  3. Although newsstands are not tougher to find due to larger print runs than direct editions in the late 70's or early 80's, are newsstands tougher to find in ultra high grade (CGC 9.6 or 9.8 copies) in comparison to direct editions due to the greater likelihood of newsstand damage or vendor/buyer mishandling from that time period?
  4. Very interesting, I had never heard of this. Wouldn't this method of ordering allow comic dealers to return unsold newsstand copies if they wanted, which they weren't supposed to be able to do? Wonder if this method of ordering occurred in the late 70's and early 80's as well? I was of the mindset that newsstand copies meant just that, since they were refundable if unsold
  5. It makes sense that the unsold/remainder Newsstand copies would be the most damaged issues. But my point is that although Newsstand copy print runs are not rare in the 70' and 80's, aren't the Newsstand copies overall considered slightly more difficult in "ultra high grade" in comparison to the Direct Edition copies, which were handled, stored, and cared for much better by vendors and collectors?
  6. Interesting discussion. So although Newsstand copies were much more abundant than Direct Edition's in the 70's and 80's, weren't Newsstand copies subject to considerably more customer/vendor store mishandling, spinner rack damage, book shelf damage, etc?
  7. Thanks! Just noticed that as well. Nothing I'm interested in purchasing right now, but maybe something will pop up later today. Hopefully "supplies" won't be exhausted by then
  8. I completely missed the "while supplies last" phrase in the T&C. Saw the expiration date of 10/9 12:59PST and thought it was good until then
  9. I saw the discount $ amount in the auctions earlier today. Haven't purchased anything, but now the auctions do not show any discount amounts in the listings. The T&C says the coupon code is good through 10/9 12:59PST. So would the coupon code still work, or is there some total $ quota that you're referring that has caused this promo to end?
  10. That's a beauty! I've always loved this Wrightson cover
  11. Thank you! Yes, the square bound GS was probably the more difficult to find in 9.6. I know the Overstreet notes the problems with the miscuts, gluing, splitting, and warping found on these issues. And I was also looking for one nicely centered so it took a longer time to find. And yes, since you mentioned it, I may also decide to look for a #134 too!
  12. Posted these recent acquisitions on the Punisher Appreciation thread, and thought I'd throw them up here as well: The vertical lines on the #135 are from my scanner
  13. Thanks for the link. Interesting data! Didn't realize just how few SA and BA copies are actually out there. Btw, it's not mine or anyone's I know, but found the Battlestar Galactica up for sale
