  1. I was going to put on a little demo on how to crack out slabs at the sushi dinner, but due to the time constraints it will have less attendees than originally planned, so I am going to do my little demo at the Saturday night dinner instead. Anyone interested let me know. If I don't get too many responses I will cancel doing it all together.
  2. It could get worse depending on what was on your fingers at the time. Oils can easily be wiped off if done immediately after, but sweat or other foreign substances can continue to affect the inks, especially black ink. In your case it sounds like you took care of it in time, but a picture would be helpful.
  3. If it were an issue with the pressing, it is not fading. Poor pressing can remove ink, not cause fading.
  4. Issue 6 might have a shot, but you need to see the price difference between a 3.5 and 4.0 to see if it is worth the additional cost. While not detailed enough, graders notes would be helpful on this book.
  5. That's true of most things Jim. Still, a lot of great memories are tied into this one photo.
  6. There is no guarantee a book receives the same grade, even if sent back to the same grading party. CGC may grade certain defects harder than PGX (TBH PGX misses a lot of stuff) and that would result in the grade drop. One thing we have all learned over time is that 1=1 is not always true when having a book regraded.
  7. Fingerprints are a lot like real estate. It is location, location, location. If they are on white areas a lot can be done. If they are on colored inks, and have reacted with the inks...little can be done at this point.
  8. It all depends on the book. If the pieces are hanging by a thread...no. If they're folded over, or have shifted leaving what looks like a small tear the visual appeal can be improved if done correctly.
  9. I have help, but they don't press or work on the books.
  10. Unless you have issues on the back covers that a press will correct, these look like they are as good as they can get. Might even go down with CGC grading they way they have been of late.
  11. I agree, but in this case CGC is changing the rules in the middle of the game. I have submitted dozens of copies with severe mis-wrap and received 9.8 on almost all of them. Moving forward, anyone who wants a signature on their 9.8 mis-wrapped copy is almost guaranteed a 9.6 if they crack the book out to get signed.
  12. Nope, never owned this one. As far as black picture frame books go...this ones a beauty.
  13. I should be tired of looking at book by then.
  14. It will have an impact. All depends on how large the writing is and what type of pen or marker was used.
