  1. Figure it will take a week from date of the package being signed for, before it gets entered into the system. So whatever the TAT is add 7 days for it to go from delivered to received. Its the new reality, but still light years better than "the other guys".
  2. It will get dinged from CGC. How hard depends upon the actual indentation from the bag. Good news is they can be pressed out.
  3. I don't see these as much as in the past, but there was a time that the puddling of the CGC inner well was so bad it actually "pressed" the shape into the back of the book. It can be pressed out easily, but it is affecting the book to a degree. Don't see this in the newest iteration of the case.
  4. Submit a scan of the worst and best copy in the PGM section of the boards. That should help determine if they are safe enough to press.
  5. I was patient and was a day or two away from putting in a claim for the contents of that box. Would have been close to $23,000.00 if they were not found. Fortunately they were and, in the end, everyone was happy.
  6. I see this from time to time. Next time a book with damage from storage comes across my desk I will post scans. The recommendation also came from Eric (who no longer works at CGC), I would like to see it come from someone higher up like Paul or Matt.
  7. Having looked at the pre-pressing scans not sure why so many of the guesses were that low. Very little breaks color on this book. It had all the right defects if you were looking for a book that could press way up.
  8. A proper pressing will help this book big time.
  9. The spine tics can be removed as long as they don’t break color.
  10. The Platinum Edition of Spider-Man #1 is notorious for cracked spines due to the thick cover stock used. IMO it is more the ink cracking than paper damage that makes the spine look so bad. I have yet to run across a copy that is not safe to work on, but there are always exceptions. This one would need extra care, but it safe to press.
  11. I see damage from improper storage all the time. Any book with a slight overhang is very susceptible to this happening. Moderns I would say are at a very low risk, but the risk is almost zero if stored spine down. If you consider the way a comic is produced, the spine side is the strongest and less likely to be damaged due to the book sliding into contact with the case.
  12. Two stains that size would result in a grade loss of 2.0 or greater. I have seen books that would have been a slam dunk 9.8 come back 8.5 and lower for a small stain, let alone quarter sized. Over time, I am going to assume that the water stains are not the only defects this improperly pressed book will exhibit. Even though the book is slabbed a scan wills till help determine what the grade MAY have been if it hadn't been damaged in the humidification process.
  13. The whole scenario would not exist if a pro was used.
