  1. The dirt will all come off, unfortunately the stains and tanning will remain. It is structurally sound which helps with the eye appeal, and will clean up and press nicely
  2. Could have been a bindery issue that fell off or a color flake. Cannot tell from the scan if the corner is missing all the paper of just the color.
  3. That should clean up nicely. Whats going on under the laser blast from the robot? Is it a dirty raised area?
  4. It might be worth taking the shot. Even if it stays the same grade, a CGC 7.5 will sell better than the holder the book presently sits in.
  5. It was down last night for a little bit. Haven't checked yet today.
  6. I am assuming he is no longer pressing books for him.
  7. Really need a scan of the book. I have seen notes like this on 9.8 books where you cannot find the defects they list.
  8. Crayon is very hard to detect, in the sense it can be polished into the cover, making any areas of transition almost seamless in gloss. You need very high magnification or heat. I see it all the time when pressing books where some color will transfer to the release paper. 80% of the time that happens it is crayon.
  9. I was there. I don’t remember it that way, as I implicitly remember giving Nik extra money to help defray costs.
  10. I was there. You had to really look, but there was CT all over the place.
  11. Ditto. Some serious artwork going in.
  12. Tim has two. That was the night I fell asleep with my socks on, and Tim posted a picture of it on the boards. I miss my friend.
  13. If you guys would like...we could ask the moderators to create the “purists” sub-forum for you. Then you wouldn’t have to exist side by side with us knuckle draggers.
  14. Most in that picture are board members...with the exception of the one young lady who sat next to Greggy.
  15. 2008 was my first Chicago show, it seemed to me everyone knew each other pretty well at that show.
  16. Unless you are getting signatures on books, is it really worth all this aggravation to save a few dollars on shipping?
  17. I have a few books for sale in the 7/10 auction and, on average, everything is tracking at GPA.
  18. When walking around the convention floor at the next comic show, pay attention to the conversations taking place. Make a note of every conversation about pressing. You will be surprised how many there are.
