Very cool work!
Here's a sketch that I've since painted in Photoshop

Hey Designer Toast, I'm specifically collecting YOUR Avengers it seems!
Getting a bit hooked on these. They're distracting me from my Spidey goals.
Nice! If you're going to start collecting Avengers, those are definitely the two to start with, congrats!
-
Here ya go all prospective EC war book collectors
Not mine. Wish it were
A 9.8??
That's astounding, what a beauty

i'm, curious what you guy's thing of the EC war books Frontline Combat and Two-Fisted Tales. i've always really like the covers but i don't see many posted in this thread.
Man, I LOVE 'em. I just discovered them myself over the past year or so but they are outstanding. They may not get mentioned much here since this is a SA thread but when I get one, I have to post it somewhere
Those are nice books, but I'm sad to say that I've never read an EC war book before. I've been told that they are absolutely fantastic. I'll have to try those compendiums some day.
Andy
You won't regret it Andy. Great stories and artwork(lots by Severin btw). Just fun books altogether. (thumbs u

Found this on eBay and took a chance. For $30 I am pretty happy. Tough book and this one is in decent shape with nice PQ and centering.
Andy strikes again! Great book with an amazing cover for a nice price, good job!

Beautiful books Bill!
And congrats on the #1 Drew! There are a ton of those showing up around here lately
Looks like a solid 3.0 - 3.5, too bad about that crease though
-
Very sorry to hear that Fay, but good luck with the sale
-
Man, those Atlas War books have only been on my radar since I joined the Boards, but I still haven't found any in decent grade at all.
That's a great selection Joe, thanks for sharing! #11 has one of the greatest War covers...ever
-
Does anyone know how I can blow up the scan of #1 & #3 w/ out losing the clarity ?
I do not have these books in hand , ........yet .................THX. ..BH
Awesome set to pick up BH, the 3, 6 and 8 are easily some of my favorite early Avengers
-
One of my all time favorite Avenger covers that arrived late last week.
Sorry for the lousy pic and still not having a scanner, yet.
Fantastic book and a classic cover, congrats Fay!
-
Kudos to blutobc for a couple of great books, shipped safely and very swiftly!
Thanks again, Brian (thumbs u
Thanks for the kind words, Larry. Glad I could help you on the Avengers run. (thumbs u
Oh, and since this is the kudos thread....Karma23's money spends great. I encourage everyone to take more of his money in the future.
If only there was more to go around

Better scan when book is in hand !
Sweet book MJ, congrats!
That was the first SA Avengers that I ever owned

that's a pretty common and fun theme in he war books. Many times the heroes are in for a bad day no matter how things turn out

Man, this one is moving up the ole want list fairly quickly! Nice book (thumbs u

Congrats Drew!
I won my copy from greatcomics. I've never dealt with him before but I'm looking forward to getting this one. that book is a sort of end cap to the Perez era that I loved so much (thumbs u
-
It was a board purchase from Flaming_Telepath, a great guy to do business with for those of you who haven't
The book was board graded in the 1.8 - 2.0 range which I obviously agree with.
You can check the PGM Forum to see the grades posted there.
I could never afford a HG copy of this book but this one is tight with solid staples and doesn't have a ton of rips of tears on the cover, so I am perfectly pleased with it!
Three cheers to Nick! I've purchased a few books from Nick, and he is definitely a fine, upstanding citizen. As well as a rock-solid grader and more-than-fair pricer. (thumbs u
Your Avengers run completion is a fantastic accomplishment. One of these days in the far, far distant future, I might complete my 1-200 run.
Thanks Drew, it's much appreciated!
In an impossible future, I'd love to have a 1-100 or 1-200 run of slabbed books
I did just pick up a 9.6 #200 on e-bay
-
That and #4 are on my want list. Just so I know, How much did it cost?Well, I've made a big deal of this all over the boards today, so I have to share it here as well$250 shipped, Cap
Congratulations!
Which leads to three more questions: (1) where'd you get it, (2) how did the seller grade it, and (3) how would YOU grade it?
