  1. Bottom right corner is pretty rough. That and all the little spine breaks = 7.0/7.5 in my book.
  2. I think it is a solid 9.4 with a shot at 9.6. Doubt it is 9.8 material but scans sometimes are worse looking compared to the book in hand. The outside variable it the ability of the person cleaning and pressing the book.
  3. 9.4 and up would make this worth getting graded. IMO these are very undervalued books in the 9.4 to 9.6 range.
  4. Need better pictures AND one of the back cover to give an educated grade. Uneducated it is anywhere from 5.0 to 8.0.
  5. I’ve gotten in books that were in 3 separate bags and boards.
  6. I see them every way possible No bag or board Bag only 10 to a bag Board in the middle of the book One bag-one board up to one bag-8 boards Two bags-one board One bag-lucite board (front and back) moderns in magazine bags silver age in modern bags and boards you name it, i’ve seen it.
  7. Look at the inside of the front cover. Do you see the same jagged line as the front of the cover? Is there ink loss? Something looks fishy with that area. May be a simple wrinkle in the paper when it was printed, or could be a tear that was glued or taped down. If it is a tear I don’t see any better than a 7.0/7.5.
  8. Doubt that is a printing issue. Looks like one of its previous owners tried cleaning something off with a solvent that took off some of the ink.
  9. This would have to come back as a graded 5.5 in order for you to break even after grading/shipping fees. When I see the disclaimer that we are not professional graders, I start looking elsewhere.
  10. The TOD 1 has the bulk of the damage in the spine. 7.0 range is about right. The TOD 10 has a crease bottom right corner, a small color break along the top edge of the front cover and a few spine tics. If what I think is a crease on the edge by Dracula’s cloak I would say 8.5. If it is not a crease you might pull a 9.0 if the book was cleaned up a bit.
  11. Not really. I usually like my fruit cold, but the one exception I would make is for pineapple.
  12. You know youv’e made it to the big leagues when you have CAK in your corner.
  13. About 60% or more. The trend, of late, is books that were graded by collectors who had not heard of pressing until after their books came back from CGC with grades lower than expected.
  14. I get in a lot of slabs where the owner is looking for upgrade potential. Out of every hundred or so slabs, maybe 2-3 are first generation slabs.
  15. It’s just ink transfer. Very common. In some cases there could be large splotches of ink on interior pages.
  16. The damage to the bottom right edge most likely happened post encapsulation. If it doesn’t break color it is an easy fix.
