it the first time you sent it was was it ever pressed/cleaned before? If the answer to both is "no", then go ahead and crack, press, regrade. Worth a shot.
  13. Always? Same book given the same grade by CGC and CBCS, sold at the same time for the same price.
  14. I'm a bit confused, why would you say it has fallen out of favour when you are being offered more money than what you spent on it? Look at the year you bought it at 900 in a voldy 9.4 slab and look at how much the CGC version of the same book was going for at the same time. Were they the same? How much was a CGC 9.4 going for when you bought yours? With that answer, you'll basically be answering your own question.
  15. I still think you are going about this the wrong way since grades are subjective and you can't prove you're right without it being sent to CGC. A production defect like that is acceptable in a 4.5. But do as you wish, I wont bother you anymore with this.
  16. I don't think that's fair since we don't know the book would be qualified. He'd be in his right to say he'd only refund you that amount after you prove it's qualified nature after being sent to CGC. The grade they sold it to you may still be accurate. So I don't think the road you took is the right one, it would be more fair to just ask to send the book back for a full refund since they didn't disclose after you asked.
  17. Really fun haul for me, really love some Silver Age Batman first appearances. And another affordable Fawcette, why not.
  18. cool book, sorry about that. While I still stand by my claim that it's a production defect, I really don't like that the info was witheld hen you explicitly asked for anything of the sort. make a claim on e-bay and show them the communication. Should be an easy case for them to deal with.
  19. I get that, thanks for the insight. What I wonder is how much significance matters in stirring interest in a book. For instance, FF 6 is a very significant book, with that being the very first Marvel villain team up. But that book hasn't moved in 10 years and I'm not sure if it will ever become hot.
