  1. I cannot get into the submissions page. Anyone else experiencing the same issue?
  2. There are other ways to remove surface dirt and oxidation without anything wet being used on the book.
  3. Are you getting them graded? If you are, I would suggest having them pressed after they travel across the Atlantic in-route to CGC.
  4. See everyone on Thursday. Looking forward to spending a few days with friends I haven’t seen in years and looking to do a lot of buying.
  5. Most likely they were graded a long time ago. The actual entering of the data and encapsulation took a few days. Seems they are grabbing handfuls of economy books and pushing them through. Would be nice if they were in the regular pipeline and not being considered steerage compared to first class moderns signings.
  6. Dave Kapelka used very sturdy ones on all his big dollar books in the past. I have a bunch of them somewhere and I think they look great with the book, especially in a mylite.
  7. Unless the western penn collection had two or more copies. I may have the old scan of it laying around somewhere.
  8. The press used was not the issue, unless they had it set at 451 degrees. The damage to the book was caused by other factors.
  9. Looks like SCS to me. may have been 9.8 when graded...but something funny happened on the way to the forum.
  10. Based on the back cover scan, it doesnt look like a lot of dry cleaning is involved. It would have to be done very carefully but the book could be pressed, and the spine could be improved upon greatly.
  11. Any experienced presser should be able to handle glossy paper stock.
  12. A dark shroud has enveloped the world of comic encapsulation. Oy, where is Obi Wan when you need him.
  13. Personally, I don’t consider books dropped off at shows as “hand” delivered. I drop off books at their facility, and even with that the books get moved around more than one would think. Additionally, regarding poly-bagged books there is an expectation that because they have been bagged the book must be near mint or better in condition. Personal experience has proven to me the exact opposite is true. If they were poly-bagged and boarded I could see thinking this way, but the poly-bag is little more than a Saran Wrap and the book can, and usually does get damaged by rough handling or by the bag itself.
