  1. I’d like to add that buying a dealer lunch or dinner from time to time doesn’t hurt. Having spent 30 years dealing with sales and services, I have found that developing these types of relationships (friendships actually) are mutually beneficial compared with the quick score. After a while the well of quick scores drys up, while a dealer that knows you spend a reasonable amount of money for reasonably priced books will contact you when they get in a collection.
  2. Sounds like it is part of the printing process. Do you have a picture we can use as a reference?
  3. I find open dialogue and being a repeat customer helps with negotiations.
  4. I have seen plenty of copies of Hulk 181 with foxing all over the cover and interior pages. One thing I find interesting about foxing is its randomness. Years ago I used to pull books from a warehouse, that was not air conditioned, here in Central Florida. I would go through long boxes of books, and in the middle of the box would be 5 books with foxing, then 50 perfectly fine copies, then 10 copies with foxing, etc. I guess it is what's inherent in the book to begin with. This could come down to one roll of paper versus another during production, bu it is just a guess on my part. With regards to foxing getting worse, I have some slabs in my collection for the last 13 years that have some very light foxing that has not gotten worse with the passing of time.

  13. Normal Rules No HOS or Probies or if I have you on ignore. Consider all books pressed. Shipped USPS priority + insured. Price includes shipping. Personal checks, or USPS MOs preferred, but PayPal is accepted. 1st in the thread wins it and beats any deals via PM. No return on slabbed comics.
  14. IIRC...when Borock was the head grader at CGC, the stance on foxing wasn’t as tight as it is today. Steve has a background in printing (his father I believe) and saw foxing as part of the process, the same as bindery defects. It wasn’t hit that hard until Haspel took over as the head grader. CGC’s stance has remained the same.
  15. Happens more than you think. Mainly because the person doing the work is not familiar with pressing at all, even though they consider themselves a pro. If you do have any work done it is best to ask around and use someone reputable and not those who would private message you about how good they are.
  16. By the time you go about sending this one in, you could buy a 9.0 or 9.2 copy that is already graded.
  17. There were lighter crowds, but from what I could see the dealers were busy. I went in with medium expectations and spent more than I budgeted for the show. Maybe there we more buyers, but less window shoppers this year.
