  1. Or it could be that other pressers are much more in demand. If I did 3-5 books a day I would have a TAT measured in years, not weeks. Let's face it, anyone's can press a 9.6/9.8 into a 9.8. Many of the chest thumpers are already working on books that don't need it just to fuel their ego.
  2. I have spent hours on certain books without ever asking for an additional dollar for my services. It comes with the territory. I take out spine rolls, clean and do all the necessary spot work before putting a book in the press. While I don't work for free, it is not always about the money. If you don't believe me ask some of my regulars. I get a rush when I see a book I worked on sell for a quarter of a million dollars and I did not rip the customer off. What are you basing the pricing on? You did not specify a tier or value on the books.
  3. I don't collect DC Comics, yet I own a copy of HOS 92 and Swamp Thing #1 solely due to Bernie Wrightsons art.
  4. Why wouldn't it be art? There is a skill level involved even if some may consider them "easy" defects. I have seen many DIY'ers remove easy defects and introduce many others that cannot be reversed.
  5. Most of the people who have pressing videos on line are doing it for the money grab. If they were truly good st their craft they would be working on books, not making videos. If you look at most of the videos they are part of organizations pushing another agenda, like investing into comics, etc. Those that can...do. Those that can't...teach
  6. Books received 5/25 Verified sometime late last week. Went from verified to graded today.
  7. Sweet. Will start making preparations now.
  8. Hopefully you missed that mess of rain and wind we had.
  9. You can clean tanned books. It is by washing the book in chemicals or water. Most don't do it because it results in a conserved book since the cleaned areas are usually dull and grainy in appearance. The OP could easily create new spots by using a wet Q-Tip and touching the book in different areas. If you look at the area on the top back cover, closest to the open edge, you can see smaller splatter areas where water once hit it.
  10. Those aren't white stains. They are most likely "clean" spots where water washed away the tanning that the rest of the book suffers from.
  11. Sorry for the glare. Was too tired to scan each book. Some of my purchases in Charlotte.
  12. Heading home early from the show. Great show and wish I had more time to look through boxes. Had a budget for the show, blew through that in an hour on Friday so I have to work twice as hard to build up the reserves for WWC. The friends, the show, the weather we're all great.
  13. This is sound advice. If the books have that much sentimental value keep them as is and buy another nicer copy. The best of both worlds.
  14. Barbeque first...then the show.
  15. For those of you who will be at Heroes...see you tomorrow. Leaving 4:30 AM and hope to hit the show around 2.
