  1. Go for the bigger books. With rising prices, you might not get a chance to get them at these prices later. And don,t spend any money on grading if you are keeping these books for your own collection.
  2. There is no set rule for that, not even a trend. Nothing Its case by case and will differ book to book
  3. 9.8 never meant flawless or even near flawless. It means 1 thing and 1 thing only: There must be 0 wear post production. Any defect which CGC attributes to the production of the comic is allowed on a 9.8 So you can potentially have some really ugly 9.8s like your comic
  4. Honestly, you are better off not buying the book if you want it graded since the answer could potentially be yes to all in the worst case scenario.
  5. Yeah exactly, that proves my point. That's less than a 50% increase year over year while FF 6 has over 100% increase. FF6 is on freaken fire right now
  6. Lucky you, that's a better copy than I could ever dream to own at the moment. Solid 5.0
  7. a 9.8 can certainly look worse than a 9.4 and that's because people do not know the definition of a 9.8 To get a 9.8 your book has to show absolutely 0 wear AFTER production. For instance, Amazing Spider-man 361 has a production flaw which includes an actual tear on the cover. It looks bad. And yet, because that is done during production and not after, you can get a 9.8. You can have an Amazing Spider-man 362 with a smaller tear on the cover but if that tear is done after production, then you'r book will be a 9.2 or less. Some modern books have garbage spines with colour flakes all over but since that's during production, you can get a 9.8. Same goes for corner chips, which can give you a really ugly 9.8 as well, something a 9.4 with very slight creases would not have. So there you have it, loads of reasons for a 9.8 to look far worse than a 9.4. Still makes it a 9.8 and it does not mean grading is inconsistent, it just means some people understand how grading works and others don't. And no, CGC does not go easier for books at cons. The only instance where CGC goes easier is on the Church Pedigree books, but to be fair, the grades on those books feel more like a formality than anything else, no one is choosing them over another copy because of the specific grade (9.6 rather than 9.4).
  8. That's because FF 4 has been consistently climbing for as long as I can remember. I always found it way too expensive for my taste. I'm sure it will keep it's worth, it's always been a hot book, but I don't expect a crazy climb year over year. FF 6 by comparison has been dormant for years, not moving at all and always falling back down to older prices after small climbs. Now it is actually hot for the first time ever. It is climbing ridiculously. Also HA gets the same prices or higher for SA Marvel.
  9. The peak was simply speculation due to him being the main villain of the first ever Justice League film. And I too understand interest in Barda. I think of all the New God characters, she may be the one to look out for. I always found it cool that she was part if the future Justice League in the DC animated universe.
  10. 6.5 for that comic seems fair. Don't send it back, a different grader could give it a 6.0, I wouldn't risk it (and I certainly wouldn't spend another 100$ getting this pressed and graded again)
  11. Here's the one I bought in 2013, glad I did then. But I'll tell you for many years it looked like I had overpaid.
  12. the only thing a press would help with are the moderate bends and maybe the creases if there is no colour break. But since the big defect here is moderate spine stress then that would not go away and a 6.5 is usually the best you get for lots of spine stress. Take care!
  13. Even Daredevil 3? That comic has languished for 15 years at least.
  14. Stan said he wanted to make the most realistic superheroes ever done in comics. And part of that was not wearing costumes. The response to the comic was great except for the lack if costumes. So his editor told him and Jack to add costumes. This was in an interview from around 2009 or so.
  15. WHAT?! How did you find those? Those are beyond rare and fetch a ridiculous price, I can't freaken believe it! Just kidding. I mean they might be super rare but I don't know, I have never seen these before either. just couldn't resist, best of luck!
  16. The listing is still wrong though. They say that you are bidding on Silver Surfer 3, but that is not true. The book being auctioned off is Fantasy Masterpiece 3. So pretty sure you could return this if one wanted to.
  17. Yes if you want to sell your comic and it falls under one of the three following situations: - Your comic is a high grade candidate (so 9.4, 9.6, 9.8 depending the era) - Your comic has a nastly flaw that would make it hard to sell raw (like a split spine, coffee stains or tape) - It's a very expensive comic where 0.5-1.0 difference in grade can mean a lot of money
  18. I am in Canada and have shipped to CGC, I always use Canada Post, it's very affordable. No special label needed on the package. BUT, when you fill out the customs sheet and they ask what is being sent write "books to be analyzed and sent back" and insure the package for the right amount.
  19. I don't think it will fall either. Prices fall when something is overvalued but if it was initially undervalued then the price is just getting to what we were all thinking it should be. Anyways, came here to say that the early Fantastic Four books that laid dormant for a while are finally heating up. FF 6 is going up like crazy (double guide now) and FF10 is FINALLY selling at higher than guide price, rather than lower which has been the case for almost 20 years now.
