@MattM CS and @JuliaJ CS - Still no update on this? Surely someone in the grading team should know the paramters given people have already started sending their remarked books in...

    Hello,

After reviewing this with our graders, unfortunately, these books would have to go through the grading process for this to be determined. As each sketch and Remarque is different, our graders will be reviewing these on a case-by-case basis. If it is found that the book has been damaged because of the remarque/sketch the grade will be adjusted. Additionally, I did receive a confirmation regarding non-authentic signatures as well. If a signature is deemed to be not authentic by JSA, our graders will downgrade for it and will notate this signature as not authentic on the label.

I know this isn't exactly what you were looking for but I do hope this helps. Thanks for your understanding.

    Regards,

  2. Hello,

Newton’s rings are the natural result of two pieces of plastic coming together. They may be more or less pronounced depending on the thickness of the collectible. The CGC holder is built with long-term preservation in mind, and its construction is necessary to ensure the protection of the encapsulated collectible. Newton’s rings are not an indicator of any deficiencies with the CGC holder and therefore do not qualify as a Mechanical Error.

That said, in reviewing the image you sent it looks like this holder may have heat damage as the label and inner well look to become wavy/melted. This is due to improper storage of our slabs over the years. Once again this would not qualify for a complimentary reholder service. Additionally, due to the condition of the inner well, if this was returned to us for a reholder service our graders would need to review the book. It is possible the book would need to be regraded because of the warping to the inner well. Unfortunately, we would need this in hand to review. Thank you for checking. You can find out more about what qualifies as an ME here: https://www.cgccomics.com/news/article/11571/mechanical-errors-policy/

    Hello,

Bumping this because I recently submitted under my membership tier and should have received a $150 credit but didn't. I submitted an order containing one vintage comic for grading, and several modern comics for pressing/grading. The vintage comic has already charged me $86.40. Per the FAQ:

Since it should be automatically applied until exhausted, I'm wondering why I was charged the full amount for the first item (the others have not billed yet since they're awaiting pressing).

I've emailed the customer service email but I'd rather not wait the 10-14 days it normally takes to get a response (in my previous experience) to find out what's going on.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Charles

Hello! Thanks for reaching out. Pressing and Grading have two separate accounting systems. Because of this, when your credit is applied to your account, if you send in for pressing, the credit will not automatically apply to the pressing fees (but we can apply after the fact as needed). That said, in reviewing your account, your current outstanding credit will be applied to the grading fees for these books once they have moved to grade. Without getting too deep into it because this is a public forum, you did already have some of your credit applied to your book that did not receive pressing. The remaining credit will apply to the other modern books.

Thanks for checking! I am sorry for the confusion this may have caused.

How will this effect that old thorn in my side; third party signed and authenticated books like Wizard use to do.  Example:  Wolverine 102.5 Wizard Variant Signed by Boris Vallejo.  How are these books be handled?  Is there a chance these signatures won't pass JSA authentication?  Would it still lose points for having a "sticker" on the cover (the Wizard hologram).  Would I be better off leaving these green labeled and/or ungraded?

On a totally different subject, does CGC or JSA have any resources with which we could pursue to sort of pre-check signatures for ourselves?  In my younger days, I may have gotten a bit overzealous in buying signed books without getting any proof.  It would be great for people to be able to compare signatures against a few examples before sending them in for authentication.

    Thanks

While we would need this in hand submitted through the service to review the signature, the book would likely still receive a green label for the wizards' sticker being added to the book.

As for the second question, these resources will not be posted on our site. This is to prevent reproduction, fake signatures, and situations of customers purchasing a book raw because the signature looks close but instead of being signed by the name in question, an AutoPen or a Secretarial signature is used instead. Thanks for checking!

  5. Hello @David Forrest,

Unfortunately, we would not be able to add the collection of Kevin Eastman as a pedigree at this time to this book as it was not originally submitted to us by Kevin or his office per our records. I am sorry for the inconvenience. That said, we can have the book pressed, cleaned, and reviewed the signatures through our JSA certification service. Thanks for checking.

    Regards,

  6. Hello,

Unfortunately, if this option is not available in the announcement article this is not an option our team and the artists are offering for the event. Unfortunately, you would only be able to select a dual signature or a single remark in this case. I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Do we ship a window bag for signatures with the already slabbed comics?

No you do not need to include a window bag for a book currently in a holder. Thanks for checking!

@MattM CS follow up question about the stickers - if you submit a book for CGC grading and JSA sig verification, will that book have a sticker physically applied to the book itself as well?

I guess: can you clarify which process - submission with grading / authentication, or JSA witnessing at a con - that would receive a sticker applied to a book? (to me this would be a total dealbreaker)

Hello! No it will not. This sticker is only applied when an item is submitted through JSA services ONLY at a show. Thanks for checking!

thank you and can provide more photos if needed.

@Changer Mike and I will be getting back to you directly. For any others with questions such as this, please contact us at service@cgccomics.com with an image of the full front of your book (and the label visible) and a description of your issue/question. Situations resulting on books being returned are reviewed on a case by case basis. Thank you for your understanding.

A little confused. I submitted this book separately for JSA Autograph Authentication. But I noticed it has been grouped together with the other 7 Moderns I submitted and the total charged to my card was $25 less than I expected(seems like $20 is for shipping and $5 is for handling? but the $22.50 charge for authentication still stands?). Is this still going to be authenticated as I originally submitted,  @MattM CS?

Correct. The JSA service can be conbined with other books that are not receiving this service. The JSA authentication fee will still apply but the packing slip may show a different price than the actual grouping of the submission. Thanks for checking!

    I have a question.

    1. Will JSA Locations (1 in NJ, 1 in FL) become CGC drop off locations?

1a. If it is a drop off location, will it only be a drop off for books with signatures that need to be verified, or also unsigned books?

    Thanks!

Great questions! At this time, these JSA offices will not become CGC dropoff sites. That said, this may be offered in the future but there is no timeline on when this could be announced. Be sure to follow us on social media and be signed up for our announcement emails so if this is announced you will be among the first to know about this change. Thanks for checking!

I have a local con coming up where JSA will be there, but CGC will not and there will be no CGC authorized facilitator. Will JSA be allowed to witness a signature for me so I can get a traditional signature series label, or will I be forced to submit with authentication by JSA after the fact?

JSA does have a witnessed service they can provide at shows that CGC will not be attending. Be sure to discuss this with them directly at their booth. They will witness the book's signing and receive a special JSA WPP COA Sticker. When this book is then later submitted through CGC with the JSA Authentication service added it will then receive a full yellow Sig Series Label.

I also have received what I think is a fair offer to replace the comic in the grade it was supposed to be in - plus a bit of a top up to cover things like customs, etc.  Still waiting on the forms to sign off, but have found them to be very reasonable (aside from the delay) - once they came back with an offer, communication has been very solid.

@Panda2 Thanks for letting me know! I have just alerted our claims team to send this out to you again. This was sent on the 7th and again yesterday but this should come through today to the email we have on file. If you do not receive this, please reply to my email correspondence with you regarding this claim.

I have still not received any offer. Can anyone explain to me why CGC has to wait for the insurance company to approve any offer? If insurance doesn't approve, is CGC not going to make their customers whole? I also have no idea why this has taken months, when it would take anyone with any knowledge of comics no more than 30 minutes to determine.

@WernerVonDoom, Because the insurance provider is the one directly reimbursing our customers and NOT CGC they must review each situation directly and create an offer. That said, there are still several customers/situations we are waiting on an offer from the insurance provider. Once this has been confirmed one of my team members or I will be contacting you with more info and the next steps.

    Thanks for your patience!

Hi Matt.  So, it sounds like in this situation, JSA places a WPP sticker on the item.  Wouldn't a sticker on a comic negatively impact the grade of the comic?

In this case, the JSA sticker will be ignored during the grading process. Thanks for checking! If there are other stickers on the book, this will be reviewed by our graders accordingly.

  16. Hello @Tazman4151,

These invoices are created at the beginning of the submission process before accounting has processed payment. This invoice goes through the entire submission process with the books as another one of the proceedures we follow so there is never a question of who the books belong to. Sorry for the confusion this may have caused.

Let us know if you have any other questions.
