  1. You understood it well. The Screening is usually meant for pricier books and older books (where a screening can be worthwhile), hence why in many instances you are indeed better off just doing a quick press. It doesn't really apply to moderns. And a quick press would not hurt a book.
  2. Yeah, FF10 has been a crazy bargain for the past 10 years, even though it's as rare as any of the others. Wondering how long that will last. I can't speak for most of the record prices, but I can confirm that the record price for the 7.5 Blue Beetle 1 on Heritage yesterday was indeed legit since I'm the one who bought it. And I didn't mind paying that since I just placed a price I felt the book was worth, without looking at what it sold for in the past.
  3. Wasn't a mega key, but holy hell it seems FF 6 has surged so much in the past 6 months.
  4. For a decade this book hasn't moved much, at least not in low-mid grades (maybe it didn't move much in higher grades, but I don't know). But low and behold, one just sold for exactly double guide. I'm wondering if any of you are seeing this interest elsewhere or if this is just some random bidding war fluke we won't see repeated. https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/fantastic-four-6-marvel-1962-cgc-vg-35-cream-to-off-white-pages/a/122107-15297.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  5. Haha Haha, that was excellent. Now's the time to sell Fawcetts I guess.
  6. That's gorgeous, thanks for sharing! Also, glad this topic popped up again because just now there was some big money spent on Fawcett books that really surprised me. If any of you have an idea as to why this lot of 4 comics was sold for over 2 times guide, please let me know. None of these seem like keys. https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/the-marvel-family-group-of-4-fawcett-publications-1946-total-4-comic-books-/a/122107-15423.s?ic2=mybidspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyBids-101116 The Marvel Family Group of 4 (Fawcett Publications, 1946). Includes #3 (FN), 7 (Wizard Shazam appearance - FN-), 9 (GD/VG), and 10 (VG-). Approximate Overstreet value for group = $400.
  7. I am going to sell some doubles I own on mycomicshop since my previous transactions with them worked well. This would be the first time I send raw books though. I was wondering if I should press the books first so that they get the best possible grade given to them when listed on their site. What have you done in the past?
  8. There can be notes for 9.0s. 9.6 and off usually don't. If I were you, I would contact CGC to check what's going on.
  9. The grading guide is indeed the best advice one could give and any edition of the past 20 years will do the job.
  10. Exactly. Miles is a great character in and of himself and someone had a chance to own art from his original appearance, and the only original art that can ever be made available. That's wild. It's a unique collectible, sky was the limit on this one. Also, as to the original post, I do agree that it is very sad to see that many have more money than before due to this pandemic while even more are now worse off. The significant wealth gap the US already had has only worsened. All I can say is I'm glad I had bought similar assets in the past, even though they were simply for my enjoyment rather than seen as investments.
  11. Hi, this relates to the image CGC shows here as an example: https://www.cgccomics.com/news/article/8860/ Firstly, your example has an error on the label since the sketch is by Miller (according to your examples below) and not Janson Also, your example shows a signature DUO + a remarque from only 1 artist. That option is not available in your signing. It's either 2 sigs, or 2 remarques. Just might want to correct that since it really confuses me and might confuse others.
  12. Is the Miller/Janson signing being discussed here? I just find it odd that you can't actually order the example given by CGC. We have individual signing options, individual remarques, duo sining and duo remarques but no option to get duo signings ang one remarque. So the example given (with a sketch attributed to the wrong artist, showing QC errors in full effect) is not an option.
  13. The value of the book is based on what you want back if it gets lost. I had a Thor 337 that was a 9.8 candidate. If they lost it, I would want back the price of a 9.8 whether or not that's what the comic is, so that's the value I wrote. Also, every different tier means a different shipment of books back to you, so more costs.
  14. Please don't. I don't need more people bidding against me I really like the auctions on mycomicshop. You find stuff there you don't see on heritage. Like Heritage would have this 5 issue lot of strange adventures and you are stuck having to spend 200 to buy them all where as on MCS you could just bid on that one issue you want. It's basically like shopping at Walmart vs shopping at Costco. I've left walmart with a bill of less than 100$ several times but I never leave costco without 200$ worth of stuff. And it is similar stuff, just different quantities or qualities.
  15. Once you consign and they receive your items, you can then choose to sell it at a specific price or have it be part of one of their upcoming auction.
  16. It does. I can attest to that, both as a buyer and an auction seller. And yes, bigger more expensive books show up more at Heritage and Comiclink but that only means that when a big book shows up at Mycomicshop, it has a HUGE effect. In terms of money you make, you will make as much at Mycomicshop than Heritage. I know there are examples of a comic selling for more on Heritage than MCS BUT they are looking at the final price and not how much the seller made. Hertiage has an extra 20% buyer premium which they show in the final price and the seller sees none of that extra money. And anyways, Heritage needs a minimum of 5000$ worth of consignments, and MCS has no minimum.
  17. Mycomicshop also resets the time on every new bid and it has the cheapest comission compared to the others you mentionned. For books like these, I feel an auction is the best way to go.
  18. nobody will be able to give you a grade based on those pictures. You'll have to take it out of the frame and show us front and back.
  19. Are you a Sith Lord? I hear they only deal in absolutes.
  20. I was curious to see if the 20-25% standard was indeed there in high grades so I picked a book with lots of sales on e-bay, Amazing Spider-man 361. And YIKES, you can see the difference. Granted, it's one example taking place right now. What I found most telling though was how the "verified" sig from CBCS sold for the least. You get a premium of 20-100% for CGC over CBCS. And yeah, you can ignore the newstand price, it's not a fair comparison. All CGC in Canadian prices All CBCS in Canadian prices
