  5. For your consideration the first edition of Frederic Wertham's Dark Legend Unrestored with original dustjacket See below article Asking $125.00 Shipped to Canada and the USA via Paypal or cheque and 14 day return policy https://www.lambiek.net/comics/wertham_fredric.htm?fbclid=IwAR0b-pw0rX2HFWZUeASTSOrVKy_5pMDFAFpHcA9rEWX3MPrw1nFGS2QQlOw Particularly the following "Theories about comics Wertham focused on the influence of culture and environment on criminal behavior, resulting in the book 'Dark Legend' (1941), about the true story of a 17-year-old who killed his mother. Dr. Wertham noted how the boy lived in a fantasy world, influenced by movies, radio plays and comic books. This was the first time Wertham linked comics to crime, and in his following work he developed this thought even further. His theories parallelled a rise of more violent comic books"

  8. VERY RARE promotional giveaway comic circa 1958 with art by Craig Flessel of DC fame, who illustrated Sandman, et al in the 1940s for National Periodical Publications (DC). I have never seen another one. Deals with juvenile delinquency and promulgating for aid and reform. Has anybody else seen one?
  9. I saw a listing for a Dime Comics # 23 on ebay from a seller in Montreal and he put his phone number in the description (regrettably I do not have in image of the Ebay listing). Suffice it to say I reached out the seller and met him somewhere between Toronto and Montreal in a restaurant. He brought a shoebox with him. and BOOM.. some of the books I later certified with CGC. This was in 2011. I paid a total of $6600.00 CDN for the lot. I acquired the GA Canadian books and the American GA books were sold to Brian at Sparkle City comics afterwards. Some highlights below.....
  10. Another new acquisition. Rare black and white copy of a cold war book from 1952 promulgating for freedom.
  11. Just acquired a very rare piece to compliment my copy of "The Plot to Steal the World" from 1948 which is also an extremely rare giveaway comic published by Work and Unity in Trenton, NJ The piece I acquired is another comic published in 1948 called "We Hit the Jackpot" published by General Comics in 1948 as well. Here is where it gets very interesting: General Comics would print copies of their giveaway comics for companies to order imprints and put their name on the back. The copy I just acquired was printed and distributed for Work and Unity of Trenton, NJ and promulgates for freedom. The back of the "Hit the Jackpot" giveaway comic shows The Work and Unity logo and specifically states that it is number 2 in a series and that they are the "PUBLISHERS of THE PLOT TO STEAL THE WORLD" Many copies of "We Hit the Jackpot" were imprinted for General Motors, which was a bastion for consumerism. This is the ONLY copy I have seen bearing the Work and Unity logo accordingly and I am proud to add it to my collection.
